Hi all,

Been ttc (unsuccessfully!) for over a year and just found out there's a problem with DH sperm (low mobility and zero normal forms), so awaiting referral to fertility clinic to seek further help/advice.

Just wondered if there's anyone else in a similar situation about to embark on this journey too?

Also similar success stories welcome :) x

@willithappen it is so heartbreaking waiting all the time. I really understand how terrible this virus is but I can't help but feel sorry for myself.

I ohoned my NHS clinic and got the consultants secretary. She was very nippy and told me if I go private there will be no NHS help after. I asked if the clinic would open when HFEA allow and a he said it would only open when Covid is eradicated ☹. She asked me if I was calling about clomid when I called so I wonder if the pharmacy have notified them?

Hope the rest of the clomid girls are doing OK?

willithappen · 27/04/2020 15:18

@Chochaw
Sorry to hear she was nippy on the phone to you. That's the last thing we need. I don't think some of them really know when they will open back up again and possibly not the ones currently answering calls so hold out hope!

It's okay to feel sorry for ourselves. We have had something taken away from us for the time being (and a pretty big thing at that) and even though life could be a lot worse it doesn't mean our own personal troubles and feelings are any less or should be pushed aside.

Hold on in there!

Etonmess20 · 27/04/2020 16:08

@Chochaw sorry to hear she was shirty with you, you're bound to be anxious being in such a state of limbo & not knowing when it will end x

Cat028 · 27/04/2020 16:56

I was feeling very much the same as you @Narwhal88 and @willithappen. A little ray of hope over here today. After 3 loooooong years. I had my first BFP today. I'm in total shock. So stay positive ladies.

@Chochaw sorry to hear she was like that with you. Not very helpful!

Chochaw · 27/04/2020 17:33

@Cat028 OMG congratulations!!! Well done. So pleased for you!! Keep us posted in how you are keeping and don't leave the group. X

Chochaw · 27/04/2020 17:50

This was posted by HFEA today.

We know that many patients and clinic staff are understandably concerned about when treatment can resume. We are working towards a date and our board is meeting this week to review new guidance, including guidance from ESHRE and ASRM, which will help us lift the restrictions as soon as possible.

Cat028 · 27/04/2020 18:10

@Chochaw thank you! I won't be leaving I'm keeping everything crossed for more good news for all of you. Xx

Cat028 · 27/04/2020 18:11

Hopefully it will be sooner rather than later. 🤞🏻

Cat028 · 27/04/2020 18:12

That places reopen. Sorry I don't know what I'm doing with my messages. 🙈

Morpho123 · 27/04/2020 20:02

Hi all! Hope you are well

OMG @Cat028 I am buzzing that we have a bfp in this group!!!! OMG omg I’m literally so bloody happy for you!!!! Stay safe and enjoy this little bubble you deserve it!

Let’s hope we all get to join you very soon! Eeekkkk xxx

Etonmess20 · 27/04/2020 21:44

@Cat028 congratulations!!!!

willithappen · 27/04/2020 22:06

Omg @Cat028 I am SO happy for you that's fantastic news!!

Limeflower2 · 27/04/2020 23:56

@Cat028 Congratulations!!! Delighted for you! Stay safe!
@Chochaw Sorry to hear about your call. I don't think people who answered the phone would have a clue about reopening etc. One of ladies who was at my meeting asked does the clinic have to wait until all safety distancing lifted before reopening again (which means possibly another 6 -12months) and the consultant said No. He believes they will have a firm plan in place to work with the social distancing, so I hope the day will come soon!xx

Cat028 · 28/04/2020 08:20

Thank you so much everyone. I'm really excited. This is our first time getting this far so I'm praying it all works out. I'm keeping everything crossed you all will get BFPs soon.

Chochaw · 28/04/2020 10:39

Hey ladies,

How are we all doing? CD16 for me. Ovulation due in 2 days but I think it may be a little earlier. I had a some twinges earlier. My fertility nurse phoned me after getting an email from the cranky girl that i spoke to yesterday. She said the clinic has been shut down and a she has been redeployed to work other services. She said a he will call me in a couple of months to check in but not to expect to have it reopened in the near future as they have put the Covid centre in the building where the clinic is ☹. She said if I do go private I will still be top of the list to get started when they do reopen if I need it. She ended the call saying to keep practising. I really love wee nurse Janet. X

Cat028 · 28/04/2020 11:50

@Chochaw that's really good news. You don't want to have to choose between waiting for longer or losing NHS support.

Limeflower2 · 28/04/2020 16:32

@Chochaw Sorry to hear about the clinic. At least your nurse rang and have you an update. Do you think you would go private?x

Morpho123 · 28/04/2020 16:47

@Chochaw ovulation must be really close for you, are you doing opks? I’m cd11, done an opk- nothing but I have twinges, but still early days for me, normally I ovulated cd13-15 so will wait and see. By taking clomid are you really constipated? I am so badly I wonder if that’s caused it!

Glad to hear the clinic called you back to discuss, so frustrating isn’t it. We’re going private, just waiting for them to open back up- only because we have no nhs funding in my area xxx

willithappen · 28/04/2020 16:54

I'm hopefully they may start having plans to put things in place as they slowly start to lift lockdown. My place through NHS also does private (so I think it's the same place?) so I don't know if they would continue on with NHS people also or only do private.

I'm CD 22 today. Not feeling hopeful for anything this month. Just feel totally the same and after all these years I don't know why this month would be any different either. Just desperately want to get going with IVF

Chochaw · 28/04/2020 18:34

@Limeflower2 we have the money here for private but we were always told to use NHS options 1st but with the change in conditions going private is definitely on the cards. I will see how this month goes with clomid and I have another month prescription if it doesn't work. Hopefully by then there will be more updates.

@morpho123 I'm normally constipated so not much change for me to compare I'm afraid. I took an opk an hour ago and it was positive. Hopefully we have caught it this month. DTD 3days ago, yesterday, today and will go again tomorrow morning and next day to be sure. I'm actually feeling really positive about this month. I normally don't feel any ovulation pains but I've definitely felt tender at left side today. Hopefully releasing a few large eggs 🙂.

@Cat028 did you do anything different this month?

@willithappen hang in there. I feel your pain. It is so frustrating. X

Morpho123 · 28/04/2020 20:16

@chochaw that’s great news and you are defo covering all basis! 🤞🏽 I’m so glad you are feeling positive too, I’m not at the moment but maybe I will when ovulation is nearer! I have another two rounds of clomid at home, so at least I have those to take whilst the clinics are still closed!
@Cat028 I’d also like to know what you did differently please! Although looking back I think your husband had 3% morphology, whereas mine has 0 so I’m not hopeful 😂🤷🏽‍♀️ Xxx

Morpho123 · 28/04/2020 20:17

@willithappen sorry I pressed post before replying to you, keep your head held up, you never know this could be your month. I think in clinics they do treat nhs and private the same, but I’m not entirely sure. Keeping my fingers crossed for you, there is light at the end of the tunnel xxxx

willithappen · 28/04/2020 22:10

Thanks @Morpho123 you too lovely!

Always thinking of you whenever this pops up as I feel like we are quite similar in what we are both experiencing

I asked for clomid at my last appointment but he wouldn't give me any. I think it's maybe because I had an antral follicle count of 34 when he did the scan so he said it would highly increase chance of multiples and wouldn't be safe

Cat028 · 28/04/2020 22:12

@willithappen keeping everything crossed that your clinic will be opening soon.

@Chochaw @Morpho123
Yes his morphology was 3% last it was checked. He has reduced the amount of caffeine he is drinking. 1/2 cups of coffee per day and 2 glasses of whiskey or beers per week, not allowed baths or the cats sitting on his lap not to heat himself up.

We didn't do anything different than normal. Sex every 2 days as soon as I finished AF.

I always lie on the bed for at least 20min afterwards. I heard that could help so have done so for years.

We have conceive plus and have been using that for months.

The last 2 months I have cut out chocolate, and only drink de-cafe green tea, squash or water and 1 g and t per week only.

Chochaw · 29/04/2020 11:03

Does anyone normally get ovulation pain? How long does it normally last? I normally don't but since yesterday I have had pain in lower abdomen. It started as a sharp twinge at left side and since then is like a dull ache right across both sides. It feela like period pain and i have backache too. I assumed it to be ovulation because I got positive OPK but now worried I might end up with OHSS because of clomid and not know because I've not had a scan. I've weighed myself and I am a lb heavier than normal and a bit bloated. I have just emptied bowels and will drink lots of water and keep eye on weight over next few days.x
