IVF in Feb/March 2020?

waitingforarainbow · 19/12/2019 08:01

Hello! I'm just wondering whether there are others starting their IVF journey in Feb/March 2020.

I am dealing with secondary infertility (male factor) and we have been TTC#2 for 16 months. We conceived naturally by some miracle back in July, but sadly had an early miscarriage (my third in total). We're now waiting to start ICSI IVF in early February.

Would love to hear from others doing the same. x

Hey everyone- Day 3 update for me

1 x 7 cell - grade 1-2
2 x 8 cell - grade 2
2 x grade 4 which they don't think will progress

Trying not to be too despondent about not having any definitive Grade 1s - just hoping they are decent quality at Day 5 x

Yorkshirehope · 10/02/2020 16:23

Hi all - sorry, I've been a bit quiet on here. Just waiting for AF and will be starting round 3. Short protocol on 450 merifort . For those newbies - injections are ok! honest. I was super worried and they are now weirdly the bit I like in the whole process. It puts you in control and you feel that you are making a difference. I'm 3 days late at the mo - no chance that we are pregnant naturally so really frustrating as just want to get going! Hope everyone else is ok xx

Yorkshirehope · 10/02/2020 16:24

@itwasalovelydreamwhileitlasted - will keep my fingers crossed for you x

MorgenMuffel · 10/02/2020 21:34

Thanks for the warm welcome Smile

Oooh good luck with the injections @PineappleC. Hope you don't get too many side effects

Fx for you @itwasalovelydreamwhileitlasted and hope AF shows up soon so you can get started @Yorkshirehope

Evening ladies. I had my consent signing today start buserlin 18th Feb, round 5 here I come. Long protocol and higher and different meds to test out. I just hope AF dont mess me around waiting like last time and lining as that put me back 2 weeks last round.
How is everyone else getting on? Who is DR now or stimming?

UncleBrynsfishingtrip · 11/02/2020 18:52

Hello @41 trying...
Round 5 is amazing 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼
I start my meds at same time as you. Bureselin buddies!!!!!

We are only going to have one round of IVF though and if unsuccessful we will hopefully adopt. I might contact the counsellors at my clinic soon as I think talking everything through helps.

Youngatheart00 · 11/02/2020 19:07

Eeek there are signs AF is here.....not ‘full flow’ though so I’m not meant to count it as day one (a little confusing). Start stims on day 2 so guessing that will be Thursday or Friday (just in time for Valentines!) It’s our second cycle after the first failed. Different clinic and slightly different meds. Will be doing a ‘freeze all’ this time for practical reasons so it doesn’t seem quite so intimidating....easy for me to say now. Wait til the hormones kick in Confused

SpyroC · 11/02/2020 19:33

Hi all, my meds came yesterday so I'm reading to go now! Not sure why there's 60 needles for 13ish days is stims???

@41trying 🤞🏻 it's more straightforward for you this time. I will be a few days ahead of you with DR. I am straight on to maximum dose for stims 😳 due to low AMH. I'm not looking forward to any side effects!

Is anyone taking DHEA and/or melatonin?

41trying · 11/02/2020 19:47

Lovley to have some buddies.
@SpyroC, I am taking CQ 10 this time to see if it helps. I said one go just haven't been able to give up. Slightly different with me a I has children years ago then got sterlized. Been with hubby now for 13 years and would like a child together. So this was the only route for me. I had great AMH for my age 42 but eggs dont match, only 3 collected last time and one fertilised.
So maximum meds this time to see if we can get more. As we are self funded it will be our last attempt, as I cant put myself through this again.

Youngatheart00 · 11/02/2020 19:52

@SpyroC I am taking ubiquinol to help with egg quality. My AMH has remained static but there has been a year between tests

SpyroC · 11/02/2020 20:52

I am taking CoQ10 too, it seems that can only do good. My clinic advised the other 2 too which I was a bit unsure about tbh but after reading up on it I can see why it makes sense for me.

@41trying We can be max dose buddies! You are very strong to have done 5. I've not even started and I can see it's going to be mentally exhausting. Hopefully, this is your time.🤞🏻 It's weird the eggs collected didn't match the AMH-did they do afc scan too?

41trying · 11/02/2020 21:06

SpyroC, clinic advised others but leaving cycle 2 more months so it can get into system. I didnt want to wait the clock is ticking.
Definitely mentally draining.
For 42 my AMH was 20, so they for a 36 year old, AFC was 11, so I was on 300 dose meds, so they expected more eggs.
Just suppose just have to see what comes of this last round

SpyroC · 11/02/2020 21:40

It's frustrating when things don't go as expected. I am 32 with an AMH of 5 and afc of 8 😔, this news was was a bit of a shock as I prior to this I over responded to a very low dose of clomid and had to abandon due to too many follicles. 🤷🏻‍♀️ why can't our bodies just behave ey!

ValidUser · 11/02/2020 21:47

@SpyroC I'm adding DHEA and melatonin after a bit of reading. They may not help, but don't seem to do any harm!

I think there are so many needles for different doses. If you're on gonal f, I was on that for mild superovulation purposes at 75 units, so a pen lasted ages.

Clinic for me on Friday and Tuesday. Then we can confirm whether we're talking next cycle or cycle after.

H1ghH0pes · 11/02/2020 22:10

We have started our 2nd Cycle after failed cycle last year due to egg quality. We are in the process of taking stims medication. Day 10 scan next Monday. So fingers crossed 🤞 they will say OK for the egg collection. Hoping for a better result that last year.... Last cycle they collected 19 eggs of which only 7 were of good enough quailtiy but only 3 made it to blastocyst stage. Unfortunately none of them implanted.

This time I've also gained weight but they say because I was alright last year during anaesthetic it should be the same this year.

Anyway Wishing you all the best of luck and baby dust
Xx

Yorkshirehope · 12/02/2020 09:44

Gladly AF arrived on Monday so today is day three of injections. Feeling ok and trying my best to keep thinking third time lucky. Keeping everything crossed for everyone on here. xx

Hatawa83 · 12/02/2020 10:08

Hi ladies,
I’ve just started an ICSI round which will spill into March. On day 5 menopur and feeling pretty shit but hoping to see good progress in my scan tomorrow. Can’t say I’m not stressed. After multiple miscarriages I really hope we get lucky this time. Wishing you all the best, whatever stage you are at :)

itwasalovelydreamwhileitlasted · 12/02/2020 15:42

Hey everyone so day 5 update finally

1x 4aa grade frozen - really chuffed as not had any aa before in 4 collections

1 x not quite blastocyst stage so they are going to check tomorrow

Anyone have any experience of day 6 blastocysts? X

SpyroC · 12/02/2020 18:46

@ValidUser have you noticed any side effects at all? I am about 12 days in and all of a sudden I'm inexplicably tired. But I'll stick with it.

@itwasalovelydreamwhileitlasted that's greats news.

I hope everyone else is doing ok x

confused107 · 12/02/2020 20:12

That's great news @itwasalovelydreamwhileitlasted are you doing a freeze all cycle?

@SpyroC I am only on day 5 of the burselin injections and I am inexplicably tired. It's a bit of a shock as I didn't feel tired last time. It has been a busy week at work and my mom has been in hospital but yesterday I could have fell asleep at my desk! I have my endoscratch tomorrow so will mention it to the nurse but I'm sure it's just one of those things :-(

itwasalovelydreamwhileitlasted · 12/02/2020 20:25

@confused107
Yes another freeze all as am doing a 3 cycle package so you have to do 2 freeze all and then transfer on the 3rd collection. However because I'm on low dose drugs I can cycle back to back with no break so no waiting 6-8 weeks in between collections - mine have been 4 weekly intervals so far which is intensive but at least it's over pretty quick x

ValidUser · 12/02/2020 21:53

@SpyroC from gonal f? I was a bit warm all the time, but other than that, I managed fine.

What are you all doing about work while stimming? I'm undecided. I'm a doctor and usually see patients by appointment. Not sure I can reliably do that while in and out for scans. And I do a long commute, meaning I'm nowhere near the clinic if anything crops up (and I'm at high risk for clots - will be on innohep).

All the same, I'd feel awful for missing work.

PineappleC · 12/02/2020 22:08

@spyroC I've got shedloads of needles and syringes too, but will only need 10 of each type so maybe they're just being cautious by giving us loads!

@morganmuffel thank you! And welcome to the group 😊

Day 3 of stims for me. All fine. Actually the injections I've given myself haven't hurt at all, and no side effects this early on (famous last words!)👍

@validuser I can imagine it's a bit difficult to handle the timings of this alongside patients. Have you told anyone at work?

SpyroC · 12/02/2020 22:13

Sorry I meant from the DHEA and Melatonin. I start DR on Friday. I'm thinking if I'm tired now it'll be worse then.

@ValidUser One if my biggest concerns about the whole process was missing work. I'm a teacher so I can't book time off. I just told the relevant people in charge and they were all very understanding and supportive. I will do my best to book scans outside of work hours but I know the morning slots will likely be booked up for short notice ones. I do feel a lot better for having been open with them.

SpyroC · 12/02/2020 22:16

@ValidUser plus I hate being off work too. I've hardly had a day off in my career until this last yr!

@PineappleC I'm glad I'm not the only one! I hope they don't tell me I have to use all 80! So far so good for you then. I hope you stay side effect free.
