IVF in Feb/March 2020?

Hello! I'm just wondering whether there are others starting their IVF journey in Feb/March 2020.

I am dealing with secondary infertility (male factor) and we have been TTC#2 for 16 months. We conceived naturally by some miracle back in July, but sadly had an early miscarriage (my third in total). We're now waiting to start ICSI IVF in early February.

Would love to hear from others doing the same. x

Had my first ET this morning. Test on 16 march. The wait is going to be so difficult. Very strange that this ivf journey began for my husband and myself in early October and now we are at the stage where u have to just wait and hope.

PickleKid · 06/03/2020 15:48

@Cmd20 how do you get the test so soon? I thought it was 2 weeks? My ET was the 4th and they said come back the 18th!

Cmd20 · 06/03/2020 15:58

@pickleKid they told me the 2ww is from when you get egg collection. So i had day 5 ET so 9 or 10days after that. They gave me a test to test myself that morning

PickleKid · 06/03/2020 16:17

Ooooh well I will be peeing on sticks sooner than I thought!

ChatWithMe · 06/03/2020 16:18

PickleKid just do first response pregnancy test at home on 15th of March (my clinic says 11days after transfer but like some say it is sometimes 9 days after transfer which would be March 13th). Then blood test at your clinic will just confirm it if it's positive. Good luck!

Cmd20 · 06/03/2020 16:26

I dont know if il last until 16th but im going to try. My ivf journey has been ok so far but it is emotionally draining. Fingers crossed we all get positive results

Rumtopf · 06/03/2020 17:26

Mine said 16 days after EC.

Is anyone else's dh completely freaked out about the amount of injections? Mine is having a wobble about putting me through so much pain. I'm trying to convince him that it won't hurt all that much (I have an old scar and reduced sensation on my lower tummy, so will do injections there), but don't know what else to say. It's obviously fine as there's a chance we get pg!

Cmd20 · 06/03/2020 17:38

I found the injections didnt hurt at all and left not marks or bruising.

SpyroC · 06/03/2020 17:39

Well done @granddesigns I am 1 day ahead of you.

@PickleKid and @granddesigns I just assumed you were supposed to put the needle all the way in 😕 my clinic didn't mention it.

@ChatWithMe good luck and 🤞🏻 for a bfp. Xx

@confused107 try not to worry. Most people in here seem to have seen a lot of change between each scan. Maybe it's the luck of the thread. I hope reflexology relaxed you ready for the weekend. X

@Rumtopf I just ask my DH to be there but not get involved. It's the only bit I have control over so I like to do it IYSWIM. He is definitely freaked out by it but tries to be strong.

2nd injection went more smoothly and I had a much better nights sleep than I've had in a week. I itched my tummy today and it really hurt! Can I avoid this? Also I cannot get rid of the tiny bubbles by the black thing. I don't get what the nurse did differently! I still lost 0.5 ml too but hey at least it's progress! All mixing and injecting tips welcome!

PickleKid · 06/03/2020 18:03

Mine was away so the first one I did by webcam. The second I had a friend over and she held my chub as it felt like a three handed job. And then I was good to just get on with it. He came back towards the end and I let him push the syringe. But I found I didn't want someone to stab me although I eventually found it better if someone watched as I was more thorough.

One of the ladies in our EC group said her husband did all her's so well and easily.

Just do what works for you. Just because most men do it doesn't mean he has to.

Just think if you had a big plaster on, would you want to rip it off yourself or have someone else. It's just preference. Good luck!

jodesxx · 06/03/2020 18:12

Hello everyone!

I had my EC today and they got 13 eggs so just waiting for the call tomorrow. They said I had quite a lot of follicles at my scan on Wednesday so decided to do a freeze all as I'd be at risk of OHSS. I'm a bit confused as they said there were only 14 that were the right size which I didn't think was that many? It was very painful, literally was crying during/afterwards even with sedation. Just glad it is over now. They said about 6-8 weeks then FET. More waiting unfortunately:(

I didn't find the injections that bad. Started hurting more this lady weeek but no bruising which I was surprised about!

I'm just glad the hormones are finished with as I've really struggled this time round. Felt so low last week, tearful and headaches. Not sure what the meds will be for a FET - any experience?

WarriorSmith · 06/03/2020 20:16

@jodesxx
I'm with you having a freeze all after EC. Personally, I'm happy to recover - I couldn't get out of bed the following day from EC.
I felt bloated, like I was constipated, I had terrible lower back pain and everytime I laughed, sneezed or coughed it really hurt.

My EC was last Wednesday, I had an internal yesterday to ensure everything was fine and a review consultation has been booked for 2 weeks time. That's when they'll decide to do the transfer.

Did they give you any more injections? I had to take another week of injections in my belly to help with OHSS

I don't know about taking anymore meds for the transfer, only the pessaries. Unless anyone else had had experience?

jodesxx · 06/03/2020 22:01

@WarriorSmith it's just more delay but I've struggled a lot the past couple of weeks so it's maybe good to give me a bit of a break from it at the moment.

I'm just going to be relieved Monday/Wednesday when we have them in the freezer. I think I'll relax a bit more then!

I've been alright this afternoon, just sleepy but this evening I'm crampy and keep getting twinges. Hopefully it is better tomorrow.

No more medication/injections. They said they have the MDT on Wednesday then will look at getting me into see the consultant then will have a treatment planning. Just hope it's not any longer than 8 weeks!

I'd be interested to know how the FET works. It's been difficult with work having scans everyday. Is that likely to be the same again?

Robson13 · 07/03/2020 08:07

@jodesxx I'm having FET this time and it's likely to be much less trips to the hospital. I only have two appointments, one for scan to check lining and then one for egg transfer. I'm expecting that I might need more than one scan but fingers crossed it's just the one. The part I'm most relieved about is not having the EC, I found that really painful and I was vomiting for hours afterwards because of the drugs. What I wasn't expecting with the FET was the amount of injections, I will have been injecting Buserelin for almost 5 weeks by the time I have egg transfer.

itwasalovelydreamwhileitlasted · 07/03/2020 08:42

For my FETs I've had scans every other day from around cycle day 8 to confirm there is a dominant follicle and also that it's growing - at a certain point of it reaches a certain size but I haven't had a LH surge then I then do a trigger shot x

jodesxx · 07/03/2020 10:18

@Robson13 I'm hoping it means less hospital trips. They seemed to indicate there wouldn't be any more injections? I would just need to take eosteogen?

Had the call from the lab thus morning. They said out of the 13 collected, they injected 11 (we are doing ICSI) and 5 have fertilised overnight. They said they typically expect 50-70% and as my DP has tese to get sperm it tends to be lower. Just a bit deflated really as hoped it would be more. They said it's difficult at this stage to say where they will be at on Monday, all may make it but could only be one or two, if that. Just going to try and keep myself distracted now until next update on Monday.

Youngatheart00 · 07/03/2020 12:46

So I’m 8 days post egg collection, day 24 of my cycle and I’ve started bleeding fairly heavily....unsure if this is my period come early or just a withdrawal bleed from all of the hormones?

(No ET for me as plan was for a freeze all).

Youngatheart00 · 07/03/2020 12:47

@jodesxx everything crossed for your 5 embies over the weekend

Cmd20 · 07/03/2020 13:17

Im so confused by it all. Iv had a grade A ET and 5 frozen. 1 A, 1 B, and 3 C. Still unsure if this increases or decreases your chances of pregnancy

PineappleC · 08/03/2020 09:17

6 days past transfer here and I've already started spotting and cramping. Gutted 😭 Can't even understand how this happens when I'm taking progesterone, but I feel exactly the same as when AF is due. I think we are going to have a good month's break and go on holiday before looking at a frozen cycle.

Hope everyone else is doing okay 😊

PickleKid · 08/03/2020 10:55

Sorry @PineappleC. Is there any chance it's implantation? Sending hugs!!

takingthistooseriously · 08/03/2020 11:19

@PineappleC I'm really sorry, I hope like @PickleKid said it is just implantation. My nurse was keen to tell me that lots of women bleed in the early stages of pregnancy so I hope it's that

Cmd20 · 08/03/2020 11:27

Thanks for all of your support. Not 1 reply

PickleKid · 08/03/2020 11:36

@Cmd20 I don't think any of us know how to answer you. There's a picture in this link that shows the sizes well but no one in the group is pregnant yet to know if the embryo grading makes a significant difference. They only freeze ones that are viable but within that are levels.

Hi all!

Joining this post while you're all in full swing. I recognise a couple of people from previous threads.

AF has just arrived so it's time to start cycle number four, and hoping this is the one. I have a low AMH and I'm 36, so time is not on my side. I've had three rounds of mild IVF and for this cycle I'm doing natural modified IVF. Getting embies of good quality has been my issue, so I've been taking co-enzyme Q10, royal jelly and vitamin d for the last few months in the hope it might make a difference 🤞🏼
