Hi all,

I can't see a thread for Dec/ Jan yet - maybe because a lot of clinics shut over the holidays - but mine doesn't! Anyone else out there starting in December and want to support each other? This will be my first round so I'm pretty nervous! X

@notReginaPhalange I am on day 6 of buserlin, which I started on day 21 of AF .
Buserlin is a tiny needle and I dont even feel it go in. Good luck for when you start.

UnicornPuff · 13/12/2019 18:12

@BaileyBadger4 you need to keep the injections to as close a time as possible. Half an hour or so probably wont be the end of the world. It is to keep a constant level of the drug in your system.
The nurse that I spoke to seemed to think any time of the day as long as it was the same every day would be fine.

@nmvasey has the sickness passed from the burselin? I start mine on tuesday and not to worried about doing the injections but the potential side effects!

@notReginaPhalange I am starting burselin on day 21 of my cycle. I think that seems to be pretty standard on long protocol however different clinics seems to have different protocols. When will you hear from yours with the exact details?

notReginaPhalange · 13/12/2019 18:20

@Lily999 thank you for sharing your experience. It gives me hope!

@UnicornPuff We have an appointment on the 19th when they will do the tube test (to see if it can go through the uterus with no problems) and they will give us all the medicine. Considering it will be day 13 of the cycle, I hope that we will start on the day 21 of this cycle rather than the next one. Will be up to them to tell us when to start?

@41trying I'm sure I will feel it haha What's AF? Sorry, I'm new to all these abbreviations. Are you trying for the first baby or you already have children?

41trying · 13/12/2019 18:31

I went to clinic on day 3 so they let me start in day 21.
Af, aunt flow lol, you will probably here it a lot
@notReginaPhalange, I have 3 children from previous relationship, then sterlized
Been with hubby 13 years, gone private to see if we cam have child together.

Nmvasey · 13/12/2019 18:45

@UnicornPuff the sickness passed after 2 days, (touch wood) I think it was just my body getting used to it. Still early days though.

UnicornPuff · 13/12/2019 18:45

@41trying I missed that you had started your injections are you getting any side effects? Dont want to be a crying mess over the next couple of weeks!

@notReginaPhalange I am not sure if you will be able to do it in the same cycle. We are on our first (and only) cycle through the NHS and I had the dye test all the way back in March! I have my fingers crossed for you, our clinic only gave us the drugs once we were in this cycle. AF - aunt flo, period.

41trying · 13/12/2019 19:21

@UnicornPuff I did feel a little sick, for a bout an hour or so couple of days. Slight headache but drinking water helps.

Sabz36 · 13/12/2019 19:29

I am also planning to start IVF January. I have the initial nurse meeting to discuss meds early January then expected to start the medication on my first cycle.

It’s weird I have let some family members know so they can attend appointments with me, but when I say things like ooh I wonder what this or that will be like? They just don’t respond

Sabz36 · 13/12/2019 19:37

Also is anyone here doing it alone? Like solo mum (not by choice but by choice)

41trying · 13/12/2019 22:49

@Sabz36 welcome. Glad you find you cam talk to family. Only my sister knows as I dont think I could cope with all the question and then if it didnt work.

Are you doing it alone? Donor?

BaileyBadger4 · 14/12/2019 06:25

Hi guys. I'm on day 17 of taking birth control pills to start off the ivf process. I've just noticed I'm bleeding a small amount. Is this normal on CD 17?? I'm normally regular 27 day cycle every month without fail. Anyone else had irregular bleeding once being put on the pill? Xx

FlapJackered · 14/12/2019 07:45

@BaileyBadger4 I start on New Year's Day. It's going to be a fun Christmas/new year for us! 😬
Mine are being delivered on Tuesday.
I have a couple of extra ones they are putting me on that I had to google, I feel like I am trusting them completely with it all!

@waitingforarainbow that is good to hear clexane is quite common.

Thanks @BambiOnIce80 how was the drag queen? It is amazing all the things we have to do sober now, it's a completely new experience 😂

BambiOnIce80 · 14/12/2019 09:29

The Vivienne did not disappoint, thanks for asking @FlapJackered! 👑💃 I'm really pleased with myself because my will power held out and I didn't drink - if I can get through that night out, then anything else should be easy! 😂 Out again for a meal tonight with friends, but they know that we're on the run up to IVF so there's no peer pressure for the booze there 🥂🚫 How're things at your end? How long until your drugs arrive now?

I also went for the tonic in a gin glass illusion last night @Nmvasey (great minds and all that! 😄). Glad to hear the sicky feeling is starting to pass 🙂

I hope you had an excellent Christmas night out last night @Lily999? How's the head this morning I'm sooooo jealous!?

I'm glad the tip helped @BaileyBadger4 😊 I asked our nurse about how important it was to take the drugs at the same time every day (because I get up crazy early during the week and then have really long lay-ins at the weekend!💤) and she said it didn't matter at all 🤷‍♀️ It's kind of confusing how the advice differs from clinic to clinic! I'm not sure about mid-pill bleeding, but our nurse said to expect AF between stopping the pill on the 26th (start buserelin on the 27th) and our first scan on the 2nd. Maybe give the clinic a quick ring to put your mind at ease?x

Welcome to all the newbies 👋 I hope everyone's got something lovely going on this weekend?🎄☃️🎁🎅🏻

Spshope · 14/12/2019 12:46

Hi @FingersXssd83. I am in the same position but haven’t done a lap - the doctor keeps telling me because the hysterscopy was ok and there is nothing to suggest tubes are not ok then not worth doing it. However we are so unexplained and I wonder if the doctors are missing some clues. Was there any particular reason they recommended the Lap? Any symptoms that you had? In a transfer cycle but so worried I’m just killing the pgs tested embryos :-(

notReginaPhalange · 14/12/2019 23:35

@UnicornPuff I got the tube test done about two months ago, only then we were referred to the IVF treatment. With them, we have had a scan and the next appointment is on the 19th for the uterus check (embrio transfer trial it's called?), it will be day 13 of the cycle. This is when they will give us all medicine which says to me they might let us do it this cycle as there will still be a few days before it. Fingers crossed, otherwise, we might have to postpone for a few months as we have a wedding in October next year :/

41trying · 15/12/2019 14:58

Oh god! Worse day yesterday so far, sick hot sweats all night. I thought I was going to get away with side effects, not so lucky

Nmvasey · 15/12/2019 15:36

Ah no @41trying, I would have thought the symptoms would have been there from the off if you were going to get them. So I’m guessing nights sweats could still be on the cards 😬 hoping it passes for you soon x

waitingforarainbow · 15/12/2019 16:33

I've got my first treatment planning appointment on Wednesday but I was just wondering if anyone here could answer this. Following this appointment, would I have a rough idea of the key dates (embryo collection, transfer, etc.)? I know I'm currently on CD2 and would be starting to down-regulate on CD21. It would be a long protocol cycle. My DH is going away for a few days at the start of February and have visitors in mid-Feb, and I'm wondering whether we can work around this or whether it's better to postpone by a month. x

41trying · 15/12/2019 17:44

@waitingforarainbow. I am on day 8 of buserlin for down regging. I have no clue on dates for EC& transfer yet. I think everyone responds differently. Could be down regging from 2-3 weeks then meds for 10-14 days before collection all depending how your body reacts.

waitingforarainbow · 15/12/2019 18:16

Thank you @41trying - that's really useful to know. I think I'll just delay it a month and keep the whole month completely clear.

MissHoney85 · 15/12/2019 18:24

Hi everyone! I am starting Buserelin tomorrow. I did it in November too but my bleed didn't happen in time and I missed the cut off for starting stims as my clinic is closing over Christmas. 🤬 Slightly annoying to say the least! Looking forward to getting started again though. I found the Buserelin fine last month and actually enjoyed feeling like I was 'doing' something.

Nmvasey · 15/12/2019 19:32

Good evening! Hope everyone is doing good.

I started injecting on 9th Dec and I’m due my period on 25th Dec (Merry Christmas!) my clinic didn’t ask where I was in my cycle. Do you think my period will arrive as norm? Due for scan on 31st Dec

41trying · 15/12/2019 20:13

@@Nmvasey, why did you start on 9th? Did they say for a certain date of cycle?
I started mine 8th which was day 21 and I'm due Tomorrow, but they say it can be early or late

41trying · 15/12/2019 20:15

@@Nmvasey I also have to call my clinic when AF arrives, then they give me date for DR scan and whatever that looks like will determine when I start meds

Nmvasey · 15/12/2019 20:20

@41trying I started on the 9th to time it for the clinic reopening back up in January for scan and then egg collection the following week. Feels like everyone’s start date has been a lot more scientific! 😬
