Hi all,

I can't see a thread for Dec/ Jan yet - maybe because a lot of clinics shut over the holidays - but mine doesn't! Anyone else out there starting in December and want to support each other? This will be my first round so I'm pretty nervous! X

I hope so! Hoping to avoid some of those other symptoms too 🙄🙈

Dec/ Jan IVF support
Nmvasey · 10/12/2019 19:39

That was me doing the standard google🙈 at 4am as I was feeling 🤢

BambiOnIce80 · 10/12/2019 21:00

It's microgynon @Nmvasey , so literally the pill! 💊😉

The sicky thing doesn't sound like any fun at all 😕 I also don't like the idea of having to give up spicey food on top of the booze over Christmas - I bloody love curry! 😰

duckhouse · 10/12/2019 21:55

Hi @BambiOnIce80 good to hear that everything is as planned so far,. Yes i started my buslerin injections today,. Just a day behind @Nmvasey 😬 wishing good luck to all and hoping for positive results for all 😊😊

Nmvasey · 11/12/2019 07:16

@BambiOnIce80 oh why no spicy food? I’ve not been told anything x

BambiOnIce80 · 11/12/2019 07:51

It was on your screenshot of what to avoid if we're feeling sick from the buserelin @Nmvasey 💉🤢🍛🚫 I have a sneaky feeling that I'm going to comfort eat like a mo-fo over Christmas seems booze has been banned! 😫 That said, they told me yesterday that my BMI was 21 & the ideal BMI for IVF is 23, so really I'm following clinical advice to reach the ideal BMI... right?! 😬

Things feel eerily calm this morning - I guess I feel a bit of a fraud for only taking the pill, rather than having an extra 2 weeks of buserelin! I've also put my trusty thermometer away because I guess there's no point in temping during an IVF cycle 🤷‍♀️ DP's pretty happy that the 5.30am beeping is no more though! 🌡️😂

Nmvasey · 11/12/2019 09:59

@BambiOnIce80 it would help if I read my own content 😂 defo, I think you should carb load... get that BMI up, any excuse.

Hope everyone else is doing ok!

Lily999 · 11/12/2019 11:32

Hi Girls, glad to see things are moving forward for some of you, @BambiOnIce80, I totally get that nervous feeling about that particular phone call or meeting when they say "for this or that we are going to delay the start", I actually had that when we were on our screening appointment at the clinic in August to start the process and the doctor said ok, let's just do a quick scan. Then said it looks like you "might" have fluid in one of your tubes and if you do that halves your chances of succeeding with IVF so I recommend you have a lap surgery before we start. Waiting time for the surgery is about 6months, then we will wait for 3months once the surgery is done so you can recover. It was an absolte mightmare.
I ended up having the surgery done privately and turned out there was no fluid so we could have started in August.
But hey ho, here we are! Now received our bloods back last week, all good, AMH is 15.2 that's normal range, now waiting for the meds to arrive, then we can start finally! Unless another of these calls happen..

@Hopefully84 did they end up freezing more embies? How are you feeling?

candycornlover · 11/12/2019 12:15

Hi Everyone,

I am starting my FET and I had my prostap injection this morning.
This is my second go from my frozen embryos which were created 10 yrs ago. The first go resulted in my beautiful 9 yr old daughter.

It's very scary starting all this IVF stuff again after so long. All the protocols have changed now but I'm feeling hopeful as I was successful before 💖

Wishing everyone else here lots of luck 🍀🍀

BaileyBadger4 · 11/12/2019 15:43

Hi guys just had a quick catch up on how you're all doing. Exciting time ahead! Really good to hear about how you're all getting on with the down reg injections, especially those on Buserilin, as I start my Buserilin jabs on 24th this month.

I have injection training at the clinic tomorrow 8:30am 😬 I have to go alone as my partner can't get the time off work 😭 bit scared tbh lol What is the injection training like ladies? And did any of you go by yourselves? Xx

41trying · 11/12/2019 16:20

@BaileyBadger4. All exciting times ahead.
I am on day 4 of buserlin.
At this clinic they only showed me how to inject buserlin aa they say they dont want people to forget as it could be a few weeks before the next one starts.
Buserlin is very straight forward and a tiny needle.
I have all other meds and they show me the next when ready.
My other clinic showed all at once and then I got slightly confused when it came to it. But that said you get instructions and after the first go it all was clear.
Good luck, it's nothing really to worry about

BambiOnIce80 · 11/12/2019 17:07

I had my training yesterday @BaileyBadger4 and I start my buserelin on the 27th 💉👍 I wasn't sure what to expect, but the nurse basically demonstrated it to me and then got me to have a go (you inject it into a lump of plasticy foam, so don't worry - you don't practice on yourself!). With hindsight I think my advice would be to ask the nurse if she/he would mind you videoing them on your phone whilst they're demonstrating it, especially if you're going on your own 🎥 That way you won't be doubting yourself when the time comes to start. I'm kind of lucky and have had to use syringes/draw up medication in the past as part of my job, but I'm still a bit worried about forgetting something or doing it in the wrong order! DP is blessed with a photographic memory, so he's promised to keep me right when the time comes 💉😄 I bet there'll be YouTube videos knocking about too - there seems to be a YouTube video for everything!

Sounds like you've been through quite an unnecessary ordeal there @Lily999 💐 Excellent news about your AMH result though 🙂

Welcome @candycornlover 👋 Sending you positive vibes for second time lucky 🍀

Lily999 · 11/12/2019 17:24

Hi Bambi, that made me giggle as this is Dh's favorite saying when it comes to all sort of DIY stuff need to be done around the house! "There's a YouTube video for everything nowadays!" :)

Yes it does make me feel frustrated to know we could have finished with the entire cycle by now, but hey ho, there is a reason for everything.

Photographic memory? That must be super cool!

Nmvasey · 11/12/2019 17:35

There’s lots of you tube videos if there’s been a few weeks before training and starting. I did a little refresher the night before which was helpful

waitingforarainbow · 12/12/2019 13:50

Hello! 👋🏻 May I join, please? Have been TTC#2 for 16 months but we're up against a very low sperm count. Conceived by some miracle in July but miscarried at 6 weeks. Also had two miscarriages while TTC#2, so three in total.

Although we're trying to fix the low sperm count issue, we're also proceeding with IVF/ICSI in January. Feel nervous but also excited to have a plan of action. Got our first treatment planning appointment next week.

Good luck to everyone else on this crazy journey! x

waitingforarainbow · 12/12/2019 13:58

D'oh - I meant two miscarriages while TTC#1

FlapJackered · 13/12/2019 07:26

Hi guys, so I had my consultation and told about the protocol and meds etc.
Has anyone else been prescribed clexane from transfer? Apparently I have to take it until 12 weeks if I get a bfp 😬
We are all set to start beginning of January!
Actually beginning to get excited about it now. 🤞🏻

Hi @waitingforarainbow Sorry to hear about your MCs. I am in a similar boat in that I had a mc a year ago, but also have MFI issues. So we are starting in January with ivf.
Good luck with the appointment!

@BambiOnIce80 I had my training on injections yesterday. I didn't get the foam thing to inject into though, that sounds helpful. That is a really good tip about videoing it, I wish I had read your post before my appointment! I have already forgotten half of what she said 🙈. I think youtube is the way forward!!!
How are you feeling about it all now?

@granddesigns the waiting is so horrible, I really feel for you. I will keep everything crossed you get a decision soon. 🤞🏻

BambiOnIce80 · 13/12/2019 07:59

Sounds like things are hotting up at your end @FlapJackered 🤩 I'm not having to take clexane, but I don't have any prothrombotic factors (that I know of, at least!) - did they tell you that you're more likely to form clots for some reason? That's what clexane does; stops blood from clotting so easily.

Welcome @waitingforarainbow 👋 Your appointment will be here before you know it 👍

The photographic memory seems to be very selective @Lily999! 😂 How're things going up North?x

How's the buserelin going @Nmvasey? Are those jabs becoming second nature? 💉🤞

Not much to report at my end 😏 Day 4 of microgynon and have my first booze temptation to avoid tonight... Going to see a drag queen sober! 👑 💃🥂🚫 Wish me luck! 😫

Nmvasey · 13/12/2019 08:06

@bambionice80 yeah I’m used to them now thanks, also feel less sick, my body must have adapted too (touch wood!). I had a work night this week where I drank tonic in a gin glass 😂 my manager and one colleague know but didn’t want to tell everyone else. Enjoy drag sober 😬

Lily999 · 13/12/2019 12:16

Hi girls, @BambiOnIce80 I have just had a call from the doctor and she said she is putting our schedule together now. Asked when the first day of my last period was and I told her it;s today lol as it came this morning.
So I will start in my January cycle (unless I fell pregnant during the most wonderful time of the year... haha) as it is said after lap surgery it is easier to get pregnant for 3months and this is now our first one as last month we had to sit out as I was healing.
Now we are waiting for the meds to arrive whoop whoop! Then starting in my next cycle, can't wait!
We are also having our Xmas night out tonight @Nmvasey, and I am going to let myself enjoy a drink or two as we are not starting before Jan :) (silver lining I guess, would still swap with you though haha)!

waitingforarainbow · 13/12/2019 14:03

Thanks for the welcome @FlapJackered and @BambiOnIce80 ❤️

Also @BambiOnIce80 I've been on Clexane from ovulation every TTC cycle since my second MC. I don't have a blood clotting issue but the fertility Dr I saw privately recommended Clexane 'just in case' due to my history of MCs, and the Dr at the IVF clinic agreed. Maybe your Dr is doing the same. x

waitingforarainbow · 13/12/2019 14:04

Oh sorry - I got mixed up. The Clexane comment was meant for @FlapJackered

BaileyBadger4 · 13/12/2019 14:27

Hello everyone 👋😊
Glad to hear everything's moving forward for you all!
I had injection training at the hospital yesterday. I went by myself and was absolutely fine 👌
@BambiOnIce80 I filmed the demonstration like you said. Such a great tip!
@FlapJackered I also had injection training yesterday 😊 and will be starting Buserilin injections on Xmas Eve! Is that when you start?
I picked up the massive bag of drugs yesterday 😂 looks worse than it is though as is mainly syringes etc
Feeling a bit more confident now!

I've got a question ladies, is it important to inject the Buserilin at the exact same time each day? The nurse advised i do it in the morning but I work nightshift so my morinjng routine can vary by a couple of hours sometimes 🤔 Xx

notReginaPhalange · 13/12/2019 14:37

Hi everyone,
I would like to join your thread. My treatment starts in Dec-Jan. In fact, on what day of the cycle do you need to start Buserelin injections? If day 21 then we will start in December and it will be a lovely Christmas...
Dreading of the injections, please tell me it's not as scary. I think i will pass out.

Lily999 · 13/12/2019 15:05

Hi @notReginaPhalange, welcome to the thread! As I am also only waiting for the start I can't give info on the ivf injections, however I had a lap surgery last month to check on my tubes and had to inject myself with blood thinners every day for a week.
I used to be terrified of needles (couldn't even look at the screen on TV), so the first one was unimaginable, but must tell you once it was done I felt like a bloody superhero! After that it was all easy peasy.
