Hi all,

I can't see a thread for Dec/ Jan yet - maybe because a lot of clinics shut over the holidays - but mine doesn't! Anyone else out there starting in December and want to support each other? This will be my first round so I'm pretty nervous! X

Really. I wished he had come in now! They always just my name like he isn't allowed in but the other day I was so nervous I really needed him with me

Sabz36 · 11/01/2020 20:26

@Kellyprt1 I am single 🙃 so I was given a IVF journey book which I literally note everything in. Unless one of my sisters come and then I tune out and imagine holding a baby lol

Minster2012 · 11/01/2020 20:31

Unfortunately mine isn’t ever able to come to anything other than the really important ones, scans don’t count as work too busy and he needs to save the time for after ET but yes at ours they can come in anyone can xx

UnicornPuff · 11/01/2020 20:31

@Kellyprt1my husband has come to one of the scans. They even have more than one chair so I guess some people bring more than one person. I think as long as you are happy I can see why they would not be.

BambiOnIce80 · 11/01/2020 20:36

@BaileyBadger4 on Tuesday I'll be in for EC at 8am for all the preop stuff, procedure at 11am and then stay for observation for 3-4 hours (but if everything goes swimmingly they've said they'll let us go after 2 hours)... So basically it's the best part of a day! ET on the other hand is supposed to only take 30 minutes 🤷‍♀️

DP has been into every scan with me too @Kellyprt1 , which is handy for taking in all the info that they throw at you 🤯 Drag DH in with you next time for sure! 😉

Good luck @Rovera12 and everyone else who's taking trigger shots tonight 🍀

I hope you're still feeling good post EC @Meganlouise1988 💐

MissHoney85 · 11/01/2020 20:37

Trigger given! A little freaked out because a little bit of the fluid seemed to leak out from around the base of the needle while I was injecting. Not a lot but I'm worried now of course! The needle was on firmly, it was just the pressure I think - note to others, go slowly! Nothing that can be done now I guess except🤞🤞🤞

Nmvasey · 11/01/2020 20:55

Same, my other half always comes in with me. Oooh I’d not considered really having to take stuff in with me 🤔 hopefully I’ll receive some more info at next scans. My friend mentioned that they tell you at our clinic to go in with a full bladder. Anyone who is ready for EC have they gave your OH instructions as to when to... you know! 💦 - sorry 🙈 beforehand like they they do for semen analysis, is it the same?

BaileyBadger4 · 11/01/2020 20:58

@Nmvasey I asked that question at my scan appointment a few days ago and the nurse said it should be 3 days before EC

Nmvasey · 11/01/2020 21:01

Thanks@BaileyBadger4

Rovera12 · 11/01/2020 21:06

Trigger done!!! It was not bad except a little came out from my tummy taking out the needle.

41trying · 11/01/2020 21:09

Evening all!
Trigger done and dusted, no more injections now just have to get through tomorrow for Monday morning.

MissHoney85 · 11/01/2020 21:14

I was just thinking, in a weird way I'm going to miss doing the injections. It's been the only part of the process where I've really felt in control, like there are things I can do to influence the outcome. It's out of my hands again now! IVF does weird things to your brain... 😂

41trying · 11/01/2020 21:15

@Nmvasey, when I have EC before they made me go to the toilet just before, a little like scans.
When I had my trial transfer I had to have full bladder.

Kellyprt1 · 11/01/2020 21:40

Good luck everyone with EC.
I am really uncomfortable tonight.. My belly looks huge.. Hoping its just bloat. Thank you Regarding husband coming in to scan.

Minster2012 · 11/01/2020 22:57

Well done to those with trigger shots done! I was so scared for ours not helped when we messed it up 😂😂 relax tomorrow @MissHoney85, @Rovera12, @Nmvasey & @41trying xx

FlapJackered · 12/01/2020 07:20

I didn't realise the trigger is taken 2 days before EC.
Well done everyone! Tomorrow is the day!! 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

Meganlouise1988 · 12/01/2020 08:41

Hi

We had some bad news yesterday - none of our eggs fertilised. They said the sperm wasn’t moving when they thawed it so it looks like the freezing process killed it. We are devastated. They said they would check again today to see if anything has happened but I’m not getting my hopes up. I’m going to take a few days off, grieve and then look at other options. I wondered if they would do my egg collection and his sperm retrieval at the same time?

Re EC, one day is defo enough! Although saying that I was in bed at 8 last night and slept for 12 hours, but that’s probably also because I feel so sad. I’m taking progesterone pessaries to help with pregnancy hormones and my womb lining still (how cruel) and they’re causing a lot of painful bloating.

I’ll probably still hang around on here for a little longer as would love to see how you ladies get on, I genuinely hope you all have successful outcomes, and I hope (I’m the nicest possible way) not to see any of you on a forum in the future! Xxx

Minster2012 · 12/01/2020 08:50

@FlapJackered yes it’s to mature the eggs, it has to be a certain number of hours, I think 36 before your scheduled EC that’s why the time of the 2 shots is very important

@meganlouise88 that’s devastating I’m so sorry you’ve had that news. What was the reason you had to freeze his sperm originally? Fingers crossed you can go again as you got a good number of eggs so hopefully you can get a good number again and tweak that. Sending lots of hugs xxxxx

Meganlouise1988 · 12/01/2020 09:03

@Minster2012 he doesn’t ejaculate sperm. They didn’t know why but when they checked his bloods etc it turns out he carries 2 x cystic fibrosis genes. So he had SSR and they got a few vials, but when they thawed one they’d stopped moving. I don’t get why they would inject them if they weren’t moving?! There’s still 2 vials but my feeling is that if it happened once it would happen again. It’s a lot to come to terms with. I am just waiting for them to call now to see if a miracle has happened over night. X

Rovera12 · 12/01/2020 09:22

@ Meganlouise1988 OMG so sorry to hear the news, please take care of yourself and be strong.
I am a kinda worried now, my partner had SSR too because he was not ejaculating sperm. All sort of blood test was done which cane back normal, they could not find the reason as to why he was not producing sperm. We have 9 vials stored,I pray a miracle happens overnight for you .Fingers 🤞

Minster2012 · 12/01/2020 09:28

@meganlouise1988 ah I see, (clean sheets always though! Sorry that’s where my brain went to lighten the mood!) yes that does seem very odd to inject it, because surely they would have seen it as not viable and could thaw another? The reason I say this is because for our frozen embryo transfer on the morning of our transfer our clinic thaws one embryo, if that’s not viable they take another out & thaw and can thaw 3 on the day one by one so I would have thought they could have not used the first vial & thawed another whilst your eggs were still ok then if that didn’t work then freeze your eggs instead????
I would be asking the clinic why they used dead sperm & wasted your eggs & you having had the drugs etc?
Sorry to be blunt

UnicornPuff · 12/01/2020 09:33

@Meganlouise1988 I am so sorry to hear your news. Did they do a sample freeze and thaw when they collected? I would have thought the chance of it thawing well would be similar to a frozen embryo prior to FET so the remaining vials could be perfect. Maybe a couple of the sperm were moving but majority not and they did ICSI with those. I have everything crossed for something to have happened over night.
I thought CABV was ridiculously rare, that's the same reason my husband has azoospermia. There seems to be hardly anyone around with it!

Meganlouise1988 · 12/01/2020 09:40

@Minster2012 thank you, I’m going to do exactly that - I don’t know enough about it to question and I was in shock when they called yesterday, but the more I think about it the more I think why on earth would you do that? Surely they should have consulted us???

@UnicornPuff what is CABV?? They did his SSR around 3 months ago and then froze, then thawed on Friday (I think). They said originally that they got 3 vials - 2 we’re moving well and one not so well. Surely they would have used one of the ones that were moving? Now I’m worrying they didn’t....

Minster2012 · 12/01/2020 09:56

@meganlouise1988 of course you will have been in shock, anyone would have. Can you put on speakerphone with DH & have pad & pen ready for call back?
I would have thought the process would have been similar to a thaw & check for an embryo which is “check its growing as it should” so for sperm that would be those & check movement surely against some kind of scale before it goes anywhere near an egg? Ok frozen eggs don’t do as well as frozen embryos but still, So the eggs weren’t wasted. That would be what I would ask.

Minster2012 · 12/01/2020 09:56
