Dec/ Jan IVF support

Hi all,

I can't see a thread for Dec/ Jan yet - maybe because a lot of clinics shut over the holidays - but mine doesn't! Anyone else out there starting in December and want to support each other? This will be my first round so I'm pretty nervous! X

Ha well we have nearly got away with telling them we can't do it so I'm not going to tell him any different now haha.i would of thought it would be an issue just in case you ovulate and have all those eggs. I was told not to but I did when I first started stims as I knew I was safe.

So what would the potential risks be of DTD during stims? Why do they generally advise against it?

Because there is a potiental to ovulate and no control over how many. That's what I read although we take the DR to stop ovulation it can fail

Yes you take the drugs to control things and that can add in the element of uncontrolled nature whilst they are trying to manage everything I thought or certainly that’s what we’ve been told, we can DTD whenever we want until ET (we are FET so no EC) but long as protected and we were told that right from starting in nov as I commented to the clinic it’s annoying ive just taken a preg test & that was our last shot to save about £2.5k!

I've started stims this morning! Injection was easier than I thought it would be. Feels real now 😬. They weren't bothered about uti/ antibiotics at all so all that worrying was for nothing!

How is everyone else going with their stimms? I’ve been feeling quite smug about the lack of horrible side effects, but Menopur has done a number on me this morning (Day 7) - I feel so ill and nauseous.

I'm feeling a bit 'meh' today ladies 😓 Symptoms have completely disappeared, which obviously has me catastrophising that it's all going wrong and has stopped working 🙄 I was feeling relatively positive yesterday too! Had acupuncture and my acupuncturist thew in an extra 15 minutes for free so that we could have a good catch up! 😊 As I'm stimming she also did 'electro' acupuncture for the first time to help stimulate the follicles - has anyone had it before? ⚡📍 It was surprisingly relaxing! But today I'm strangely fearing the worse for tomorrow's scan 🤷‍♀️ Just want it over with now so that I know what's going on 🔮

Thanks @BambiOnIce80 ! Yes, next scan and blood test on Tues/ day 6. It feels a bit overwhelming to finally be at this stage! Finding it tough to concentrate on work today 🤭

Hi @Chooklass, so exciting you started stimms, I am the same as @Sabz36 just waiting waiting for my period to come, it is due to arrive this weekend (Sunday) but I expect it to be late as now I want it to come :)
My head is running endlessly with setting up different scenarios same as you like what happens if EC falls to the weekend? The information letter says they do egg collections Monday to Friday, but they are open during the weekend between 8-12 just not for EC... But if ET fall on to the weekend they do it.
Also I called and checked what happens if I get my period on Sunday will someone be there to arrange my scan for Tuesday? They said yes, but even if they don't pick it up I should leave a voicemail so they know. Also said if my period comes during later the day (afternoon/evening ish) then they consider the next day as CD1 that was a bit surprising..
@bambionice80 I heard it can and will be a rollercoaster, sounds like your meds are working then! Silver lining and all..
so counting the days until Sunday, I can't wait to start stimms next week and join you all! reading this thread is a bit like looking into my future haha thanks for all the useful info. Stimms will last about 2weeks? Or 9days?

I still feel fine keep lifting my top up to see if I'm bloated hahaha I think I am. My acupunturist said I was today but then once I turned I had been for pee he said of doesn't look like you are now arrgh. I am so nervous.. One more night.

Ok so I've just turned to Dr.Google for some more info on the DTD thing (panicking we've been given wrong info by clinic) It says online that because ovaries are stimulated during this phase, unprotected sex comes with a risk of multiple births. Also because ovaries are swollen and cystic at this stage this is also a concern. That's all perfectly understandable to me so whyy has my clinic stated we're fine to have unprotected as and when we want 🤷‍♀️ (not gunna be happening anyway lol just intrigued to find out) lol Only thing I can think is we have severe MFI so virtually impossible for us to get pregnant naturally - maybe this is why they've told me no rules around DTD 🤔 Very odd x

I feel incredibly bloated but to look at I don’t think I look particularly bloated. And @BambiOnIce80 I’ve been exactly the same!! I get symptoms and then they go. Like I felt so sick for days and that’s gone now. But everything still carried on growing so don’t worry! I’ve been having twinges this afternoon, mostly my left ovary which worries me as now sorting the right isn’t doing what it should. Lol the worry is never ending. I’m ridiculously tired though so going home to have a nap. In hospital for 745 tomorrow morning and going to theatre around 9. Can’t believe it’s really happening. Had an emotional goodbye at work as off for 2 weeks now, hard to imagine I could be going back pregnant. Don’t want to tempt fate, just so excited and nervous. Hope everyone’s ok and good itch to those with scans and starting stims over the next few days. I’m not sure when I’ll next be on but I’ll update you as soon as I can xxx

@jcurve I felt so ill and nausea on day 6/7 of stims, I feel much better today.
I will find out tomorrow if my egg collection will be Monday.
I have had no symptoms today,fingers crossed for my scan tomorrow

Urgh, I've been struggling to concentrate at work since the beginning of December when I started DR @Chooklass! 😣 Good luck for Tuesday's scan 🍀

Stimms is usually for as long as it takes to get to EC @Lily999 , so could be anywhere between 10 - 14 days. Not long now until you start! 🤩

Thanks so much for the reassurance @Meganlouise1988 ❤️ I just don't feel anywhere near as symptom-y as I have for the last 7 days 🤷‍♀️ Can't help but feel it's a bad sign! 😞 My scan is tomorrow morning though, so at least there's not much longer to wait before I'm put out of my misery! 😪 I'll be sat in the waiting room and sending you positive vibes for your EC 💓🍀💓🍀

How much water have you ladies been advised to drink during stims? I vaguely remember being told an amount at my nurse chat a month ago but nurse today didn't mention anything about that. Day 1 and I already have a headache so I'm wondering ... 🤔

@Chooklass I was just told to stay well hydrated. I have been drinking 2-3 litres a day mainly because I have a continuous headache since starting stims that paracetamol doesn't touch and cant take ibuprofen.
Other than a headache I have been symptom free so feeling massively apprehensive about day 6 progress scan tomorrow.

@meganlouise1988 massive good luck for tomorrow!! Hope it goes smoothly for you & you get lots of lovely eggs, is you DH going in with you?? When I had my EC my DH came in & he could remember them saying things about my follicles I couldn’t Cos of the drugs it was helpful & not! But good that he did, like they said one was hidden & they had to rummage to get it & that’s why I was then really achy after! & I said some funny things apparently!! 🤣

@UnicornPuff the stims and also the drugs that they just used for DR for me gave me terrible headaches 😔

Urgh I have just done the cetrotide injection and did not enjoy that!! It itches like a beast and went very red and blobby. Feeling a bit sore and sorry for myself now. Ovaries feel achey too. Egg collection is on Wednesday which seems sooo far away 😩
And I just had coconut water in a wine glass...just sums things up at the moment 😂

@Chooklass I have been trying to drink 3 litres a day, it's hard to remember though!

@BambiOnIce80 sure appointment is for 9.20am, I am worrying about how many good eggs I will get on egg collection, hoping I don’t develop OHSS and so on. God help me my head is about to burst 😁😁.

@Minster2012 have you found anything that helps? I thought I had got over the DR moods to be equally moody for different a different reason!
