Hi all,

I can't see a thread for Dec/ Jan yet - maybe because a lot of clinics shut over the holidays - but mine doesn't! Anyone else out there starting in December and want to support each other? This will be my first round so I'm pretty nervous! X

That’s no problem @Feline123, yes it’s anyone going into the clinical areas. I’m sure the staff have found deodorant and things they can wear but we are so worried about not causing harm that neither of us shower in the morning if we are going into the clinic! Just in case! I don’t want to harm anything for anyone! My OH came into the room with me for my egg collections (& told me things that were said I couldn’t remember due to the drugs which was very weird but helpful) so definitely if he is going in.
My best friend was a surrogate for us on our other IVF FET (which worked, first time) & she loved a hot bath too, was at ours the whole week of the FET & I remember her specifically wanting to indulge in a bath the night before which she did!

Feline123 · 08/01/2020 16:59

Thanks both, think I’ll take deodorant with me and keep it in the car so the journey home isn’t so pongy 😂

I’m wondering how it will work with my EC likely being on Monday... I thought best case scenario was a 5 day ET but that would take me to Saturday, when they’re closed 🤔

LottSE20 · 08/01/2020 17:12

Thank you for all the nice messages. I know you are right but can’t help feeling gutted. Wishing everyone luck with this cycle and - in the best possible way - I hope I don’t see any of you in the Feb/March IVF group 😘

Rovera12 · 08/01/2020 17:45

@Feline123 same question in my head, like if my egg collection happens to be monday how is it possible for a transfer to happen Saturday.
They could have oncall nurses, embroylogist, sonographer and co I told myself.

41trying · 08/01/2020 17:54

Evening all, so much to catch up on again.
@LottSe20, so sorry to hear your news, I went through the same first go.
Scan was much better today. 6 follicles all grown with the upper dose, between 12-15, then one smaller one. When monday I only had couple small I am pleased. No call back today so all on track on change in meds. Lining was great too. Appointment and bloods wed to see if I take one or two trigger sat for EC Monday.
From having natural/Mild with only one egg collected then nothing from that, I am feeling slightly more at ease today. But they do say it only takes one.

MissHoney85 · 08/01/2020 17:59

@Feline123 and @Rovera12 I'm in the same boat of potentially (hopefully!) having a Saturday transfer. I'm guessing they maybe just have a skeleton staff in on a Saturday and do it all in the morning or something? My understanding is that transfer doesn't take long. I'm sure they've thought it through anyhow!

BambiOnIce80 · 08/01/2020 17:59

That sounds like a very good lining to me @Meganlouise1988 😀 I can't remember exactly, but I think anything over 8mm is ideal 👌

Not sure if all clinics are the same @Feline123 @Rovera12 but my clinic told me that they do open on Saturday and Sunday mornings just for EC and ET - they just don't do standard appointments on those days.

BambiOnIce80 · 08/01/2020 18:01

My clinic said it's 30 minutes for a transfer @MissHoney85 - which sounds super speedy for something so potentially life changing!

Kellyprt1 · 08/01/2020 19:09

Day 8 stims done. One more to go and then Friday I find out what's happening. I have really struggled waiting till day 10 for first scan.
@Meganlouise1988 did you let your OH go football tonight or is it your trigger shot?
Mine has gone.. He is very happy I was on bureslin a week longer than planned my EC should of been today ha

Meganlouise1988 · 08/01/2020 19:38

@Kellyprt1 haha no he’s not gone. Trigger shot is at 9:30 so we’re watching it on the tv! Oh I know, I think out of the whole process the waiting has been what I’ve found the hardest. How come you’ve been on buserelin a week longer? Sorry if you’ve already said. X

Kellyprt1 · 08/01/2020 19:46

@Meganlouise1988 I did not bleed till day 15 so had to push DR scan back at week so pushed all dates back a week
Good luck with trigger shot. I'm sure you will be fine :)

Sabz36 · 08/01/2020 19:59

I am due to start stims when AF comes. I haven't been so excited for my period to start in over 3 years

Feline123 · 08/01/2020 20:03

@BambiOnIce80 @MissHoney85 I’ll try and remember to ask when I go for my next scan! I have a feeling they don’t do EC at weekends cos it seemed like that wasn’t an option when they changed it from Friday to Monday!

I’m stressing out a bit because they’ve given me one of those vials which you have to mix yourself for Gonal F... it’s just 75 iu and it’s for me to use tomorrow as well as my pen, as I don’t have quite enough for my full dosage in my pen. It looks so complicated and I’m so worried I’m not going to do it right! To make matters worse, I’m going to be on my own doing it tomorrow as my husband is out. Has anyone had any experience mixing Gonal f rather than using the pen?

41trying · 08/01/2020 20:22

@Feline123, you will be fine mixing. If you nervous look it on YouTube and I'm sure it will make you feel better

Meganlouise1988 · 08/01/2020 21:36

Just done my trigger shots - I was a bit apprehensive as heard they were stingy little bitches but they were probably the easiest injections of the whole process!!! I’m day 12 now and sore when walking 👎

MissHoney85 · 08/01/2020 21:42

@Meganlouise1988 exciting! Good luck! 🤞🤞🤞

Meganlouise1988 · 08/01/2020 22:05

Thanks @MissHoney85 😘

Does anyone know why I would have had two injections of ovitrelle? Do some only have one?

Feline123 · 08/01/2020 22:06

@41trying thank you, I’ve watched a YouTube video and it makes a lot more sense than the instructions! Xx

BaileyBadger4 · 08/01/2020 22:10

Hey ladies 👋 So I'm officially in the stims gang 🙌 first one done & dusted tonight 👌 Decided to do it at 6pm as I work nightshift and needed to choose a time where I'm able to do it before work. Couldn't be dealing with carrying all my vials into work with me 🤦‍♀️ lol decided on tea time once OH gets home from work.

Mixing up the Menopur went ok. Had to discard the first two water vials though as I snapped the top off too hard and spilt some of the water each time 😭 in the end OH had to do this part for me and is going to do it from now on lol so fiddly! Once I'd drawn up all 3 vials and swapped needles over the actual injection itself was absolutely fine! However the mixing up actually took a little longer than expected. Probs have to set aside around half an hour each eve to do them.

Those of you on Menopur, can I ask, is it almost a syringe full of solution you inject by the time all 3 vials are drawn up? Mine came to 0.9ml in the 1ml syringe, so almost full - seemed like a lot of liquid. But I vaguely remember from the demonstration that that's about right I think 🤔 lol

Also had a bit of a struggle with the non-educated tonight 🙄 (bless em) lol
Spent some time at the in-laws, MIL asked lots of quite personal questions worded in a less than sensitive manner 😣 and SIL is adamant that the ICSI treatment will definitely be successful.. something along the lines of "cos they put a sperm directly into the egg to fertilise then surely it's guaranteed to work" 🙄 Very few people realise there are actually many many hurdles to overcome before even reaching EC/ET stage! I had to make a swift exit as she was arguing our chances of success against what the clinic drs have told us, and I got a real lump in my throat 😢 oh how we all so wish it was guaranteed ❤️

41trying · 08/01/2020 22:20

@Feline123, glad you tube helped.
@BaileyBadger4 I have menopur 1200, so only have to put 2 water into the pot and a 450 vial, I think as people take different dose, amount and vial will be different. When I use 600, I only mix one water, if that makes sense?

41trying · 08/01/2020 22:21

@Meganlouise1988, when I did trigger last cycle I had 2 cetrotide, it all depends on follicles and bloods I think

BaileyBadger4 · 08/01/2020 22:26

@41trying yeh that's good point actually. I'm on 225ui Menopur (1 water to 3 tablet vials) I guess, as every persons dosage is different the amount of liquid in the syringe is bound to be different. That makes sense x

Meganlouise1988 · 08/01/2020 22:27

@BaileyBadger4 congrats on first stims!! Our stims injection amount was literally different every time - sometimes would be 0.9, sometimes 0.6. I have no idea how this happened?!

Minster2012 · 08/01/2020 22:32

Oh goodness @BaileyBadger4 that sounds horrible, my in laws are similar, def think IVF works completely & that you are def gonna get a baby. Especially as the 2 couples they know (including us) to have had it have worked first time. Despite me constantly saying it’s usually 1 in 3 chance.

I would say something which might be
a bit insensitive too like “if it were just a case of the sperm fertilising the egg meaning a baby then they’d be no miscarriages but there’s still a fair few more stages than that otherwise everyone would get pregnant trying easy surely?” But that’s just me

BaileyBadger4 · 08/01/2020 23:43

Also, an interesting one guys, I phoned the clinic today re my question on intercourse during stims phase. Specifically asked what the rules were around DTD whilst taking stims and her reply was, there are none! 🤔 I confirmed does it not have to be protected sex during stims phase or leading up to EC and she said nope, no rules regarding this at all! As long as OH is producing every 3 days, it literally makes no difference how apparently. Sooo weird how most of you have been told different to me regarding protected BD around this time 🤷‍♀️
