Hi all,

I can't see a thread for Dec/ Jan yet - maybe because a lot of clinics shut over the holidays - but mine doesn't! Anyone else out there starting in December and want to support each other? This will be my first round so I'm pretty nervous! X

@Minster2012 sounds like we are at pretty much identical points in the frozen cycle. Its reassuring to know other people at same point.

@Nmvasey if unsure with meds I'd check with clinic. But also I wouldn't worry too much if you only lost a little sure they allow for some inaccuracy as non of us are trained and all just doing our best. A friend of mine somehow missed an entire injection (she's still not sure how) and she has just welcomed their little boy at the end of December from their first ivf cycle.

Sabz36 · 04/01/2020 07:48

@minister2012 I went for a scan Thursday and they put me on estrogen until AF next week then I start stimulation injections and egg retrieval. So I'm believing I am doing a fresh transfer all being well

Minster2012 · 04/01/2020 08:01

Ooooo all exciting! @Sabz36 that’s good news, I don’t know how long the fresh cycles are but yes we seem similar although ours is frozen we are hoping for transfer provisionally 29th Jan so far.

@Nmvasey do t worry about a small loss of meds, we buggered up the trigger shot before EC not realising there were 2 vials we were meant to mix and it was ok they still matured

jcurve · 04/01/2020 08:08

We started our short protocol last night. I had a stressful six hours yesterday as my baseline scan showed a functional cyst & we needed bloods signed off to go ahead, but finally got the call at nearly 9pm.

The jabs (Menopur & Gonal-F) were absolutely fine but the whole thing feels very surreal at the moment. @Rovera12 it looks like I’m one day behind you.

FlapJackered · 04/01/2020 08:09

Hi ladies, I started stims last night. It was actually much easier than anticipated and didn't hurt at all. I have my first scan booked for Monday, just keeping everything else crossed that it all goes smoothly.

Has anyone felt any side effects from the stim meds?

Nmvasey · 04/01/2020 09:19

There’s a programme on Netflix called sex explained and there’s an episode about infertility. It’s a bit cheesy but if anyone’s interested 🤷‍♀️

BambiOnIce80 · 04/01/2020 10:11

I spotted that one @Nmvasey and think I'll give it a whirl when DP is out (he's already sat through 'making babies' on iplayer! 😂). Sorry to hear about the injection stress last night - you're absolutely right though, it'll get easier 💪

Congrats on starting stims @jcurve @FlapJackered! 🤩

I'm day 3 of stims and wasn't really noticing anything until last night. I was getting in the bath and felt quite tender/sensitive around my lower abdomen. Feels kind of taut (for want of a better word!) down there this morning, but not sure if I'm just looking for symptoms of the gonal-f working that aren't there?! 🤷‍♀️ Guess I'll find out how it's all going on Tuesday's scan 🔮

Rovera12 · 04/01/2020 12:08

@jcurve Congrats on starting meds, yes you are a day behind.
@BambiOnIce80 I am one day behind you aswellSmile
@FlapJackered I am not sure if it's the med but i felt bloated all night and i am only on day 2 of stims.

Anyone starting cetrotide tomorrow Sunday?

Mercy87 · 04/01/2020 14:25

Hello everyone, new to Mumsnet and IVF - will be starting on meds this cycle, around 12th Jan - anyone on the same time frame? We'll be doing ICSI due to low sperm but other test results for me have all been positive so far so fingers crossed!! One and only NHS funded cycle so hoping to get a number of frosties as well as a fresh transfer, although they think it fairly likely I'll get mild OHSS so might have to freeze the lot (hoping there are some to freeze of course) and do FET start of March instead of start of Feb. Based in Berkshire.

Meganlouise1988 · 04/01/2020 15:09

@FlapJackered I messaged my friend on Thursday morning panicking I hadn’t had any side effects...then since Thursday afternoon I’ve felt incredible sick! Only seems to calm down if I’m eating or drinking. I now feel bloated and abit sore, I’m day 8 of stims now . Egg retrieval hopefully on Friday dependent on Monday’s scan. It’s all quite overwhelming, we’ve waited a year having to go through various tests and can’t believe it’s all so close now. Xx

Meganlouise1988 · 04/01/2020 15:12

@BaileyBadger4 just catching up. We’re NHS, we get one cycle in Leicester. First IVF! Although my partners azoospermia is down to a genetic issue so I’m hoping we may be able to apply for additional funding if we are unsuccessful this time round xx

Kellyprt1 · 04/01/2020 19:03

Another injection down. I find that the easiest part could be because both me and my husband work in hospitals so just used to it. I prefer to do them myself. I keep thinking oh I'm bloated something happening but then I remember could just be I just had dinner Confused ha.

@Meganlouise1988 my one cycle with NHS too. I just can't wait for scan to see if responding. Good luck to you

Meganlouise1988 · 04/01/2020 19:15

When is your scan? Sorry I know you have probably said already! Mines Monday, I’m so nervous but also excited! Good luck to you too! Xx

rainbow178 · 04/01/2020 19:26

I am on day 7 of buserelin and no sign of a bleed yet- any ideas when it should start!? 🙁

41trying · 04/01/2020 19:40

Evening all!
Day 5 of stums for me and next scan Monday to see if it's doing what it is supposed to be doing.
@rainbow178 AF didnt arrive until day 10, everyone is different.
Everyone on long protocol with DR and menopur stims still taking buserlin with there stims???

Kellyprt1 · 04/01/2020 19:40

@Meganlouise1988 10th so scared. Do you get a frozen cycle in leicester? My husband is from Leicester lives with me now in Staffordshire. He is at the football now LC fan... Had to sort all injections out myself tonight! . I'm sure he could not wait to go to get away from ivf talk Hmm we get just one fresh cycle.
I have Low amh though and on 450 gonal f. I wish I had not googled anything because all I keep reading is about cancelled cycle with low amh. I'm 27 so was a bit of a shock

Kellyprt1 · 04/01/2020 19:42

@rainbow178 mine was on the 15th day! I had to push scan back but it came :) don't worry

Nmvasey · 04/01/2020 20:11

@41trying yep I’m Still on buserelin but a reduce dose.. dropped from 0.5ml to 0.2ml. My other half acted as the stims mixologist tonight 😂 and it went better. Even though the needle is exactly the same as the one I use for buserelin, it stung quite a bit tonight - is that the same for anyone else?

@rainbow178 mine came on day 14 which would have been the time it was due anyway although I didn’t start down regulation directly after my previous period.

41trying · 04/01/2020 20:17

@Nmvasey, how strange, both of mine stung this evening too. I'm glad my mood has lifted though. All I can think is only tomorrow then Monday so I can have my scan.
When the scans are every other day it doesn't feel like a waiting game.

Nmvasey · 04/01/2020 20:21

I’ve just booked acupuncture for Monday, she said I’d have 2-3 sessions given timelines. Do you think it’s worth it or should I have been having it for much longer in the run up?

@41trying do you have to do 2 jabs? Or is one of those your buserelin? I do Buserelin in morning and stim on a night.

Meganlouise1988 · 04/01/2020 20:26

@rainbow178 mine came on day 10 I think!

@41trying yes I’m still on buserlin but have reduced the dose by half. Did you? They said we have a 10 minute window to do it each day so we do it at 7am, we overslept and did it at 8am today! Do you think it’ll matter?! I’ve been on it for an additional week due to Christmas. Been injecting for a month on Monday and can’t wait to finish.

@Kellyprt1 is he! We’ve just been too!!! That’s made me laugh, my poor partner has had to sit next to me for the past 2 hours still talking about it. It’s all I think about. Did you get on ok with doing them? Tbh I’m not actually sure, what’s the difference?? My partners sperm is frozen but they will fertilise my eggs (if we get some) straight away so does that count as frozen or fresh?!

What is your amh (don’t answer if you don’t want to). Did they say it was low? My consultant said mine was ok but I’ve read online it’s low for my age so I’m unsure really. I’m 31 and it’s 12. Good luck for 10th, hopefully my egg retrieval day so big day for us both!! Xx

41trying · 04/01/2020 20:33

@Nmvasey just one stim and one buserlin at 0.5 not reduced.
@Meganlouise1988 I take my stim and buserlin at around 730 each night. I asked about the same time for both and they said as long as I try keep it within half hour each night.
I think I will ask a few more questions on Monday as buserlin is supposed to make everything quite, which it did, then we take stims to make folicols grow, but still take buserlin.
When I did short protocol they stim first then few days in introduce cetrotide to stop ovulation.

Nmvasey · 04/01/2020 20:34

@meganlouise1988 you should be ok, my clinic said within the hour

BambiOnIce80 · 04/01/2020 20:37

@41trying I'm long protocol and am on gonal-f and still taking the buserelin 💉 Was reading about it today and I think it's to inhibit our natural LH from surging and making us ovulate when they don't want us to.

Sorry to hear you're feeling sick on the stims @Meganlouise1988 💐 I'm only on day 3 but certainly feeling a bit bloated and occasionally tender... very curious to see what's happening in there on Tuesday's scan! 🤓

I know it's super hard @Kellyprt1 , but try and step away from Google! I know someone with very low AMH who was only 30. From her fresh cycle she got 4 eggs, 3 fertilised, 1 excellent quality and 1 average transferred and she's just welcomed her DD into the world 😊 Remember that AMH doesn't reflect egg quality, just how we'll respond to the fertility drugs. Please try not to worry.x

Kellyprt1 · 04/01/2020 20:37

@Meganlouise1988 have you how funny. Yeah he is season ticket holder.. I'll go once a year when it's sunny ha. He phoned my half time to see if I got on alright with injections ha funny what we have to do.
It's 5. 2 :( so a lot less than yours but I have just got to hope for the best. 13 is good. Think that's why I am so worried about the scan but the good thing is they have said if they cancel it then my funded cycle still stands so they can alter the dose and try again. Think it counts as fresh and I think you will be fine with number of eggs.
