Hi all,

I can't see a thread for Dec/ Jan yet - maybe because a lot of clinics shut over the holidays - but mine doesn't! Anyone else out there starting in December and want to support each other? This will be my first round so I'm pretty nervous! X

@BambiOnIce80 just saw your comment about the your friend with low amh that's so reassuring thank you
It does only take one your are right :)

41trying · 04/01/2020 20:43

We all google so much
I was on another thread on previous cycle and there was a lady 45 and they gave her 1% chance and she is now 10 weeks, so I think we all have to keep positive

Minster2012 · 04/01/2020 20:45

@meganlouise, hi!!

I’m really intrigued by your 10 minute window for the buserlin... our clinic hasn’t said anything about a time frame for the injection but we are at the coming upto transfer stage, so I might phone them. When we did egg collection we didn’t do at a specific time, they just said “roughly the same time” so we just did each night at around the same time so I would worry. Ours was successful! The frozen bit refers to whether they are freezing your embryos before transferring back to you or not, not your OH’s sperm. Ours has been frozen for 3 years for some, 2.5years for others xx

Meganlouise1988 · 04/01/2020 20:50

@41trying @Nmvasey oh that’s good to know. I wonder why all clinics do it so differently. My buserelin has to be done before 9am and then my stims between 6-11pm!

@BambiOnIce80 I was unsure whether maybe I’d picked up a but it seems strange it’s coincided with me upping my dose plus Ive had it from when I wake up until around 5pm, for 3 days running so thinking must be hormonal! My bloating started around day 6 I think and I was under-responding before that so hopefully you’re responding well! Xx

BaileyBadger4 · 04/01/2020 20:56

Hi guys, that's weird, I wasn't given a specific time frame for the buserilin either 🤔 the nurse just said try to do roughly the same time each day, as long as it's in the morning. She didn't make a real point about that bit at all so I presumed it wasn't all that important! 😟 I've been doing them at 9:30 most mornings to be fair, but last weekend I slept in and did one or two at around 10:45am. Whoops! xx

Meganlouise1988 · 04/01/2020 20:58

@Kellyprt1 I panicked when I read it was low but like @BambiOnIce80 said, it doesn’t reflect quality and that’s the most important! On my first scan I had 12 follicles, then 22 on baseline so seems like it can fluctuate so much on a monthly basis too. Plus when I told my acupuncturist I had 22 follicles she said we don’t want 22 eggs, we want less as they’ll be better quality?! I have no idea if this is true or not.

@Minster2012 hello! How much buserelin have you been on? Maybe it was just to drill into us that it was important to be roughly the same time each day Confused usually I would panic and ring the clinic but I’ve rang that many times that I think they’re sick of hearing from me! Ok so does that mean this is a fresh cycle? Oh yay I love a success story, was your first one a fresh cycle? How old is your DD/DS? Good luck with this one! Xx

Kellyprt1 · 04/01/2020 21:05

@Meganlouise1988 didn't realise it could change so much I only had one follicle count.

I was told by my clinic take them within 2 hour time frame but they didn't mention taking them separete just I do bureslin and then on the other side gonal f

BambiOnIce80 · 04/01/2020 21:13

My clinic said the same @BaileyBadger4 about the times of taking the meds 👍 I specifically asked because I get up at 6am during the week and then am a very lazy cow at the weekend (rarely get up before 10am!😴) and the nurse said a 4 hour difference wouldn't matter at all 🤷‍♀️ Turns out I've managed to do them at about the same time anyway, but still good to know it shouldn't make any difference.

Thanks so much for sharing how it's been affecting you @Meganlouise1988 ❤️ I had started wondering whether it was a good or a bad sign on day 3 (we're all always worrying about something in this process, aren't we?! 😏).

Tell you all what's worrying me the most - not knowing exactly when EC is going to be 😣 Is anyone else the same? The time frames have been going faster than I thought they would (I've been projecting forward based on 'worst case' responses to drugs, so didn't think I'd be on stims already!). They've said it will likely be in 10 to 12 days time, which means potentially Saturday the 11th or Monday the 13th... and I've got an appointment at the hairdressers on the 11th and am supposed to be meeting a mate who doesn't know we're doing IVF afterwards and I'm already wondering if I should be preemptively cancelling them or if I'm just being plain mental?!?! 🤯

rainbow178 · 04/01/2020 21:17

I was told by the clinic that the buserelin should be taken at the same time give or take an hour.....I've been taking mine at 9.30 over Xmas but have been gradually bringing it earlier and earlier as back to work on Monday so it will have to be done at 7am!

for the stims, isn't a nightmare trying to work out what times best to take them, am I out at all over the next 2 weeks? When can I fit in my Injections? I feel like all I do is look at my calendar and make plans!!! Oooh egg collection might be then.....or then.....or.....I really need to stop looking too far ahead!!!

rainbow178 · 04/01/2020 21:19

@BambiOnIce80 haha, we have pretty much just written the same post at the same time! Worrying about times and planning dates!!

Meganlouise1988 · 04/01/2020 21:28

@Kellyprt1 me neither! But definitely reassured me...it doesn’t mean they’ll all have grown enough I guess but amazing what our bodies can do.
I’ve seen so many success stories with lower AMH, there’s so many different factors to take into account but it’s so difficult not to focus on one thing that’s worrying us! And at 27 your eggs should be good quality! I think my OH is panicking that LC will get into Europe next season (baby will be due early October if all goes to plan) and that he won’t be able to go haha. That’s good that the funded cycle will still stand!

@BambiOnIce80 definitely a good sign!! It means it’s definitely having some kind of effect I guess. I’m finding the bloating so uncomfortable 👎 it seems to come and go too, has anyone else found that?? It’s a difficult one, I think it’s important to try and keep as normal as possible (if possible!) but if the worrying of cancelling is causing you anxiety, maybe best to pre empt it? Can they give you a better idea at your next scan? Mine said provisional date for ER is 10th but they will confirm this at my scan on Monday depending on how big my follicles are. X

jcurve · 04/01/2020 21:28

@BambiOnIce80 I’m also worrying about egg collection timing. They’ve suggested trying for 2 days off work but I have quite a busy job and not knowing which days (estimated 15th Jan) is worrying me a bit.

Dia12 · 04/01/2020 21:44

Hi everyone, I'm also down regulating, on day 10 today and no sign of AF and feeling a tense about it all.
We are having ICSI abroad so will have to make travel plans soon but it's all up in the air until AF arrives 🤷🏻‍♀️

Kellyprt1 · 04/01/2020 21:48

Haha @Meganlouise1988 same my husband lol my husband said I will have to have it at the Royal infirmary so he can just pop over from the football Hmm haha. He is going Wednesday but luckily he is still in the clear until the week after where hopefully will be egg collection. Yes and my husband sperm was OK. I am healthy to be an extent don't smoke and eat healthy most of the time. I have been taking dhea and q10 so I have done everything I can.

FlapJackered · 04/01/2020 21:49

@Rovera12 I have started bloating tonight too, again not sure if it's the stims either as it seems quite early on day 2? I will be on cetrotide in a few days.

@Meganlouise1988 sorry to hear you're having bad side effects although good to know it is all working! Have you had any scans yet? I have my first one on Monday.

@BambiOnIce80 I am also a bit worried about when EC will be, my DH has some important meetings the week it is likely to be 😬.
I have tried to keep the week I think it will be free. It is tough though and my friends must think I am being really anti-social this month!

Meganlouise1988 · 04/01/2020 21:54

@Kellyprt1 I’ve just broken the news to mine that he might not be able to go on Wednesday if it’s my trigger shot! Is that selfish?!

@FlapJackered I went in on New Year’s Eve and thought they’d give me a scan as I was day 4 of stims but just a blood test! First scan is this Monday too, seems a little late?! What day will you be? I’ll be day 10! Have they given you a provisional ER date?

BambiOnIce80 · 04/01/2020 22:11

@rainbow178 @Meganlouise1988 @jcurve @FlapJackered thanks for getting it! 💖 The doc at my clinic was quite clear about taking 2 days off sick for egg collection (I'm going to take annual leave though - I've not had a sick day in 3 years!), so on the one hand it'd be really handy to be on the Saturday, but on the other it'd be a pain in the arse cancelling stuff! 🤦‍♀️ My hairdresser knows we're doing IVF and will be fine about it (she's struggling with TTC too - I just hate leaving her out of pocket on short notice!), but it's potentially having to bail on my friend that's worrying me... I hate lying but don't want to discuss the IVF either 😣 I've already made my excuses to not go out for a drink with them this week - I hope she won't be offended if I have to cancel Saturday too 😔 I should have taken a leaf out of your book @FlapJackered and gone for the antisocial approach this month! 😉

And all this Less-star chat is taking me right back to my uni days ladies! I went to DeMontfort and have very fond memories 😊

rainbow178 · 04/01/2020 22:15

@BambiOnIce80
I feel like it's all I do, calendar watch!
As for work, my work have a policy of 5 days paid for IVF appointments so my boss is fully aware of what we are going through (only him and my parents are- he should feel honoured!) and he has been amazing. I normally have the day off of egg collection and then a few hours the next day because they say not to drive for 24 hours and then have 2 full days off after embryo transfer- this is when I feel like resting the most. The day after egg collection I have always felt fine but after embryo transfer you feel like you just don't want to move and sit still all the time!! So if you are juggling/deciding what days to have off, I would save the most for embryo time!

Meganlouise1988 · 04/01/2020 22:19

@BambiOnIce80 did you!! Aw good old leicester. We’ve had a lot of luck the past few years (football wise), hopefully this is a good omen!!

2 days, so one for the op and then a day after to recover? My clinic have told me 2 weeks...I thought it seemed quite a long time...saying that, I’m a teacher with autistic students and I do run the risk of being attacked from time to time if a student goes into crisis so I was thinking maybe it was a good thing to be off the full time. I think just do whatever helps you to feel calm at the minute, maybe cancel and rearrange a different date so that you’ve got something to look forward to and not cancelling completely. Then again it’s always nice to to be around someone who doesn’t know what’s happening so maybe wait till your next scan and see what they say first? X

FlapJackered · 04/01/2020 22:27

@megan
@MeganLouise1988 the scan will be day 5, although I am on mild ivf so may be a bit different to yours. I am meant to have a scan on mon, weds and Friday next week then egg collection the next Monday I think, providing all goes to plan! They haven't given me a date yet though. Have you got a date yet?

@BambiOnIce80 it's a really tricky one, as i am sure my friends think something is up as I have said no to every invitation, I have just said I am really busy this January! 🤦🏼‍♀️
Hopefully you will have an idea of when it will be soon and only have to cancel if you have to. Have you got a scan booked? Maybe it will be clearer then?

Meganlouise1988 · 04/01/2020 22:30

@FlapJackered scan Monday and Wednesday for me too next week! Then ER Friday 😬 just a few days difference for us then! They said embryo transfer will be the following Monday or Wednesday. X

Minster2012 · 04/01/2020 22:35

Wow so much chat tonight!
@Meganlouise1988 to answer your questions & try & allay your fears...my AMH was 2.1 at age 33 previously when we did EC (we’ve done 2 lots of EC both immediately to freeze after creating embryos) as I have had years of chemo & we were told the whole way through not to expect it to work. We were freezing as we transferred to my best friend as a surrogate so I’ve never had the transfer but I’m carrying this time & ive had my mock embryo transfer.

Don’t worry about your AMH. 1st time we got 4 eggs, & 2 embryos. We transferred 1 to my friend 6 months later & now have a 17 month old son. 2nd lot of EC we got 5 eggs & 3 embryos.

I’m now 35 & this is my first time trying to carry.
For time off for EC & ET I found my EC first time awful & was in a lot of pain for days afterwards but they said 1 of my eggs was hidden & they had “to rummage!” Second time less so but I wanted to rest for 2 days.

ET my friend felt nothing & didn’t rest, we went shopping & cake afterwards, I’ve had my mock & felt nothing. Grin

BambiOnIce80 · 04/01/2020 22:37

That is massively helpful advice @rainbow178 , thank you so much! I work for the NHS, so I haven't had to pay any time back for my IVF appointments but the 2 days off for the EC would be a bit of a stretch of my bosses good will 😏 If it does fall on a weekday I was going to take half the day as an IVF appointment and the other half as leave, plus the day after. I've got enough leave left to take ET day off and then I was thinking of taking the OTD off... whether it's good news or bad news, I definitely don't want to be at work when I get it!

... Just reading this back I can see I'm totally over thinking this and should really be waiting to see what the scan looks like on Tuesday before planning on what days to take off and whether to cancel appointments/plans or not! 🤦‍♀️ I'll definitely be thinking about 2 days off for ET now though.x

One final question to you all before bed (and I appreciate that this one is definitely going to make me sound nuts! 🤪). Does anyone else worry about taking a hot bath after ET and whether it might have a detrimental effect on implantation or whatever?! 🛀 😬 I'm a bath girl (sooooo relaxing 😊), but my inner crazy is making me think I should take showers for this TWW just in case... why do I have this irrational hang up?!

Meganlouise1988 · 04/01/2020 22:52

@Minster2012 oh wow, sorry to hear you’ve had to have chemo but amazing that your first go resulted in your son!! Did they put you to sleep? My clinic do but I’ve read some don’t. So what do they do at a mock? Go through your cervix etc?

And yes @BambiOnIce80 I haven’t had a bath for weeks (I have showered 😝) but I worry about the effect of the heat...I imagine it’s irrational but I totally get what you mean. I’m also walking so gingerly everywhere, as if I’m heavily pregnant! Just incase I knock something, so ridiculous....

rainbow178 · 04/01/2020 23:02

@BambiOnIce80 glad it helped. Unfortunately I have been through this all before too many times but glad that this is making me helpful!!

My 'booklet' from my centre says defo avoid hot baths after implantation and for the TWW so I would stick to showers. They also say don't use anything perfumed (both partners) on egg collection day- I literally just wash in hot water this day!
