Hi all,

I can't see a thread for Dec/ Jan yet - maybe because a lot of clinics shut over the holidays - but mine doesn't! Anyone else out there starting in December and want to support each other? This will be my first round so I'm pretty nervous! X

Oh @BambiOnIce I meant it as a solution for the wet paper issue, but that' so nice! :)

Rovera12 · 03/01/2020 13:50

@BaileyBadger4 I am funded by nhs 3 cycles, It's our first ICSI cycle .
I started stims last night, I am on GONAL F 150iu. Its not as bad as I taught but I made sure I put ice on it for almost two hours.

LottSE20 · 03/01/2020 14:10

@Lily999 they didn’t say, but when I asked about FET before (in case we had any extra embryos) the nurse said we’d need to wait for a cycle in between (so not the next but the one after). But that was on the basis we had a fresh one that didn’t work, so hopefully sooner. I’m hoping the fluid goes away and I can crack on - next scan is Mon.

Rovera12 · 03/01/2020 14:10

@Lily999 thank you. Yes my lining was thin enough but did not ask what it measured. All I was told is 7 follicles on left,6 on the right no fluids so I could start stimulation last night. My next scan is Monday though I need to start my cetrotide on sunday night.

Rovera12 · 03/01/2020 14:15

@LottSE20 the waiting is what I dont like. I know it's for the best incase of OHSS. I really wish I dont have OHSS, If not transfer will be March.

BambiOnIce80 · 03/01/2020 14:57

Oooh, that is a really good idea @Lily999!! 💡🤦‍♀️ Thank you! 😄

Bestofyou1982 · 03/01/2020 15:35

Hi ladies, hope you don't mind me joining the group.
I've just started taking the HRT alongside thr buseralin. Due to have first embryo transfer in couple of weeks after a disappointing freeze all cycle due to OHSS.
Plus side, we have 13 frozen day 5 embryos as embryos body went nuts on the stimulation drugs. This is my first post although I must have read 100s of others on here over the last year or so of ivf madness and clomid cycles year before that.Feeling I should be getting hopeful as so close now to transfer but have kind of lost hope as it feels so long since we started trying and even nearly 2 years since we started fertility treatment and have yet to see a BFP.
Is it best to stay detached and just see what happens or should I be getting excited/hopeful as transfer is now nearly a reality.
Happy New Year to you all, hope this year is your year!

LottSE20 · 03/01/2020 15:56

@Bestofyou1982 welcome! Very exciting news about the transfer - do you mind me asking how it was between your cycle with OHSS and the transfer?
I know exactly how you feel about whether to get excited - I’m so used to nothing happening that I almost think it’s better for me to assume it won’t work so that I’m not disappointed. But it’s nice to feel positive about something actually happening (this is the best chance yet for that BFP!). And 13 embryos is incredible!!

LottSE20 · 03/01/2020 15:56

*long

BaileyBadger4 · 03/01/2020 16:02

Hi @Bestofyou1982 welcome! 👋😊 I feel very similar to you. I have almost detached myself from the process or am hesitant to be excited as I'm very scared of disappointment. I'd rather be realistic and be pleasantly surprised rather than build my hopes up and be devastated.

It has taken us around 3 years to reach this point. OH and I had fertility tests almost 3 years ago which showed severe MFI. My tests came back fine thankfully. I was then told I needed to go away and lose 3st before I would be eligible for nhs funding! That was a blow as I've been overweight all of my life and have always struggled so hard to lose it.

Well I did lose the 3st 🙌 but it took me 2 years to do so.. So over the last 2/3 years I have had plentyyyy of time to google google google research research research 🙄 it's actually caused me a lot of anxiety having so long to ponder over the process.

If I had gone into the clinic initially, being at the correct weight and was able to start the treatment as soon as we were diagnosed, I'm sure I would feel much more happy and excited about it! But as stands I'm pretty anxious about it all as I've had 2 years to get myself worked up over it 😂 I've managed to read about every single thing that can and might go wrong during a cycle 😫
Google is not my friend lol I've curbed all the researching and looking for answers now though as it was actually bringing me down considerably doing so.

We're here now. This is actually happening. All the hard work with the weight loss could potentially pay off in a major way! I need to be more positive! It is exciting but oh so bloody scary at same time lol xx

Kellyprt1 · 03/01/2020 17:06

@BaileyBadger4 Well done for loosing the weight though. That takes a lot of determination. I Google to much too.
@Rovera12 are you having short cycle as they didn't do afc on my scan to check my lining was thin?

Bestofyou1982 · 03/01/2020 17:26

@LottSE20 thanks for reply. Had egg collection start fo October. Had to wait for chemical cycle and then a natural cycle before could start process of frozen cycle. So from original egg collection to embyro transfer about 4 months.
I was so disappointed when told it would have to be a freeze all cycle. Still.am frustrated but suppose what is another a few months in the system that is a massive waiting game.

@BaileyBadger4 massive well done with the weight loss. Good luck with next part of your journey.

rainbow178 · 03/01/2020 17:47

@BaileyBadger4 I am in the north west and got 2 funded and am now on our second cycle which we have had to pay for. I also am not desperately trying to not get my hopes up after a LOT of heartache. Making plans for a summer holiday if it doesn't work again....I'm hoping reverse mentality might trick it into working!

@Nmvasey when I start stims I am on 6 powders!! I will be there all night!!! How are you finding them so far? I should be starting next week x

Nmvasey · 03/01/2020 18:26

@rainbow178 my first is tonight at around 8’o’clock. I will report back 😬🧪

Minster2012 · 03/01/2020 18:36

Hello to the new ladies! @rainbow178
& @Bestofyou1982 Smile

13 day 5 embryos that’s awesome @bestofyou82! When do you think your transfer will be so far??

So I had my lining scan today (with my toddler there, pretty awkward especially as they were running late) the receptionist made me lift him up to say hi so I did say “here’s one we made here earlier!” Which some of the waiting room heard! Anyway couldn’t be helped without raising suspicion today.

But good news my lining nice & thin so I’m starting my tablets for 2 weeks then on the buserelin for 10 days & next scan to check for fluffy lining 22nd & check transfer ok for following week & endure nursery plan in place for active heavy toddler & know what I’m doing with 2 active dogs Hmm

Celebrating with a Buck’s Fizz
Bring it on ladies!

Nmvasey · 03/01/2020 20:39

Well that didn’t go well, lost a little bit of the solution in the process 😬 angry with myself! Most of it went in which is the main thing I suppose. The syringe kept filling with air and creating a vacuum. Any tips welcome! I’m hoping we’ll be better tomorrow... I was the same with the buserelin at first but now it’s so easy so hoping for the same again.

Nmvasey · 03/01/2020 20:41

Good news re lining @Minster2012. Sounds like you’ve got your work cut out but will be well worth it I’m sure!

UnicornPuff · 03/01/2020 20:59

@Nmvasey inject the fluid into the bottle to dissolve the medication. Turn the bottle upside down so air at the top pull the needle out slightly so only the tip is in the bottle and then when you let go of the syringe plunger it should automatically fill with the medication.

Nmvasey · 03/01/2020 21:04

Ah thanks @unicornpuff! I think I was kind of trying to stop that from happening! Doh. Do you end up with a big gap which you have to push out just before injecting? that is where I lost some of the meds. Perhaps I didn’t do enough flicking to get all the solution to the bottom before releasing the air.

Sabz36 · 03/01/2020 21:12

Question ladies

What should my lining be. I'm seeing a lot of people post and on vlogs talk about lining thickness and I'm like 🤯

UnicornPuff · 03/01/2020 21:17

@nmvasey when you say a big gap do you mean air in the syringe?

Nmvasey · 03/01/2020 21:19

Yeah @unicornpuff perhaps 1-1.5cm

UnicornPuff · 03/01/2020 21:32

Yeah just hold the syringe up so air bubble is below the needle and gentle depress the plunger so that the air goes but you keep the drug.

Minster2012 · 03/01/2020 21:45

@Sabz36 it depends what part of the process you are at....my scan today was to check my downregukating had happened and my AF had been so that now the meds for the preparation for FET can commence. So they wanted to make sure my lining was thin & that my ovaries were “turned of”. It was 1.4 whatever that means but it’s good! Nice and thin. So the period worked and now the new meds build it up for FET. So he got scan is to check for the thickness is the right thickness for FET the week after.
All depends what stage you are at.

Rovera12 · 03/01/2020 21:53

@Kellyprt1 yes I am on short protocol with Barts health. I was asked to come in for a scan between day 1-3 of my cycle.
