Hi all,

I can't see a thread for Dec/ Jan yet - maybe because a lot of clinics shut over the holidays - but mine doesn't! Anyone else out there starting in December and want to support each other? This will be my first round so I'm pretty nervous! X

Thank you @Minster2012 ! I have complete fear of testing as I want so much for the hope to still remain alive. We have never ever had a positive pregnancy test so it all feels so traumatic. This will be our 5th transfer and now 3dp5dt and don't feel any different. Hoping my boobs will hurt or I'll have cramps or something! But nothing just emotional!

Hope you are well and had a great new year!xXx

Nmvasey · 01/01/2020 14:17

@Spshope got everything crossed for you 🤞🏻Some people don’t get symptoms, Try stay positive!

PineappleC · 01/01/2020 14:35

Hi all,

Hope it's okay to join you this late! I'm starting long protocol from my next cd3 (probably around 10 Jan). Excited to get started now! Ours is MFI so we will probably be doing ICSI too. It's been really useful to read all your comments on this thread so at least I have a slight picturevof what's in store 😊

Kellyprt1 · 01/01/2020 14:52

@spshope good luck.. Fingers crossed for you.
Such complicated thing pregnancy with so many different reasons why we all need ivf. It's a miracle anyone gets pregnant really isn't it. My problem is I came off pill about 14 months ago. Have not ovulated once.. I thought that was the only issue so they tried clomid nothing... Then amh test low. Its so confusing because my Amh is low but its not low enough to not ovulate. This time of year is so hard as everyone seems to be announcing pregnancy. I start my stims tonight.
@pineappleC hey I joined late. We all need support through this :-) didn't realise they start from cd3 mine was cd21 on cycle before. So nerve wracking isn't it. Will you down regulate from the cd3?

Minster2012 · 01/01/2020 15:10

@Spshope if it’s any consolation my best friend when she got our BFP for our boy swears she felt absolutely no different so there is very much hope with no symptoms and you are still early too 🤞🏻🤞🏻Everything crossed for you. We waited the full TWW to test so we could all be together. I’m hoping now it’s going to be us that we can do the same

Nmvasey · 01/01/2020 16:03

Arghhhh I called the docs weeks ago and checked when I had my last smear and it was early-mid 2017 (If I remember correctly) so all ok. Just opening my mail and I’ve been invited for a test which must mean I’m due. What do you think I should do? Could I even have a smear whilst mid IVF?

BaileyBadger4 · 01/01/2020 17:10

@Nmvasey I've recently had a smear reminder in the post too! I'm in the process of swapping GP surgeries so that I'm registered at the same practice as my OH. Will be up n registered at the new practice next week and was planning to book my smear test then. Did wonder whether I still needed to have it done though considering I have EC due this month 🤞 thought enough people would be taking a look down there over the coming weeks 😂 is another appointment really necessary?? 🥴 lol xx

BambiOnIce80 · 01/01/2020 17:11

I'm guessing your clinic checked you had a valid smear test before you started @Nmvasey , so I doubt it'll make any difference to them at this stage. Maybe leave making the appointment until after the IVF cycle is over and/or ask the clinic what they think? I don't think you can have a smear test whilst you are pregnant, but the smear test should also be done around about CD14 (of a 28 day cycle) so you probably couldn't have one done at the moment any way. That said, did you say you're in the North East? I think they might be changing the way they test the sample down there already (it's a national thing but I think that area is an early implementer) so the cycle day may not matter anymore 🤔 Definitely worth asking the docs and putting your mind at ease 👍

Thanks for the nosecco recommendation @Minster2012! 🍾🥂 I'll give it a look 😎

I completely understand the fear of POAS @Spshope 😔 Too many years of nothing but BFN's staring back at me - I literally can't face anymore! My clinic does the blood test for the OTD, so I'm only going to POAS if it's good news (just to try and burry the hatchet with the BFN's!). How long until your OTD?

Welcome @PineappleC 👋 Always happy to help, so just shout out if you need anything 😉

Today is dragging ladies! 😩 I can't decide whether it's because my scan is tomorrow and I just want it to hurry up and get here so I know what's happening (AF is light, but still here so I guess my lining might not be thin enough to start stims yet 🙄) or if I'm starting to get some side effects from the buserelin 🤔 I cried watching ER just now for no good reason at all 🤦‍♀️ Roll on tomorrow! 🤞🏻🔮

Minster2012 · 01/01/2020 18:06

@bambiOnIce80 our clinic don’t do the blood test we just POAS to test though they won’t accept you calling with a BFP until OTD! They then do the confirmation scan, they said too many ppl didn’t want to travel to just do the blood test which I can agree with! But I can see the other side of wanting something more “official” too as well as avoiding BFNs on sticks. We’ve been trying ever since I stopped my chemo & because my period took months to come back I just POAS randomly!! 😂😂

You know your scans you guys are talking about, like yours tomorrow, is this before EC or in the middle to then check lining? Because my EC was years ago I’m kinda out of touch with it but I had my AF & have scan on Friday then will hopefully be starting my estridol (sp) but will have another scan to check lining is right for actual FET in couple of weeks

BambiOnIce80 · 01/01/2020 18:31

It's crazy how differently clinics do things, isn't it @Minster2012?! My clinic say they insist on the blood test because I think too many people were getting false BFP's, so they want to make sure that the hCG is over 50IU (and it's not a CP).

The scan tomorrow is to check how DR is going and if I'm ready to start stims or not. Then there'll be more to to monitor how things are going and figure out when EC can happen 🔮 Good luck with your scan on Friday 🍀

Minster2012 · 01/01/2020 18:41

Yeah I’ve always thought so many different protocols everywhere!

Good luck for you tomorrow then! I’m so glad for the being we have that out the way for the moment. Are you doing a fresh transfer?

Kellyprt1 · 01/01/2020 19:01

Just did my first stim injection
Easy enough. I'm on 450 seemed like a lot when turning the pen to the dose

BambiOnIce80 · 01/01/2020 20:31

We are indeed doing our first and only fresh cycle @Minster2012- I'm bricking it that it'll totally fail for some reason and we won't get any fertilised at all 😔 I'm trying not to think too far ahead though and just get to each little step and see what happens... starting with tomorrow! 🔮Must be nice to be past all this bit and very exciting that you're leading up to your FET! 🤩 Ideally that's where we'd like to be - a couple of frosties to have a go with (better success rates and what not 🤞🏻).

Well done on getting your first stims jab out of the way @Kellyprt1! 💉 😉 Did it sting?

Spshope · 01/01/2020 20:46

Thank you @Kellyprt1 @Minster2012 @Nmvasey @BambiOnIce80

Thank you - so hard to be positive. My official test day is Wednesday by bloods then waiting for a phone call - I have taken the day off work in preparation for a waterfall of tears!
If by miracle it is a positive I will be poas as much as possible like you said to get rid of the fear! @BambiOnIce80

@Kellyprt1 - that is so annoying, have they said what could be the reason?

I feel like we have done every test under the sun apart from the HSG and laparoscopy - no one is recommending it which is weird given after so many fails we are none the wiser!

Spshope · 01/01/2020 20:47

Sorry I don't know how that bold typing out came about!

Minster2012 · 01/01/2020 20:55

I’ve just been reading our info to get my head around it all again!
Don’t think negatively @bambiOnIce80 my friends brother have a gorgeous baby born in December from their round of IVF fresh transfer she’s beautiful

Kellyprt1 · 01/01/2020 21:27

@BambiOnIce80 no easier than bureslin I would say. Just has a strong chemical smell that the worst.

Now the wait to see if they grow.. Or the dreaded cancelled cycle.

Can I ask what supplements you are all taking if any? :)

Minster2012 · 01/01/2020 21:52

Only folic acid here, eat sensibly, still drinking both alcohol & coffee but trying to cut down on coffee Grin & drink lots of water

notReginaPhalange · 02/01/2020 09:04

Ok, my period started today and I had my first injection at 7 am... We hoped it would work naturally last month but it looks like the universe has a plan B for us... Who else is starting a long protocol this week?

BambiOnIce80 · 02/01/2020 09:14

You're right @Minster2012 - anything's possible 🤞🏻 Think I'm just trying to safeguard my sanity by trying to prepare for the worse and hope for the best 😬 Folic acid is certainly the only thing my clinic recommends too 💊 👍

@Kellyprt1 I'm also taking vit D, coenzyme Q10 and omega 3 (recommended by my acupuncturist for egg quality ages ago), but whether they do any good is anyones guess 🤷‍♀️

So. I had my DR scan and my lining is 1.5mm! 🥳🎉🥳 🎉 They gave me my gonal-F jab there and then, so that's me on stims! 😁 Next scan is on Tuesday to see how things are going 👍 Are you using the pen thingy @Kellyprt1 ? That thing was super easy! Didn't hurt or sting (but maybe that's because I was so surprised that I was beginning stims my brain wasn't paying it any attention! 😂). Egg collection will likely be in 10-12 days 🥚

notReginaPhalange · 02/01/2020 09:16

@BambiOnIce80 do you think frozen embryos have a higher success rate? Or have I misread it? Chances are we will go for frozen with no fresh transfers and it freaks me out thinking it might be not as effective. From what we googled, chances are the same though.

BambiOnIce80 · 02/01/2020 09:23

@notReginaPhalange the stats for my age group (38-40) have much better success rates by FET than fresh cycles, which is why I'm kind of lowering my expectations of this fresh cycle being successful and hoping for some frosties 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻 I certainly wouldn't worry about chances being less with your frosties 😊

notReginaPhalange · 02/01/2020 09:37

@BambiOnIce80 ah I see. Well, I'm 35 so it looks like FET is a better call anyway then :) Good luck with your stims! I hope this time will fly by for you.

jcurve · 02/01/2020 09:52

Hi, can I join? I booked my Day 2 scan for tomorrow as I came on last night. We are having our first round of ICSI due to mild issues on both sides (endo and low morphology).

A really stupid question for anyone that knows: will the day 2 scan be internal?

Minster2012 · 02/01/2020 10:10

I’m of that approach but my OH is the opposite & I start to think it’s better to be nice & positive than always looking on the bad side as I was starting to feel down as a result!

Great news on your scan that’s fab!! Next part starting! Here’s to lots of lovely eggs! Our clinic says there’s negligee difference in success between fresh & FET if it were me I’d try a fresh as “in the zone” then go FET but each circumstances different
