Hi all,

I can't see a thread for Dec/ Jan yet - maybe because a lot of clinics shut over the holidays - but mine doesn't! Anyone else out there starting in December and want to support each other? This will be my first round so I'm pretty nervous! X

That's good news @41trying ! I don't have down reg so not sure what they are going to do if my lining is not thin enough. I just bloody hope they won't postpone it by a month.

MissHoney85 · 30/12/2019 12:29

@41trying we are on the same schedule! Good luck 🤞🤞🤞

41trying · 30/12/2019 12:38

@lily999 I have no idea if it has to be thin if not DR, I am sure you will be fine.
@MissHoney85 good good, I think it still feels like so long away as I have been DR since 8th Dec

LottSE20 · 30/12/2019 13:25

@Lily999 that’s sucks - sometimes it just feels like you are being tested at every step. Hopefully you can start in 2 weeks - positive vibes!

I just had another scan and thankfully my cyst has reduced so going ahead with stimms tomorrow. Feeling v relived as was so stressed before the scan. DH says I need to try to find a way to be less anxious about every small set back as there will likely be more. MUCH easier said than done..

Lily999 · 30/12/2019 13:58

Thanks @LottSE20 mine is the same he keeps saying how bad stress is and that I should try and think about something else, but I don't think it is an option! He says he hates seeing me like this and wishes I could be more myself, but it is not easy when girl can't drink is it?? :)
When did they find the cyst and what size was it?

Minster2012 · 30/12/2019 14:25

We have only told my best friend & her hubby (the one who carried for us before so they knew we wanted another) and a lady I became good mates with on my previous Mumsnet IVF thread that’s it, too much stress and we don’t want the questions so no only two ppl really, we saw my best mate & her family yesterday & it was bizarre actually talking about it!!

LottSE20 · 30/12/2019 14:57

@Lily999 they found it at the baseline scan on Friday. She said it was probably just a blood cyst that you can get after you ovulate, but if it doesn’t reduce they don’t go ahead as it can end up absorbing the stimulation drugs and reduce effectiveness. I worried about it all weekend but all good now. And yes, not drinking doesn’t help with the stress (though I caved into some fizz at a wedding on sat).

I think I’ve told too many people and now dreading them asking if it doesn’t go well...

Spshope · 30/12/2019 15:06

Had my transfer yesterday (my 5th one so far) anyone else cycling at the same time?x

Minster2012 · 30/12/2019 15:49

@LottSE20 that’s what we didn’t want, ppl asking us! My MIL is terrible & assumes that ALL IVF means a baby automatically happens. Er no.

@spshope fingers crossed for you! How long have you waited to test before?

Sabz36 · 30/12/2019 16:25

I've told my 3 siblings and step mum. They have all volunteered to attend appointments with me which is great. Decided not to tell the wider network until things progress and hopefully are obvious to others.

I guess it may be weird for me as there is no other half so there will be questions as to who is the father

41trying · 30/12/2019 16:55

@Lily999 if your not DR! What protocol are you doing?

Lily999 · 30/12/2019 17:25

@41trying the short protocol. It takes about 2-3weeks to complete then the 2ww so altogether it's pretty much a normal cycle.

41trying · 30/12/2019 17:49

@Lily999, so I think they just check lining before EC that it is thick enough.

Kellyprt1 · 30/12/2019 18:18

@BambiOnIce80 thank you. I hope yours goes OK too. Do you know if they will check Afc tomorrow too at DR scan :) good luck all

Minster2012 · 30/12/2019 18:21

@Sabz36 that’s really great they’ve volunteered to go with you, sometimes the volume of info can be a bit overwhelming in any kind of appointment!
In terms of answering questions if it does go well have you thought how you might answer? Having had experience of an unusual conception (our LO was IVF to my best friend who carried him as our surrogate) I know very well that ppl aren’t afraid to ask VERY personal questions the most obvious for us being “who’s child is he?” And “oh my god did your husband sleep with your best mate?!” So it’s good to know what you want to say. A few times I played it out funnily “yes he’s mine, and no I wasn’t pregnant” & just walked straight on to a stunned silence so you could be like “god what a personal question, and are you still ovulating?” GrinHmm

Sabz36 · 30/12/2019 18:27

@Minster2012 hmmm I was thinking of just saying yes I'm single and no I don't know the father...it's not a lie lol. Close family I will tell them that it was IVF but outside of that...not really.

I did a counselling session (part of the agreement) so was gonna be using books with him her or them (fingers crossed for the latter). My sisters are amazing them bought me a IVF journal it literally has everything that you can note down from medication, trigger shot, egg collection and ideas for a IVF care package for after transfer.

Does anyone have any ideas I have fluffy socks and calming tea. I would add a G&T but that's off the cards for 2020

Nmvasey · 30/12/2019 18:36

My friend who has also Bren through IVF recommended that during stim you should keep your feet and stomach warm (advice from acupuncturist) . I’ve also heard that you should eat pineapple after implantation. Is anyone else trying anything weird and wonderful? I’m not sure how effective this is - worth a shot!

Minster2012 · 30/12/2019 18:41

Ha yes that’s perfect @Sabz36 yes you are single an no their father isn’t in their life it’s perfectly true as you say!

Gosh isn’t it weird the different approaches, my best mate & I met up yesterday & I said about not giving up alcohol until after the transfer which was the approach we took before too & both of us said “I’m pretty sure our clinic suggested having a calming glass of wine or g&t for us both the night before transfer didn’t they??!” And we all did so I’m going to take that approach! Why not the g&t for one time! I take the approach most ppl drink until pregnant so I’m doing that moderately (hard with Xmas & new year!)
Our clinic just say take carry on as normal without doing big exercise, twisting or anything too strenuous. Tell that to my two active dogs and active 18 month old Grin

I’m going to see how my scans go and reassess his nursery days as usually he’s only in nursery for one day! He does toddler gymnastics on another!!

Sabz36 · 30/12/2019 18:45

@Nmvasey I've been on literally every YouTube vlog and people recommend some weird and wonderful things. I'm doing Maca powder in my morning shake with pineapple core and goji berries (alongside things that taste nice)

I was thinking of doing a fertility acupuncture. But it's so expensive wondering what the difference is with the regular one. I bought a food warmer.

Sabz36 · 30/12/2019 18:46

@Minster2012 yesssss I got bought a G&T collection that I feared I couldn't have until 2021. I think after the consultation I'll try it.

Nmvasey · 30/12/2019 18:49

@sabz36 That sounds so healthy! My Christmas diet has consisted of the 3 c’s.... chocolate, crisps and cheese 😬 I’ve just done an online healthy food shop to get me through the week! Also must drink more water.

I’ve enquired about acupuncture. A lot recommend starting 3 months beforehand but I’m too late for that. Have asked if I can just have treatment in and around egg collection and implantation.... waiting to hear back

rainbow178 · 30/12/2019 18:57

@Nmvasey I have had 2 Acupunture sessions and just started DR drugs- I think it is still worth a shot. I have had Acupunture at the treatment centre just before and after implantation in the past, unfortunately both times we weren't successful but I found it relaxing and focussing.

Minster2012 · 30/12/2019 18:57

@nmvasey I’m with you! But I think it depends on your journey & approach. My body has never been “allowed to try being pregnant” so may be ok. I’m not punishing myself yet by not allowing myself the things I enjoy, I eat healthily & not overweight so we are going to see before drastically changing things. We have one miracle child so we think any other baby is kinda a bonus for us

Nmvasey · 31/12/2019 10:16

My scan went well this morning, starting stims on Friday. Could have been tomorrow but I’m in the 2nd group - must be patient! 😬

Nmvasey · 31/12/2019 10:28

How’s everyone else doing?
