Hi all,

I can't see a thread for Dec/ Jan yet - maybe because a lot of clinics shut over the holidays - but mine doesn't! Anyone else out there starting in December and want to support each other? This will be my first round so I'm pretty nervous! X

@Lily999 yeah that's what I thought.

Chooklass · 20/12/2019 15:09

Thanks for the well wishes - procedure went well. They said my cervix is just really narrow on inside but they stretched it a bit and catheter goes in fine now. But I was warned egg transfer may always be tricky and this might need done again. I don't remember a thing - still feel quite drowsy but am home 😊. Next appt on 9th to start stims. Xx

That's great news @Chooklass, as long as the catheter can go in you should be fine.
So exciting to be so close to starting finally after all that wait in a few weeks time we'll get there. I'm actually grateful these weeks include Christmas as time flies by because we're all busy. :) of course not drinking is not the best, but certainly can be a good practice run for pregnancy :)

BambiOnIce80 · 20/12/2019 18:06

Thanks @Lily999 😊 My BFF is of the opinion that I'm being mental and we'll be going whether I'm pregnant or not, so win:win in her eyes 😄 I think we might book it soon 🙂

So glad your procedure went well @Chooklass! Hope you're not too sore 💐

Hi all

I’m new to this thread and about to start my first round in about a week at King’s. Drugs arrive tomorrow and I just had all my instructions today. Feeling v apprehensive! I have no idea if I’m on short or long protocol - how do you know? My AMH is 11.5 which feels low compared to others (I’m 34).

Any tips or advice welcome about how best to prepare x

BaileyBadger4 · 20/12/2019 23:08

Hi guys 👋 just had a good ol' catch up on everyone's progress. I start the buserilin down reg injections in 4 days time 😬 Whilst I was at my injection training the hospital gave me some links to videos on how to mix up, draw and administer the injections. Good job as I've forgotten a lot of what they told me! (Had the training a couple of weeks ago now and my memories really not the best) 🙈😂 xx

Sabz36 · 21/12/2019 08:04

@LottSE20 I'm also with Kings but I won't be starting until 2nd. That's when I get all the drugs and then I can start on my first period after that

LottSE20 · 21/12/2019 08:17

@BaileyBadger4 I know! I sat and listened to it all but I’m not sure anything went in. Luckily my DH was there so I’m relying on him. They also told me there were some videos online if needed.

@Sabz36 that’s great, so just a few weeks behind me. I’ve been really impressed with them so far since my referral (but then my experience with my GP/Consultant before that has been rubbish - 3 years TTC and made to feel like I’m wasting their time!)

Wishing you all lots of luck x

Sabz36 · 21/12/2019 09:48

@LottSE20 I know my GP kept on telling me how young I was 😶 not sure how that equates to anything. Kings have been amazing emailing and calling appropriately and allowing me to ask 101 questions even if they are the same question.

jcurve · 21/12/2019 10:22

@LottSE20 mine is 7 at 37 and our fertility consultant wasn’t bothered, said it was totally fine - actually told me I had time on my side and sent us away to try naturally after a laparoscopy.

We are going back for IVF and will have our baseline scan on the 2nd Jan. I paid for our drugs (Menopur) over the phone yesterday and will pick them up next week. I’m seriously needle phobic so not really looking forward to that aspect!

Mrbay · 22/12/2019 08:58

@Lily999 - I start again on Saturday.
Regarding alcohol, my clinic wasn't concerned just had to stop once the transfer was completed.

41trying · 23/12/2019 16:38

Hey all, how is everyone that has started DR meds getting on?
I have my scan and bloods in the morning, so hopefully start meds for EC 3rd Jan

UnicornPuff · 23/12/2019 17:39

@41trying I have been on DR for a week and might be slightly more snappy than normal but there is also preparing for Christmas stress so could be normal life! How have you found it?
Due to have my scan on the 3rd to fingers crossed start stims on the 4th. It's crazy how every clinic does things so differently! Although mine is closed over christmas so maybe if it was open it would be similar!

BambiOnIce80 · 23/12/2019 17:53

3 more pills to go for me @41trying, then buserelin up until my DR scan on the 2nd 👍 Should then find out if I'm good to start stims or whether I need longer on the buserelin 💉 Fingers crossed for you that you're good to go tomorrow 🤞🏻🍀

You're absolutely right @UnicornPuff - the differences between clinics is mind boggling! 🤯 Sounds like you and I might be on a similar time line 🙂

41trying · 23/12/2019 17:54

@UnicornPuff , 15 days today on Buserlin, I have been better over the last few days. AF was 4 days late and never had one like it in 30 years, so heavy. But thankfully only a few days. My clinic only close for EC over xmas, so it worked out all good really.

Minster2012 · 23/12/2019 20:46

Hi! Can I join here please? I’ve put a message on one of the other boards for a later date but no response....& reading here this maybe better instead. Got provisional dare for FET as end of jan

I’m a strange 1 for you! Have a DS, 17 months who was an IVF baby FET carried by my best friend as a surrogate for us transferred in secret from our families at the time as we thought it wouldn’t work 2 years ago & we announced on Xmas day she was 9 weeks pregnant with our boy! I had been receiving chemo for 4 years & OH &I have never been able to TTC (well we have this year since may to starting this IVF in nov but as we figured no joy) now after 5 years my chemo stopped & ive been given the go ahead to do IVFfor me to try to carry. Once again we are doing in secret we have Frosties from before. So I’ve done down reg& had this weird injection in my tummy last week which was awful as they put it near bad scarring I have...only just stopped hurting & itching like crazy. Had a bleed which was next step, we’ll, having.
Waiting for scan now on 3rd jan! I’m going a bit crazy Cos I don’t think my body knows what to do, and I’m scared it in general doesn’t.
Sorry for the long post!!

Nmvasey · 23/12/2019 21:12

How long have you all been on buserelin for? I’ll have been on it 22 days when I go for scan on 31st. Is that a long time in comparison? Two weeks has flown over already, hoping the next few are the same.

I have 15 people for Christmas lunch and my partner was sat tonight watching the darts when there’s 101 jobs to do ! Oh the rage.... I blame the hormones 😬🤣

@minster2012 quite the journey you’ve been on and what an amazing friend you have to do that for you! Our bodies are amazing things, I bet it knows exactly what to do.

Minster2012 · 23/12/2019 21:25

@nmvasey thank you yes, she’s amazing, and her family, 2 kids & hubby all supporting her, all at the home birth! Amazing

Is buselin the injections for stimming or for the FET? This tummy injection is instead of the hormone patches my friend had last time to put into temporary state of menopause...is anyone having this not patches? Our egg collection (we did 2 lots as got low numbers & I was ill) was 2016 & 2017 such a blur.

But there is Hope ladies as for our first go we had only 2 embryos, thawed one, used one & have 1 son! But that was yeah with my friend who got pregnant herself very easily I never have & have had chemo since 2011 so I’m pretty worried my body is too faulty.

Anyone else similar timing? Transfer end of Jan?

Nmvasey · 23/12/2019 21:30

Buserelin is the down regulation drug which puts you into a state of menopause, injected into your tummy.

Fingers crossed you have the same luck with your second embryo! 🙏

Minster2012 · 23/12/2019 21:55

Ah I see, so I’ve got this tummy implant instead of the buserelin then, they injected this implant into my tummy last Thursday that slow releases the hormones instead

Nmvasey · 23/12/2019 22:06

That’s sounds good! Suppose it saves you from having to inject daily. So many different protocols

BambiOnIce80 · 23/12/2019 22:13

Oh wow @Nmvasey - 15 people for Christmas Dinner!! 😦 You are a legend!!🏆 I'm freaking out about just the 2 of us and DP's BFF joining us! 😂 That 22 days feels like it's gone quickly (for me, anyway! 😄). My DR scan is 2 days after yours and I'll have been on the buserelin for 7 days at that point, but my clinic prefer the pill approach for the first 2 weeks to cut down on injection stress. I suspect I'll need longer on the buserelin as a result, but the nurse said to be prepared to begin the stims jabs if the scan goes well, so I guess I'll just have to wait and see... I still can't wrap my head around how much variation there is between the way different clinics do things! 🤷‍♀️

Welcome @Minster2012 👋 Sounds like you've had a tough journey of it so far (and an amazing best friend ❤️). I'm not sure when I'd be due ET yet, but will hopefully have a better idea of time lines on the 2nd 🤞🏻

Chooklass · 24/12/2019 07:59

Welcome @Nmvasey ! My ET will be towards the end of Jan too. I'm starting stims on 9th and am on contraceptive pill just now instead of buserelin.

We were told very sternly to use condoms from now ... which feels totally ridiculous after 3 years of infertility AND being back on the pill 🤷‍♀️. I guess stranger things have happened! 😂

Chooklass · 24/12/2019 08:00

Sorry I meant that for @Minster2012! But hi @Nmvasey too!

41trying · 24/12/2019 09:41

Morning all. Been for my scan and lining was 5.8 so cant start stimming meds yet, got to go back on 30th for another scan, little disappointed as egg collection will now be we
ek later too, but I suppose we cant do anything about our bodies.
