October ICSI/IVF

Hi all,

I have never written a post on here but thought it may be nice to get a thread going for anyone about to start ICSI/IVF. I am 28 and have been ttc for almost a year and have recently found out my husband has a very low sperm count (2 million) and ICSI is our only option. I was sure for so long something must be wrong with me so to find out it was him was a complete shock and I think we are both still adjusting. Fortunately we are able to go private and have my appointment to get the ball rolling on Wednesday. I have had a (all clear) and all of the bloods already so hoping we can get cracking next month so I am eager to get started. Everything is apparently fine with me apart from very mild pcos which I have been told shouldn’t effect my chances! I am still very anxious about the whole situation and just praying that the process will be successful.

If anyone has any tips or is in the same boat feel free to join!

I'm so sorry to hear that @Naughtyboob it really is the most unfair process! Just think though you have 9 beautiful embryos and can try again. Nearly all my friends that did ivf were second time- I think sometimes the body just isn't used to expecting the embryo and can reject it but the next time will be ready. Just try and enjoy your Christmas and you can gear yourself up for another go next year. You have done absolutely all you can and we are all here for you if you need us! Xxx

Thanks @NS05 I knew it was asking a lot to work first time, think I put too much hope into this one. Will try again in the new year. I know I'm very lucky to still have 9 more embryos. Feel a bit lost today, I'm sure I will be ok in a day or 2 xx

So sorry to hear that @naughtyboob 😥 this is such a tough and cruel process sometimes.

Im sure it wont be much solice right now but those frosties are there ready to go and hopefully there will be a little sucess story in there waiting for you. Like @NS05 says try and enjoy your xmas and when you're ready you can try again, at least with your frosties you can try again without having to go through the worst bit again(imo)!

Hope you can give yourself some time to rest up this weekend, some TLC is definitly required. Chin up, your jouney is just taking a brief pit stop xxx

Thanks ladies. Feeling a bit better today. Feeling really crampy like af is coming. Apparently this will be a heavy one due to all hormone tablets to make lining really thick. Great lol x

@notReginaPhalange thank You, yes it was our first attempt, and it was my first embryo out of 10 frozen 5 day blasts so I still have hope that one will take.
@siananigans Thanks, the clinic is supposed to be calling me for results this afternoon so will hopefully find out next steps.
I did another test this morning just in case, still negative but at least I know for sure xx

Really scared, been bleeding since last night. Rang the EPAU and they booked me in for a scan on Thursday morning. After that I started bleeding more fresh blood so hoping I can be seen today by someone. Ringing them back soon. Worried this is it

Oh gosh @LucyLucyT I'm so sorry to hear that. I really would try and get in today even if you have to pay privately to get a scan to get your mind at ease. If they aren't accompanied by any cramps perhaps the bleed could be from something else? My friend has a synchronic hematoma and has bled quite a lot in her first trimester. Seeing a heartbeat at 8 weeks is such a good sign so just try and hold on to that and stay calm if you can until you can get some answers!

Thanks @NS05 they said they could examine me today but no scans available. I've booked a private one for this afternoon. The bleeding seems to have stopped again at the moment but feel like I'm going to get more.

Hi all, feeling relieved as scan was good, baby is still doing everything and growing at the right speed with a good heartbeat. She couldn't see why I've been bleeding though. Annoyingly I've had more dark red blood since getting home so not quite sure why. Hopefully all will be okay. Still going for my hospital appointment and scan tomorrow so will see what they say.

Amazing news! I do know quite a few people who have had bleeds and sometimes weirdly there is no explanation for it! So happy for you!

@LucyLucyT what a relief! Hopefully you get some answers to the bleeding tomorrow. At least for now you know baba is all good ☺ xxx

Thanks everyone, we got to hear the heartbeat this time which was lovely. Bleeding has settled again now, hope to get some answers tomorrow but I know often they don't know why it happens!

@LucyLucyT Gosh, what a scare! Glad to hear things appear to be ok though, I'm sure tomorrow will confirm the same.

I had a call from my midwife this afternoon, by iron levels were low on my blood tests I had done with the scan so I've to go in tomorrow for another blood test. Really feeling they should have installed a tap at the beginning of this process!

Thanks @siananigans annoying about your iron levels, maybe you'll have to take some supplements. I'm hard to bleed so will be fun if they want to take bloods tomorrow!
