Hi all,

I have never written a post on here but thought it may be nice to get a thread going for anyone about to start ICSI/IVF. I am 28 and have been ttc for almost a year and have recently found out my husband has a very low sperm count (2 million) and ICSI is our only option. I was sure for so long something must be wrong with me so to find out it was him was a complete shock and I think we are both still adjusting. Fortunately we are able to go private and have my appointment to get the ball rolling on Wednesday. I have had a (all clear) and all of the bloods already so hoping we can get cracking next month so I am eager to get started. Everything is apparently fine with me apart from very mild pcos which I have been told shouldn’t effect my chances! I am still very anxious about the whole situation and just praying that the process will be successful.

If anyone has any tips or is in the same boat feel free to join!

Great news @Naughtyboob! Take care of yourself, hoping its a speedy 2ww for you ☺

Naughtyboob · 04/12/2019 11:52

How soon after transfer did you guys get any cramps/bleeding? I've not felt anything yet but just wondering how long it usually takes if anything at All?

PotatoJam · 04/12/2019 12:51

@Naughtyboob i had cramping through the whole 2ww but i think it was initially due to my EC which i had 5 days before my transfer so i never really differentiated between cramping from that and pregnancy cramping. I started bleeding at 7days post transfer and seriously thought it was AF (albeit light) so was pretty suprised to get the BFP! Other symptoms-wise i got really sore boobs about 11 or 12 days post transfer and about the same time started peeing loads! Have you got any plans to keep you occupied until the 14th? Got everything crossed that wee embryo holds in there! Xxx

Naughtyboob · 04/12/2019 12:58

@potatojam I'm off work till Tuesday, having a pajama day today, shopping with mum tomorrow and meeting up with friends at the weekend, then I suppose work will keep me occupied next week! I had cramps after EC but it's been nearly 2 months since then!! I read implantation occurs in the first day or 2 so I'm waiting for some sign Lol, I know it's daft not even been 24 hours! I'm eating pineapple hoping that has some truth to it! Glad you said 7 days as I was expecting something straight away, will try to relax a bit, I thought I'd be ok with the 2ww but I'm driving myself crazy!!

PotatoJam · 04/12/2019 13:29

@naughtyboob Thats sounds like a good few days. Hope things go quickly for you! I think i found the first few days of the 2ww the worst. I was analysing every little thing my body was doing and was expecting things to happen straight away too! I ate heaps of pineapple, blueberries, avocado...McDonalds fries 🤣🤣 im a sucker for an old wives tale!

NS05 · 04/12/2019 19:25

@Naughtyboob I felt nothing almost the whole time!!! That's why I thought it didn't work! I really don't think it's a big deal if you do or don't feel anything! My friend had three rounds (third worked) and she said she had the exact same feelings every time. Only thing I felt was headaches which was unusual for me but could of just been the meds!

Hi all, how is everyone getting on? I have a bit of funny story i wanted to share with you all....

So last night was my works xmas party. It was a bring a party to a party dinner and dance. Ive been struggling to sleep a bit recently so a bit tired and emotional. As i arrived i went to find my work mates and passed a girl i recognised but couldnt place her, we smiled and made that eye contact you do when you vaguely recognise each other and continued on. Then then when i went to the loo i recognised another lady but couldnt place her. I didnt think too much of it, probably just cant think who they are because i was tired.

We were called through to sit down for dinner, everyone is having a good time, i take a glass of prosecco as to avoid the 'oh youre not drinking you must be pegnant' comments which i stared at longingly the whole night (🤣).

The hotel manager gets on the microphone to start welcoming everyone then starts introducing the different tables. Big cheers from each of the tables as he does it... then he introduces the final 2 tables ... THE LOCAL FERTILITY CENTRE! i about chocked on my bread roll. I looked over to the table and heres the 2 woman i had seen with a few other faces i recognised. I counted at least 4 fertility nurses who have seen far more of me than i care to share 🤣🙈

What are the chances?!!🙈

NS05 · 08/12/2019 08:57

@PotatoJam haha that's so funny!!
How are you all doing? Xx

PotatoJam · 08/12/2019 10:48

I've been doing ok. Been working shifts this week followed by that night out last night so im feeling super tired and a bit worse for wear today. Think i need a day of recuperation! I have my scan on friday which im quite nervous about but im definitly still feeling several symptoms which is making me slightly more confident.

How are you coping with the 2ww @Naughtyboob? And @NS05 you must have your scan coming up in the next few days?

Naughtyboob · 08/12/2019 10:52

@potatojam good luck for your scan!! 2ww is going very slow and keep freaking out at everything! Been getting cramps since about 5am this morning so fingers crossed it's a good sign and not early period cramps!! I'm super tired but have been since starting this lot of medication so that's not a new symptom lol xx

NS05 · 08/12/2019 10:57

I'm ok thanks! Been having really bad vaginal pressure so I'm quite worried I could have a weak cervix or something! Have my scan on Tuesday so going to make sure they check it out- it's all so stressful! X

NS05 · 09/12/2019 15:02

After all the stress just went for my scan and baby was measuring perfectly with a strong heartbeat! I apparently have lots of veins in the vulva which is causing the pressure but he said even though it's painful it's no cause for concern. Hope everyone is well!

siananigans · 09/12/2019 21:56

That's so funny @PotatoJam! 😂

I've got my 12 week scan on Thursday, feeling a bit anxious about everything at the moment. It all still feels too good to be true I think, and I have this fear that they'll scan me and say there's nothing there 🙈
My tiredness seems to be improving, I didn't feel the need for any random 4hr naps this weekend! Although I have resigned myself to hire a painter and decorator to paint our hallway, stairs and landing after facing the fact I am just not going to do it myself.
Nausea has subsided and I'm not feeling the need to eat everything in sight anymore, which is positive!
My belly has got very hairy, and the skin incredibly itchy... My sister is telling me these are all good signs to try and ease my anxiety, but I don't think I'll feel better until I actually see that there's a baby inside there with my own eyes.

NS05 · 10/12/2019 15:51

Ah that's so exciting @siananigans ! My anxiety has been awful I'm trying not to constantly think about the pregnancy and get on with normal life! I'm having another scan at 8 weeks just to keep me calm but I'm going to try and wait between 8 and 12 as it's gonna be so expensive otherwise! Wish you all the best of luck I'm sure everything will be just fine!

OP posts:
Naughtyboob · 10/12/2019 18:17

@siananigans oh my gosh 12 weeks already!?! That's flown!! I'm sure everything will be fine but I can understand you wanting to see for yourself! I would be exactly the same!

@NS05 glad you got a strong heartbeat at your scan! How exciting!!

I test on Saturday, can't wait, but I don't feel any different so worried that it's not worked. It's 7 days past transfer today.

LucyLucyT · 11/12/2019 17:56

@siananigans good luck tomorrow, mine is booked for new year's Eve so a while to go. I'm still getting regular nausea and tiredness but hoping like you it'll settle in the next few weeks. I've had a cough for nearly two weeks which I'm fed up of too.
@PotatoJam love your Xmas party story! Good luck on Friday.
@NS05 I know it's hard not to be anxious but I'm sure things are fine :-) like you say, try and save some money for when the little one arrives! Or treat yourself to a spa day hehe.
@Naughtyboob fingers crossed for good news on Saturday, try not to worry about the symptoms, lots of people get BFP without them xx

NS05 · 11/12/2019 18:17

Thanks @LucyLucyT ! @Naughtyboob apart from being more tired and having headaches i literally still have no symptoms! I really think with all the drugs we have to take we are just used to the extra hormones before the pregnancy even comes about! I'm sure you will be absolutely fine- only three days to go woohoo!!!

OP posts:
PotatoJam · 12/12/2019 07:21

@NS05 thats fantastic news!! So so pleased for you ☺ must have been so lovely seeing the heartbeat!

@siananigans hope everything goes ok today! Let us know how it all goes ☺

@naughtyboob not long to go now. You holding up ok? Think no symptoms is pretty common!

siananigans · 12/12/2019 12:41

I feel like a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders today. There is actually a baby in there after all! ☺️

@siananigans wow and that is clearly a baby!!! Well done!! Grin
@potatojam I'm ok thanks just waiting. Can't wait till Saturday and at the same time don't want it to come in case it's not good news! Still not feeling any different.
Hope your all ok xx

LucyLucyT · 12/12/2019 19:27

@siananigans wow wow wow, great scan pic, so happy for you. Really hope I get the same in a few weeks! Has your due date changed much?
