IVF abroad

Hi all,

There was a lovely thread for all ladies trying IVF abroad. Anyone has any plans yet?
We are planning to go to Reprofit in Czech in April. Actually going there this March for some tests. DH was prescribed DNA fragmentation test by Mr Ramsey, can you imagine flights to Czech, hotel for 3 nights, parking in London for 4 days and DNA fragmentation test turns out cheaper than doing this test here in the UK on its own. I think it's good for us to see the clinic before we start too. Anyone is planning their cycle abroad? How do you find it?

@viletta we had MicroTESE here in the Uk. The stabbed the crap out of his one brave testicle and all it did was confirm what we already know, that he doesn't produce sperm. It has also impacted his libido and thus our sex life so thanks very much the NHS!

twinkledag sorry to hear that. It just takes one to stick so dont lose hope yet. Just to add my 5 penny worth unless you are seriously overweight then diet has no real effect on IVF success rates. A lot of the other add ins eg embryo glue have also been proven to have no effect either. Dont be fooled into spending extra money xx

@twinkledag don't loose hope just yet. It only takes one! Do you need to test it if it's only one?

@mumsey2be sorry to hear it affected your DH libido. Knowing how many men have low sperm count and that even the norm was re-written helped my DH realize it's not his fault. It really isn't. And sperm quality has nothing to do with libido and performance, hope he'll get through the crisis.

It's worth testing it to save a failed transfer don't you think?

@twinkledag I guess.. I am not familiar with what the tests might show. When I had only 1 embryo last time they put it in on day 3 rather than waiting for day 5, as there was nothing to choose from anyway.

Hi ladies just to say we had a 5 day AA put back in today. I am feeling ok - just relieved to finally have one on board. About to get on our flight to Pisa to spend a week at our home there. No trampolining allowed...apparently!! Love to you.

@mumsey2be congratulations on being PUPO! Good idea to have time off work and relax during 2ww, I'm back home in the UK now and not looking forward to going to work after Easter holidays. Otherwise feeling not bad. Keep calm and positive! Xx

@viletta, thank you! And thanks for the advice on the hubby - he has azoospermia which means he doesn't produce sperm at all. the upsides of low testosterone mean he looks a lot younger than he is and still has all his hair!!!

How are you all?

I am pretty good -i feel like a new person now the embryo is in - as in i feel i am like any other normal woman rather than someone in a medicalised situation because she has crap eggs etc.

No real symptoms to spot as yet -i pee a lot and feel a bit sore boobed but i think that is just the progesterone.

Hugs for the test tests week xx

Found out beta HCG pregnancy test in the UK is about £85. What a rip off! In Czech it would have been £15 tops

@twinkledag don't feel down, you've got one beautiful embryo and hopefully this will be the one! If not, you'll try again.

I don't know if we will @Viletta. This is round number 4 and we've said this would be our last time. I'm just so praying this is the sibling for our little boy. After our miscarriage last year I just want this to be it.

Viletta I did have the blood test as it came in with our treatment (split between UK and Spain) but the day before I took a clear blue digital and it came up pregnant 2 - 3 weeks immediately. So if you have nerves if steel.you could just go for the clear blue!

Hi all, didn't work this time around for me. Planning to go back in June for our frostie. Brno again yeeei...

Interestingly being really positive about the whole cycle didn't crush us when we saw bfn but brought is closer together. Having 2 frosties makes a difference, but even if not, I could go for another full cycle again. I feel like I need to power through it and stay strong and persistent.

Hope you all doing well whichever part of this 'amazing' adventure you are at right now.

Ah sorry Viletta! But really good you are both being positive. It really helps. Good luck for your next cycle. It was the frostie that worked for us x
