IVF abroad

Hi all,

There was a lovely thread for all ladies trying IVF abroad. Anyone has any plans yet?
We are planning to go to Reprofit in Czech in April. Actually going there this March for some tests. DH was prescribed DNA fragmentation test by Mr Ramsey, can you imagine flights to Czech, hotel for 3 nights, parking in London for 4 days and DNA fragmentation test turns out cheaper than doing this test here in the UK on its own. I think it's good for us to see the clinic before we start too. Anyone is planning their cycle abroad? How do you find it?

@WillHappenSoon if worst comes worst I'll fly to Czech and get my meds there.. Ryanair flights from Stansted are £45 return. Let me know how you get on with the appointment on Monday? So far I'm pleased a get same doctor following up my test results which is great. Overall I'm very positive, we loved Brno, everyone is very friendly. I think the main difference for me is communications via supervisor / assistant through emails rather than having a call from the doctor directly. And of course the travel expenses and planning. I'm looking forward to it though, we decided to make a holiday out of it and travel to Prague and Vienna for a day. I've read a scientific paper saying that women who are more optimistic about IVF have better outcomes. I decided I'll be optimistic this time around and will think positive. I'm watching videos of John Kehoe on positive thinking, it does help. How are you doing? When do you reckon you'll go there?

@Viletta - I remember reading somewhere that in Israel they have clowns perform for women who have just had ET because research shows being positive/happy has a positive impact on implantation. Think I'll download some funny clips on my phone!

Making a holiday out of it sounds like a good idea - I've never been to Prague (or the Czech Republic) before but I worked in Vienna (a very long time ago) and have holidayed in Bratislava (all approximately 2 hours away by train)...lovely places to visit.

I would like start a cycle asap but I know the clinic wants you to have had at least two bleeds after a failed cycle. This will take me to the end of April/start of May. I do feel positive but I am trying to be realistic too. Anecdotally, I know of couples who have been ultimately had success in the Czech Republic after failed cycles elsewhere, but it did take a few rounds.

Will let you know how I get on Monday and hope your bloods and protocol come through I'll check out John Kehoe! xx

@WillHappenSoon there is definitely lots of research on how being positive and let the situation go improves the rates slightly. www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0015028208033669

I think I'll be optimistic now and realistic later. Good luck with your cycle. Having a rest is definitely good. My failed cycle was in June last year. Looks like we only have 3 - 4 weeks left before we start again, will go on a healthy craze (we've been not so good lately). Good luck and keep me posted xx

Hi all, do you know how easy and quick it is to order meds once you've got a prescription? I've only got 9 days till my period and still waiting for prescription.. they want to wait till my husband's test is ready..

I used Fertility2U, an online pharmacy which partners with Reprofit. They had a next day delivery service I think. Reprofit can send the prescription directly to them as well and they were the cheapest on the market.

Glad Si1ver was able to provide answer ;)

So, I had my phone consultation on Monday and we are going out to Reprofit for treatment in May. The consultant was friendly and explained the procedures. I am excited and nervous and just want to get on with it now!

We are going for donor eggs - it's clear that OE's won't work for us. Multiple failed cycles and told our chances are very slim. When we started on this journey quite a few years ago we were unexplained. Then MFI. Now my eggs are rubbish too. Our chances of success with OE ICSI was revised down from 30% to 10%.

I am grateful we have the chance to try with DE and hoping we all get our respective BFPs xx

I'm starting on Menopur next week when my period arrives.

I haven't had a consultation with the consultant from Reprofit, do you think I should!!??

Hi everyone, interesting thread.

Can I ask how long roughly from initial contact to traveling out there with donor eggs? I want to get the ball rolling, but slightly concerned it will be 6 months or something. We are currently doing an NHS cycle but I basically have no eggs left after being on the waiting list for 3.5 years. Not that I'm bitter about it or anything...

@twinkledag I didn't bother. I spoke to the consultant after my first scan on meds, but I started my cycle without speaking to anyone. The doctors reviewed my bloods and scans and prescribed based on that. I spoke to my father who's a doctor and he said that talking to someone would only put my mind at rest, it wouldn't change the protocol so I didn't bother. I was desperate not to delay things. It's maybe not an approach for everyone though.

@AliceAbsolum I don't know about DE. With OE I started the next full cycle.

Hi all, got my meds prescription! Comes down to only £420 + £60 for delivery from fertility2u. I'm very happy with the price, was expecting much more. Last time I was on gonal f and this time they prescribed menopur. How are you all doing?

That's great news. Fertility2U is ridiculously cheap. My meds from there cost £550 but Asda) Sainsbury's/local pharmacy all quoted over £1k, one up to £1.8k

The service is great too.

@Si1ver wow! That's a huge difference indeed! The service is great, agree! They delivered the meds next day for me as I was worried my period was about to start.

Hi all, following with interest as I'm currently researching fertility clinics abroad for IUI. Anyone with experience of IUI abroad? With Reprofit? Thanks Smile

@Viletta - I'm cycling at Reprofit too. Currently on CD3. What cycle day should I plan to be in Brno??

Report
Si1ver · 30/03/2019 23:16

I flew out on CD10, realistically I could have gone later. Looking at my diary, I triggered on CD13 and had EC on CD15. It meant I had 5 days before EC and then another 5 before transfer.

With hindsight I wish I'd flown after my trigger, as although Brno is lovely there's not really enough to do to keep you busy for 10 days.

@Si1ver thank you for the info! We are planning to go to Prague and Vienna from Brno to keep ourselves busy, it's a 1:45 train journey.

@twinkledag I'm CD4, looks like we are going to be there around the same time! How are you doing?

@Viletta I'm ok. Currently on 225 Menopur, you?

This is my 3rd cycle trying for a sibling for my DS. First at Reprofit though. Having egg collecting then PGD testing so a longer process this time.

I think I will aim to go fly next Sunday and fly back the Thursday after. Gutted as the Barcelo is fully booked ☹️

When are you out there?

Hi all, wanted to check with you on how you transported your injections when flying? It looks like the time of the flight coincide with my injection time so I'll have to inject on board.
