Hi ladies
I’m hoping to find a cycle buddy or anyone who has been through IVF before. We are due to have our appointment for our plan at the end of next week and I just wanted to hear any stories/advice anyone may have as my mind is very busy with questions.
A little background from me, I’m 28 and been trying to conceive for 3 years now. Last year I was diagnosed with severe endometriosis which sadly affected both of my tubes. I’ve had them removed in November and all endo has been removed. We have been told the chances of conception are against us due to the severity of my condition but I’m holding onto hope. Are there any ladies who have similar stories who can give me a little encouragement? I’m quite nervous to start IVF but excited at the idea this could be our chance!
Thanks 😊💛 xx

@Hopingforbabyd I know what you mean, it's nice to have the support. Most night I've had to do them at work which isn't exactly ideal. You'll be fine, reward yourself after each one with some chocolate or something?

I'm still feeling horrendous. TMI (sorry) it feels like I need to go to the toilet all the time, I'm hoping tomorrow's scan is good news and I can have EC on Wednesday! I spoke to the nurse and she said I'll be asleep during it and if I look like I'm coming round they'll make sure I go back to sleep.

Hopefully you ladies having cramps it's good news!

@Chester6 that was an interesting read, I'll look at for any spotting after my transfer

AliceAbsolum · 07/04/2019 09:29

@Hopingforbabyd Yes I'm in a similar position. I think after the last couple I'll get used to it. Probably only take 5 min to do the injection and then I'm going to carry on as normal. Can you Skype him?

AliceAbsolum · 07/04/2019 09:59

1st*

Hopingforbabyd · 07/04/2019 09:59

@daisymay25 @aliceabsolum thank you for the advice ladies it has helped a lot 😊 you’re right, I guess it doesn’t take too long and I think chocolate as a reward sounds like a brill plan 😁 I think I will skype him while I do them that’s a good idea. I’m just a bit worried I’ll do it wrong, have you all done your own stims?

@Hopingforbabyd I've done all my injections myself (I don't think I'd trust DH haha) it's over in seconds really. I've been doing two a day for the past week and a half and I don't really mind them anymore.

mouse1234567 · 07/04/2019 10:08

@Hopingforbabyd sorry to hear you are feeling worried. Timing never works out well does it?? I did my first injection last night (although I have done 4 of the same before for IUI so I’m lucky I was familiar ) and it was fine. I made a point of doing it myself as im going to be on my own staying with my parents quite a lot over my school holidays -my mum would prob be ok to help me but my dad is scared of needles which makes me laugh!! These men! Try not to worry -you are going through infertility so you are tough -and there is a certain sense of pride when you do it. It’s over so quick too! Skype is a good idea tho! Or perhaps a friend/family member as company for the first one?

@DaisyMay25 hopefully you can have EC soon-you must be very sore. I remember my friend at work had to stimm for quite a while and she was very sore and ready for EC when it came.

Wesstywoo · 07/04/2019 10:13

Hi @Hopingforbabyd not quite the same but my DH is so squeamish that I had to disappear off to the bathroom every night to do mine - I was really nervous about the prospect but honestly I didn't find them bad at all (the needles are really small!). I didn't get side effects from the stims either, funnily enough I found the norethisterone to be the worst bit on that front! To be honest I think the anticipation of it all starting is worse than when you are actually doing it because once you start you just do it and then each day is a day closer to EC!

I've had extra meds added to my protocol so I'm now also on injections, fingers crossed it fixes the issue with my lining xx

WorriedButterfly · 07/04/2019 10:38

@Hopingforbabyd it is tough on you that he isn't around, but a great idea to Skype. The injections aren't so bad, they definitely become easier. Leave yourself enough time to methodically prep them so you don't become stressed. I was all set for my DH to do mine, then on the day I sent him off out and wanted to do it myself, it gave me a feeling of 'I've got this' and control. Following that I couldn't imagine him doing them! For me a routine and almost a ritual helped, I made the bedroom nice, put on my bedside lamp to make it relaxing and had a stim playlist of my fave tunes!

You will be ok, we're all here too, gunning for you. X

Hopingforbabyd · 07/04/2019 10:45

@daisymay25 @mouse1234567 @westywoo @worriedbutterfly thank you so much ladies, I cannot explain how much relief reading all your messages have given me. And you’re all right, I got this! If he were here I would probably get annoyed with him and want to do them myself anyway 😄
I’m definitely going to be using all of the tips you’ve given me I’ll keep you updated with how I get on.
Hope you are all feeling okay and having a lovely lazy Sunday morning - you all deserve it! X

Haha @hopingforbabyd -I def know what you mean re getting annoyed with him -when we were doing my injections for IUI my DH was trying to be really bossy and it was actually quite annoying. He wanted to inject it and I’m a bit of a control freak so didn’t really want him to! I was getting stressed about getting all the liquid out the vials and he thought I was making a fuss! It might be easier on your own!!

Hopingforbabyd · 07/04/2019 10:59

@mouse1234567 haha sounds like my hubby...dya know what, I reckon I’ve just talked myself into that he can leave me to do them on my own 😂😂 I got this! Lol x

AnnaSteen · 07/04/2019 12:07

@hopingforbabyd I did my injections myself and I have a complete phobia of needles. I wanted my husband there more for moral support so Skype is definitely a good idea.

Hopingforbabyd · 07/04/2019 12:30

@annastern thank you, did Skype work okay for you? I think it’ll be okay it’s just a bit daunting isn’t it. I think I feel a bit disheartened as I don’t want him to miss out or not feel included or even worse be shocked when he goes to the appointments we need to attend together and it hit him that it’s kinda a big deal x

OP posts:
AnnaSteen · 07/04/2019 13:01

@hopingforbabyd for me I needed him there for reassurance that I’d actually done the injection and that everything looked ok. So that was fine for Skype. I think it is important for them to be there in some shape or form also to see what you’re going through and for support

Hopingforbabyd · 07/04/2019 13:25

@annasteen definitely, I’ll make sure we can skype where possible fingers crossed he can be home for a couple of them and for trigger that means the most to me and I don’t know why think it is because it’s like “we’ve done it!”

Hi guys,

I'm starting my down regging on Tuesday with supreceur injections, don't really know what to expect and also very nervous about it. My other half has offered to do the first one, but I don't know whether to just do it myself and get on with it! Has anyone else had to inject supreceur? Were there any side effects? Emotional wreck? Lol xx

Chester6 · 07/04/2019 20:31

Hi guys, I have been having lots of cramps on and off today (4dp et) and I’m starting to panic a little. They are quite low down and am having weird twinges too and what feels like the odd pain on my left ovary. I am just so nervous after two failed attempts. I feel I should only be thinking positively but I am so nervous x

mouse1234567 · 07/04/2019 20:45

@Chester6 ah-it must be such a stressful time for you-particularly after two previous transfers. I really feel for you. My acupuncturist told me that there really is no way of telling either way in the tww as all the progesterone causes so many symptoms.

I really hope this is implanting for you. Fingers crossed for you.

WorriedButterfly · 07/04/2019 23:20

@Chester6 try to stay positive, you have your tablets this time. I think it is hard to tell what's happening with everything atm, I had cramps before ET from progesterone which have now gone and come back faintly now and again. I had twinges like a bladder infection last night, but everything is fine today. Please stay positive and hope for the best.

@sl85 I had suprecur, wasn't so bad, I had a few hot flushes but that was it, hope it goes well for you.

sl85 · 08/04/2019 06:40

@WorriedButterfly thank you! There's so much unknown!

sl85 · 08/04/2019 11:31

So, all set to start my injections tomorrow, day 21 of my cycle...and this morning my period comes - 9 days early which is unheard of ☹️ why does this have to happen now?! I just feel like this is going to mess it all up and delay everything. I got so upset my boss sent me home from work and I just don't know what to think. I phoned the clinic and they said they would get a nurse to call me back but not heard anything yet. Can't stop crying. Has anything like this happened to anyone else? Just feel like my body keeps letting me down 😭

DaisyMay25 · 08/04/2019 11:51

Just had my scan, 25 follicles!! At least ten were over the 17mm they need, a few over 20 and one was even 26mm! They said they're not surprised I feel as bad as I do. Egg collection all set for Wednesday just waiting for seacroft to call me with a time. I'm borderline for over stimulating though which worries me. All booked in for my test day too, 8:20 on my birthday...

Tamtam86 · 08/04/2019 12:08

@sl85 oh no, I'm sorry to hear that!! This hasn't happened to me but my period always seems to do something unexpected when I'm about to start ivf. Hope you get answers from your clinic soon.

@DaisyMay25 that's fantastic!! I was borderline for over stimulation too (27eggs) but didn't get OHSS and could still go ahead with my fresh transfer. I drank lots of lucozade after egg collection, and they gave me cabergoline to help prevent it. Hopefully you will be ok and avoid OHSS!! I remember how awful I felt just before and after egg collection though, so I feel your pain!

DaisyMay25 · 08/04/2019 12:12

@Tamtam86 oh wow! That's amazing, they said if it's 15 or more collected to give them a call and go in for a blood test. That's great that you didn't have a freeze all, gives me hope! How're you doing today? Still got the cramps?

Agog123 · 08/04/2019 12:16

@daisymay25 I had similar experience with 25 follicles 23 eggs collected. Lots of lucozade here too! The pain persisted and I had a scan super early after bfp as they were worried about possible tubal. Apparently my poor ovaries looked awful, it wasn’t until my 12 week scan that I had healed. They really do go through it. Don’t be too disheartened when they collect the eggs, half of mine were immature/over mature and then 9 fertilised. From 9 I got three blasts, but going from having so many follicles to having a more ‘expected’ number in the end was a shock. Fingers crossed for EC and the coming days :) I’ll be thinking of you!
