Hi all, starting a new thread for those of us who are starting IVF treatment in February.

This will be my second round of ICSI, I start buserelin injections on 17th February. We have MFI (low sperm count) and after our first cycle ended in a chemical pregnancy, I demanded a laparoscopy because I have always had painful periods. The lap discovered I have mild endometriosis and mild adenomyosis but the surgeon said it was mild enough to not affect my fertility.

I am continuing with the NHS, doing a second fresh cycle. We have 3 frozen embryos from the first round as backup if this one doesn't work...

Would be good to have some cycle buddies to share support over the next couple of months...

@MrsC18 interesting to know the differences. Can I ask why they've suggested the short protocol for you? Mine is due to slightly raised AMH (but not PCOS) x

MrsC18 · 13/02/2019 20:59

@Twiglet2353 no idea, we're unexplained so there's nothing known wrong. The clinic said their standard protocol is the short because there are less side effects for the woman than the long. From research though, the down side is that there can be less eggs collected, but I'm happy to go with their decision.

AliceAbsolum · 13/02/2019 21:05

They just make it up as they go along don't they! As if there is not an agreed way of doing things.

MrsC18 · 13/02/2019 21:09

@AliceAbsolum it's all just trial and error because most women react differently to the types of medication so they prescribe a protocol and medication that they think will work for you for the first cycle and subsequent will usually be amendments to that based on how they think they can improve. What would def make it all easier is if all of our bodies would just bloody work first go!

We have our appt with the nurse on the 27/2, to go through paperwork etc and was wondering what others experiences was on treatment starting after this. My next cycle is due around the 9/3, so I’m sort of guessing that it will be the cycle after that at the earliest.

MrsC18 · 14/02/2019 07:42

@Twiglet2353 just out of interest, what is your AMH level? Mine's 25, but they didn't tell me it was high?

Dreamsofnr2 · 14/02/2019 08:00

Hi I'm on Day 10 after post egg collection bleed and no sign of ovulation coming - is this usual? I'm waiting to do a FET as soon as I've had my next period but now worried this will be a really long cycle of ovulation is going to be delayed??

Twiglet2353 · 14/02/2019 15:31

@MrsC18 32.8 x

Russkispy · 14/02/2019 15:55

CD33 and still no AF. And BFN. Oh I give up!

Meownow9 · 14/02/2019 21:06

@Russkispy that's so frustrating! It's annoying when you don't know what's going on and you just want to move to the next stage (whatever that might be). Maybe a warm bath might bring on AF? Drinking parsley tea (literally some dried parsley stirred into in hot water) worked for me a couple of times in the past if you can bear it!

Russkispy · 14/02/2019 22:54

@Meownow9 oh I never heard of it! Willing to try anything! Thank you!

Thund4rcat · 15/02/2019 14:59

@dreamsofnr2 do you mean you are on day 10 of your current cycle then? Wouldn't you normally ovulate around day 14? So you might not have symptoms of ovulation yet as far as I understand things. I expect after all the hormones it would be quite likely this cycle will be different to what is normal for you anyway.

@Thund4rcat
Hi yeah I would definitely normally be getting High ovulation readings by now even if peak wasn't for several days but am getting nothing. And worried that I'll have to wait weeks for ovulation and next period before I can then do the FET

AliceAbsolum · 16/02/2019 18:00

Mine AMH is 6.2, they said this was 'on the low side'.

Russkispy · 17/02/2019 09:35

Decided to take a FRER before the scan, just in case and it's BFP! I'm in shock! CD36 today. Not idea when I ovulated! A bit clueless about the dates! Waiting to my speak to my doctor! And this is a natural conception! Totally in shock!

@Russkispy congratulations miracles can happen when u least expect it

Justwaitingforaline · 17/02/2019 12:33

Hello, can I jump in please? I had my Egg collection two and a half weeks ago but had to freeze all due to OHSS risk. I produced 26 eggs, donated 13 to an anonymous recipient ( we did egg sharing IVF) and we have 3 top grade blastocysts in the freezer ready to use! I’ve had a period already; just waiting for the next one and then we can start on the one after which should be end of March/beginning of April. We have our FET consult on the 27th of this month Smile

Twiglet2353 · 17/02/2019 15:16

Congrats @Russkispy! Hope you're bringing all the luck to the thread!!

Meownow9 · 17/02/2019 15:32

Oh wow, congrats @Russkispy!

Hi @Justwaitingforaline, that's great that you have three in the freezer - fingers crossed for you :) do you mind me asking how egg sharing works (briefly)?

I did my trigger last night and now feeling quite aware of my ovaries' presence. Any time a stranger gets too close I want to snarl at them like a grizzly bear, haha.

Is anyone else at Guy's (London) out of interest?

Justwaitingforaline · 17/02/2019 16:09

Meow egg sharing is basically you donating half of the eggs you produce in an IVF cycle to someone in need of healthy donor eggs Smile. If you produce less than 8 eggs, you get to keep them all

Meownow9 · 17/02/2019 17:06

@Justwaitingforaline oh I see, that's a nice thing to do :)

Ginandtonic31 · 17/02/2019 17:15

@Meownow9 I’m at Guys for egg collection and transfer bitthrough a satellite clinic (Sheffield) for work up and scans etc. We just travel to London for egg collection.

Meownow9 · 18/02/2019 12:44

Had my egg retrieval today. They collected 12 eggs, six of which were from the smaller follicles so those ones might not be mature enough, but we'll see. Going to keep myself busy until they call tomorrow.

Twiglet2353 · 18/02/2019 13:00

@Meownow9 keeping all my fingers and toes crossed for you

Meownow9 · 18/02/2019 13:17

Thanks @Twiglet2353
