Hi, me and my husband have had all our tests done and have been referred for IVF on NHS funding, we have been told that there should be no reason why we shouldn’t get funding but I am wondering what the time frames are on when we will receive our letter to state we have the funding to when when we will get the next appointment and timescales on treatment, we have always knew what the fertility issue was but we have had to have all tests going to rule out anything else before referring us and this has taken nearly 1 and a half years so am unsure on how long the next bit will take, any info from anyone would be greatly appreciated x

Hi. They probably get the fibroids out 1st

VenusStarr · 28/05/2019 21:57

I've got my hysteroscopy in August @Babydoll19 and they've said it's a one stop treatment, so if they want to take any fibroids out they'll do it there and then. I have lots but they're all quite small and all in the wall so hopefully not houbg to cause an issue 🤞

VenusStarr · 28/05/2019 21:57

*going

Babydoll19 · 28/05/2019 23:46

Yh they do it there and then. Good luck. I had my polyp taken out when i had mines done ages ago. I did it under General Anaesthetic. Im not brave like other people who get it done under local. I had a appointmentment with the dr today at women's. Dr said to try naturally. Or if we want to self fund for another treatments. Treatments are so pricey. [Shock I asked about IuI treatment. He said as I get a period every month I should be ovulating every month anyway so I wont need clomid. I was like well some women dont ovulate every month. Just because you get period every month dosent mean you will ovulate every month. The dr was like ok on ur next period on 21 day we will do a blood test to see if you do ovulate. And if you dont ovulate then we will try clomid.

Its like you have to pester drs to not give up on you. I even said to the dr that the nhs is reluctant to prescribe clomid. I think he got abit uncomfortable with what I said thats why his willing to do a blood test and see if i ovulate. Its like as if the nhs gives up on you just after one treatment. And if you dont self fund then they not bothered. Sometimes you have to be stubborn. I even said that I have read on google that 3 cycles of ivf is free. He said thats not the case anymore. Nhs have less money blah blah. They should be updating the nhs website then about it.

Sorry for my rant. But have to let it out

VenusStarr · 29/05/2019 08:57

Thank you @Babydoll19. Am having it under local. Our next appointment is in September so I didnt want to affect that. I'm nervous about the pain but just keeping my fingers crossed thay I'll be OK. I've got the day off and booked the next day as leave.

Rang away. It's so shit. I didn't think iui was for people who don't ovulate, I thought anyone could try that option?

Did you not get any embryos to freeze? It's horrible they're just saying that's it. Did they say why they thought it didnt work out? What's your diagnosis?

Have you looked at local clinics? Sometimes they offer deals, so it's cheaper if you bulk buy rounds.

Hope you're OK x

VenusStarr · 29/05/2019 08:58

I can type and spell honestly!!

Babydoll19 · 29/05/2019 14:02

No i didnt have any to freeze. Dr didnt give any reason why ivf failed. Good luck to you. Your brave doing it local. Let me know how you get on x

VenusStarr · 29/05/2019 14:05

That's really frustrating for you @Babydoll19. I know they can't ever be definite but if you were to have more rounds with them it would be useful to know what to do differently next time.

I'll keep you posted. I've got the hsg and ultrasound next Thursday x

Babydoll19 · 29/05/2019 14:10

Yeah. Good luck x

Hiya @jadeswindell31 I’m well thank you, we waited about a week and then had an appointment come though to go for consent signing the day after our appointment came through which I was shocked it came so quick to be honest. We now have an appointment for 3rd July to pick up prescription and start treatment.. hope everything goes well for you xx

Pinktruffle · 17/06/2019 16:31

I'm sorry if this has already been asked but how quick was the process from specialist referral to group session to initial appointment for IVF?
At my last appointment at BWH I was told this is my last stint on ovulation medication and if it doesnt work, an IVF referral will be made for me in October

jadeswindell31 · 17/06/2019 17:22

@LauraDale1989 hey Laura thanks for your reply! Wowwww it’s all happening quickly now then ❤️ Nothing ever seems to be quick there and there’s lots of waiting around! Hopefully we should receive our letter this week then 😊 also I have my own ivf blog on Instagram if you want someone to talk to during this journey! Fertilityfreak is my name xx

M403 · 21/07/2019 09:52

Hi all, I'm new to this but have been following the thread on here. I have just started the first set of injections and I'm on day 7 today. Nervous about the whole process and mostly egg collection. Just wanted to say hi to you all and wish everyone good luck!

Maybe2020 · 27/07/2019 14:59

Hey I used to be under the name of Rspu but have changed to this one. Don’t think anyone would remember me anyway lol.
Me and my dh were referred for icsi a few weeks ago and just waiting for the letter to say if we have funding or not. I’m very anxious and trying to get as healthy as possible. I have a question if anyone could answer who has been through it at bwh. Me and dh have a holiday booked for the end of September, we were wondering if funding comes through and we get an apppintment to begin our round are we able to postpone until we come back from holiday? I’m also worried about drinking alcohol on holiday would it affect our chances? I haven’t drank alcohol/caffeine for the past 2 months but I will enjoy drinks on holiday there’s no point saying I won’t! Lol x

babydust235 · 06/08/2019 15:45

hey girls, how’s everyone getting on?

Jezie000 · 23/02/2020 09:29

Hi there, all the lovely ladies who seem to be in the same boat as I. At the moment me and my oh are negotiationg between private and NHS IVF. Van I just check is it true that Birmingham offer just ONE cycle for free???? All website say NHS offer three cycles. Obviously, 3 cycles private is very expensive so we are thinking to try NHS but if NHS offers just one then why online says three. Has anyone had, or know anyone who had 3 cycles of free IVF on NHS please?

Littlebb2020 · 23/02/2020 12:04

@Jezie000 yes Birmingham do offer one nhs funded cycle, the HFEA advises clinics to offer 3 full funded cycles but it’s a sort of postcode lottery and depends on the area you are in and your ccg funding unfortunately. But that one round is still free and worth a go! Birmingham women’s are a good clinic too, I have just finished my funded round their. X
