Hi, me and my husband have had all our tests done and have been referred for IVF on NHS funding, we have been told that there should be no reason why we shouldn’t get funding but I am wondering what the time frames are on when we will receive our letter to state we have the funding to when when we will get the next appointment and timescales on treatment, we have always knew what the fertility issue was but we have had to have all tests going to rule out anything else before referring us and this has taken nearly 1 and a half years so am unsure on how long the next bit will take, any info from anyone would be greatly appreciated x

It's funny how areas work differently. Our GP did bloods, SA and scan them referred straight to BWH. Really mot looking forward to the hsg and the hysteroscopy - it's only under local and I have fibroids, scared they're going to try and get them out there and then! Time definitely sounds like it's on your side @LauraDale1989, I'm nearly 36 and dh is 37... We've had 1 mmc too. The waiting gives too much thinking time! Can you let us know how the group meeting goes? X

I'm due tww over tomorrow, I'm spotting quite heavier than normal 😥 Lets see what the test holds for me tomorrow

So sorry to hear test is negative @Babydoll19 .. yes I will let you know how group meeting goes @VenusStarr and I will keep everything crossed that your hsg and hysteroscopy goes well.. hopefully they won’t be too bad for you. I agree the waiting definitely gives too much thinking time I had to get my BMI down too so I feel like I’ve been on a diet forever which is killing me lol but hopefully it will be worth the wait for us all.. xx

hope you don’t mind me joining, I have a few questions
I went to the gp today and asked for a referral to the fertility centre at BWH. I have never been pregnant but OH has 1 DD already so will be self funding. How long does the referral from GP to initial consultation take ?

@babydust235 my referral took 6 months from bloods, scan and SA to first appointment. Then got more scans and investigations with a follow up 4 months later.

Any reason why you're choosing BWH rather than choosing a private clinic? I feel like things might be quicker if you're self funding just to go to a different clinic rather than wait for a referral.

Hey @venusstarr it was okay thanks, literally had to sit in the lecture theatre in front of a projector and there was a woman gave us a lot of information on the ivf process. From injections right up to what happens if you get a successful pregnancy.
Very interesting actually. They also gave us a folder with all the information in and forms to sign.. She said we have to wait for another appointment to come through now for the consent signing and to pick up prescriptions. Then hopefully we won’t be far off from starting 🤞🏻

Same. I try to think positive but its so hard seeing people with their children and inside its killing me.

I’ve had day 21 bloods, they came back fine.
Hubby had SA which showed azoospermia, they did some investigations on him and consultant said ivf with icsi and surgical sperm retrieval is our only option...
We did do some research into private clinics, but BWH seems to be the cheapest and closest. Already had to take out 2 credit cards ready to fund it.
If we know that it is MIF will they still need to investigate me or will they presume I’m fertile? Can we bring the results from our tests or will they need to be repeated? Sorry for all the questions. Sorry to hear about the bad news. I come across calm about it all but I’m dying inside. I knew it was going to be hard, I didn’t know it was going to be this hard....

I'm not sure @babydust235. They're not redoing my blood tests or dh SA. But I have been sent for a scan, hsg and a hysteroscopy, I do have fibroids though that showed up on the GP initial scan, so not sure if that's standard or not or because they know I have a potential issue. Hope you get an appointment soon.
