Hi ladies, just wondered if anyone wants to hold hands as we go through a cycle?

After a failed fresh cycle earlier this year, I’m starting my progynova today with a planned FET for May.

Would love some company x

@ginandtonic was this because of pcos? Sorry you had to go through this. What was your dosage of fsh if you don’t mind my asking? I’m at risk of ohss so I’m on menopur alternating between 75 and 150 iu

@ANisl did you hear back on the protocol?

@sissi the first one I was quite nervous about - the fear of the unknown. But didn’t feel any different later. Today - day 2 - I was less nervous but it stung a little bit.. nothing major. I hope you get on ok.

@cobbles, no I don't have PCOS, or at least not that I've been told! When I had the first scan to help them decide dosage they found 25+ follicles each side. I was on 137.5 of FSH per day. They collected 37 eggs, 32 of which were mature enough to use.

An added complication for me is that I have epilepsy - zero research has been done on IVF and epilepsy, and neither my neurologist nor my FS have a clue about whether any of the drugs will affect my epilepsy.

Had my second scan yesterday and it appears I've grown another follicle since my last scan. Flights today.

Cobblestones I received my protocol this morning, my clinic were really not happy with the scan report that my scan clinic sent, they have demanded I go to another clinic. I start Gonal 150 tonight and folic obviously. Monday I will start my Cetrotride. They want me in Greece for trigger shot on morning of 10th

Just had my baseline scan and unfortunately not good news for me.
They saw something on my ovary and they are unsure if it's just something from previous cycle or not so had to have a blood test and will confirm in the afternoon the outcome.

To add to the bad news they saw only 4 follicles (always had 6 before) so if also they'll give me the green light to start with the injections I am not really sure I can hope for anything with only 4 follicles... maybe I should wait another month ???

The hospital called and my little embryos survived and divided as they should, although they are only grade 2. They are going to put them both back tomorrow all being well. I have acupuncture booked before and after and will no doubt be googling obsessively about what else I can do!

Loving reading all these messages and feeling not so alone especially as laid up in bed today as b1tch AF turned up and I have endometriosis so she’s really going to town on me today!!!
Welcome @ginanftonicformeplease I’m also a late joiner and only on day 10 of a 3 week down reg and this is my first ivf so I’m the one asking all the questions!

@southernbella I hope I’m as chilled out as you after ET time, in fact I hope I get there! I only have 5 follicles at start and high fsh at 10

@AniSL love it 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 that's proper cheered me up. Gawd things they dream up 🤷‍♀️. Fyi my cetrotide injection this morning didn't sting at all!! Not sure why. Either we found a sweet spot to inject or it helps bringing the drug to room temperature first. Or maybe it just didn't work properly this morning. My brain is going into over drive. So much analysing 🤨. At least you have a date for trigger hopefully. Good luck booking flights

@Sissi81 I really don't know what to advise, never been in that situation. I'm sure there are some ladies that have had success with 4 follicles, sure i read earlier in this thread something to that effect

@ginandtonicformeplease welcome to our group. I'd kill for a G&T right now, it's my favourite tipple!! 😩 goals though. Sounds like you had a rough experience with EC

Thanks for all your messages ladies, my little embie defrosted as well as possible and the transfer went smoothly🎉 Was a lot better this time as I could see it on the screen a lot more clearly. At home on the sofa chilling and watching comedies!

@bangsaklove, I started with 6 follicles before stims and I ended up getting 8 eggs during my first ICSI. I’m north of 40, so that was more than anyone could have imagined.

I ended up with 2 normal embryos (I did PGS testing) and hopefully the one transferred yesterday will stick. 🙏

@SouthernBella74 unfortunately clinic just called... they have cancelled my cycle for this month ... really hope I'll not see any if you in the next month group and that it will work out for all of you this time.

Is acupuncture recommended throughout ivf? Sorry if I’m asking too many questions!

@ginandtonic hope epilepsy doesn’t interfere and that they look after you as well as they possibly can.

@sissi hope someone can advise you on the waiting vs going for it.

@picklesandpetals glad the injection didn’t hurt today!

Btw I’m using an app - Mindful IVF. I usually listen to a 15 min recording before going to sleep and so far I’ve found it quite effective in calming down an over active brain.

@cobblestones from what I’ve read acupuncture is recommended before and after ivf, I did have a random one off session yesterday before transfer and she said she didn’t need to see me post transfer so I guess everyone is different

@ginandtonicformeplease welcome and hopefully you get some answers re the epilepsy soon , I imagine there must have been others going through ivf with epilepsy in the past so fingers crossed

@Cobblestones I had acupuncture several times before EC, and I'll be going back before and after FET. I was sceptical at first but I found it really relaxing - my clinic is very into the holistic side of things, included with our fee was an appt with a nutritionist. I've now got 12 good quality blasts in the freezer, and I think the acupuncture and nutritionist helped.

My consultant neurologist has never had a patient go through IVF before and my FS hasn't either - I feel a bit like an experiment for both of them!

@Summerloving17 excellent, feet up now and look after yourself. Just a loooong wait to find out 🤞

@Cobblestones good shout. I feel slightly unhinged during this process, it's pretty intense. Exciting, but equally your mind doesn't switch off from analysing it all

Thanks @Summerloving17 @picklesandpetals @bangsaklove we have been paying privately for the cycle after the lovely NHS approved the funds and cancelled them The they before we started for an "admin" error... but that's another story.

I am taking this news in a positive way, at least the clinic is not making me try just for the sake of it and to spend money. They want to have the beat possible outcome so 4 weeks after 2 years is nothing.

Hi all, I'm so glad I've found you all (albeit a bit late, who knew mumsnet did pre-baby threads )

I hope everyone who has had collections and transfers today are doing okay and I'm so sorry for those who have had to stop their cycles.

I've had my first cycle EC today after a long protocol of three weeks down reg with buserelin injections and 12 days of high dose menopur. I'm feeling positive as we collected 21 eggs (although I won't know until tomorrow how many are mature) and OH had a much higher count and motility than his three previous SA.

I'm feeling okay-ish - oddly most of the pain from today is in my bottom, especially when going to the toilet (sorry for TMI ) Has anyone else been experiencing this?

I've been fine with the injections but tomorrow I start the dreaded progesterone pessaries - has anyone started on these yet? I'd love some advice of how to cope with them!

Sorry for the complete brain dump - although I have lots of support with friends and family it's nice to be able to talk to people who are actually going through the same thing.

Ladies I wanted to ask you what’s yours views on the whole caffeine thing? Hospital said to “reduce” but not from what amount! I’m wondering if my sudden caffeine cut is bringing me headaches as I never get them usually (unless hungover ;)
I’m now worried can I even have green tea?

@banksalove the evidence is very sketchy on caffeine and I was told to keep below 200mg per day which is more than enough to cover my usual two cups of tea and some chocolate! A few green teas a day would be fine, I think it’s more aimed towards multiple expresso a day and red bull etc drinkers

@Cirodimarzio, I won’t lie, the cyclogest pessaries aren’t the best but I’ve used them rectally rather than vaginally this time and it definitely helps. I think the worst of all my medications has been these lubion (even more progesterone injections!) they hurt two days plus afterwards and have given me lumps and bruises. My consultant said that unfortunately they are unpleasant but very effective so stick with them!
