Hi, I was wondering if anyone is about to start IVF. Would be good to go through this journey with someone/people. Share experiences etc.

Awww good luck for Tuesday, let me know how you get in. I am shocked by how many different types of medications there are. I wonder how they decide to who takes what! The injections are fine, as of yet no side affects, how are you finding them? The nurse didn't comment on whether or not there was a good amount, but she did say that she was happy with the sizes as she would not want them to be too big yet.

I'm panicking a bit because with the Menopur I have one water solution for three powder solution, and for the first two nights I didn't get all the water. I wasn't doing it right, I am now just hope it's not too late.

Xxxx

Hey Leah and becky, I had scans on days 3 and 10 of stims (day 10 was today) and will be having collection on what would have been day 12. But the timeline does depend on the person and the clinic slightly. If my scan today hadn't shown enough follicles the right size I would have had a couple of extra days stims and collection on Weds (day 14).

It's hard when you are used to being in control of things, it really is, but you'll ride it out. I pencilled in all the potential options into my diary to try to avoid anything clashing, and just scrubbed things out as things became clearer.

Just done my trigger shot (Gonasi, which I'm told is the same as pregnyl) and I can report that it didn't hurt. I'd heard horror stories about it being agonising and was almost as nervous as I was for my first injection, but I was worried for nothing. A lesson in not listening to horror stories - I'll never learn!

Thank you for all the reassuring comments about egg collection, they have helped me calm down a bit and see sense. My partner will be with me and it is a conscious sedation, so apparently I'll be vaguely aware of stuff but shouldn't feel much. My clinic doesn't offer general anaesthetic. I've also spoken to a friend who had egg collection with only a local, and she said it was not a barrel of laughs but was really not that bad. Apparently that is standard in Denmark, and if people were freaking out and jumping around on the table I'm sure that it wouldn't be!

herewegoagain18 they have me scheduled for another scan Monday and Wednesday and the egg collection Friday but they haven't changed the meds just kept them the same for now x

Hi Kjackson
That's great so another two to go yet before e.c your on the way 😊. With me they said I needed a boost , med increase was only by 75mul (from 150 gonal f)
You clearly have very good numbers to start with. Will be thinking of you Monday .

Xx

Whoops ignore top of last post.!

becky114 · 04/03/2018 00:08

@TryingToStayRational the best of luck for your EC my lovely, will have everything crossed for you. I know what you mean about the control thing. IVF is like limbo because you don't know the outcome. This is difficult for us overly organised slightly control freaks xxxx

TryingToStayRational · 04/03/2018 18:41

Good luck kjackson for scan tomorrow, hope everything looks on track :-) Every one is another hurdle cleared :-)

Kjackson02 · 04/03/2018 19:00

Thanks @TryingToStayRational will update on here afterwards x

csds · 05/03/2018 07:53

TryingToStayRational · 05/03/2018 11:53

Eight eggs all went fine xxx

Kjackson02 · 05/03/2018 12:34

Morning, scan went well I currently have 24 follicles that range in size from 9-20, egg collection has been brought forward to Wednesday as there are 13 eggs at the right size. So exciting but I'm slightly scared and nervous at the same time x

csds · 05/03/2018 13:07

Tryingto glad it went well, fingers crossed for good news tomorrow (I assume you'll get a call to tell you how they are doing.

Ladies that’s great news!! Well done :-)

Kjackson02 How exciting no more scans! Good luck for wed EC!

tryingtostayrational How did you find the EC procedure? We’re you asleep?

I am dreading EC, I’m such a wimp!

Xx

TryingToStayRational · 05/03/2018 15:32

kjackson that’s brilliant news!

Leah It really was absolutely fine. I am such a massive wuss, honestly I am, so if I can do it anyone can. I had conscious sedation, so I wasn’t fully asleep but was aware of what was going on. There were a few ouch bits but only briefly and they really were totally manageable. It was nothing like as bad as my hsg last year, which was so painful I have been traumatised since. I was given 1mg lorazepam last night so had a great sleep, and then another one 2 hours before the procedure, and that really made me so much calmer. So relieved it is over as I’d worked myself up so ridiculously over it but I now know if I have to go through it again I totally can.

herewegoagain18 · 05/03/2018 16:03

Brilliant updates from trying and Kjackson

Hope you are pleased with the amount of eggs trying really glad you found it fine. Yes there are defiantly some ouch moments ( didn't want to put you off by saying for me it was a lot of ouch!)
Hope you got to have your pancakes and felt fine after 😊 fingers and toes crossed for your call xxx

kjackson so pleased for you and it's good in a way they brought egg collection forward as less time to think about it (that's how I felt when they moved mine) . No more scans to worry about.
It is exciting and nervewracking but it will be fine ☺xxx

Snowdayfet · 05/03/2018 18:28

Great news!

Well done rational 8 eggs is great. Glad you’re recovering well.

kjackson that sounds very promising! Are you doing a freeze all cycle with those sorts of follie numbers? You’ll have to be careful of ohss.

Kjackson02 · 05/03/2018 19:37

@Snowdayfet they haven't said it would be a freeze all cycle at the moment but fingers crossed it won't be. Will see what happens Wednesday

Snowdayfet · 05/03/2018 21:58

Cool - well just make sure you buy lots of Powerade and plan to get some rest! That’ll be a lot of fluid sloshing around inside you post EC.

TryingToStayRational · 06/03/2018 10:45

Unbelievably, out of 8 eggs we now have 7 embryos!!!! Trying to stay calm and not get too invested but am so thrilled. Scheduled for a 5 day transfer on Saturday. Also am feeling really well after my collection, am working from home today no problem, so just feeling super grateful and relieved. Hope everyone else has a positive day too.

Leah2018 · 06/03/2018 11:47

trying Oh wow that is really great news, you must be over the moon! Roll on Saturday for you!

Glad to hear you are feeling good after EC too.

Just had my baseline scan and all is going well to start my Gonal f injections tonight - which I’m not looking forward to but I’m sure it will be fine, the buserelin I find so easy now so surely they’re no difference!
X

TryingToStayRational · 06/03/2018 12:04

That’s great news, Leah! I was on merional but it has the same function as gonal-F so I presume it’s similar. I found it ok, I just felt a bit fat and tired, and a bit bored of the injections (twice a day just feels a bit more “seriously it’s time for another one already?” than one), but it’s only for a short time. Before you know it the injections will be behind you! Smile

Kjackson02 · 06/03/2018 17:19

Congrats @TryingToStayRational that's amazing news bet your both so happy x

Snowdayfet · 07/03/2018 09:34

Amazing news rational. You must be thrilled!

My ET is scheduled for 430pm today. I woke up this morning with a horrific cold and cough. Am hoping I can still go ahead...although it’s not ideal to be sick Sad Anyonw know if being ill makes it less likely for an embryo to implant?

Kjackson02 · 07/03/2018 10:52

Just had confirmation that they have taken 17 eggs and are going to do half ivf and half icsi so fingers crossed they fertilise now x
