@AmyL88 sorry to hear about your MMC, I know that feeling of thinking you'll be pregnant by a certain time as you plan your year around it! Hopefully the drs can do something else to help before you have to have IVF. Have they tracked your bloods and done ultrasounds throughout?
I've had two cycles of Clomid but bleeding started on CD16 of my last cycle even though I had a 16mm follicle on CD14 so the gynae has referred us to fertility. We go this Saturday for DHs semen analysis and a consultation on options, feeling quite worried about it. X

AmyL88 · 15/05/2018 19:14

@intrigued2018 I was monitored for the first 3 cycles and had responded well on the 150 dose so they let me carry on by myself. The consultant has said as we already have a child there isn't anything more i can have on the NHS which is fair enough but so frustrating. I have been having acupuncture too but thinking it it worth it!

Oh that is frustrating, was it a full AF which had started on CD16? I wouldn't worry, you are taking a step in the right direction.

intrigued2018 · 15/05/2018 19:28

@AmyL88 was your Clomid all via NHS? Shame they didn't monitor you further. Could you go private to get a second opinion? I was thinking of Acupuncture, did it help in any way at all?

I know it's a step in the right direction but worrying they'll say nothing they can do to help. We've had to do everything privately, my local NHS doesn't help until after 2years ttc and even then they won't fund any IVF etc so after my PCOS diagnosis in December we decided to go private straight away as my cycles are 110days. Yep annoying it was a full AF lasted for 5days. I had some spotting last weekend which got to point I was sure AF (red blood - sorry tmi) had arrived but then she vanished a few hrs later, also my boobs hurt (my running is not fun!) so trying not to get hopes up. As I know it's most likely my hormones playing tricks on me since my Clomid than implantation bleeding. X

AmyL88 · 15/05/2018 19:52

@intrigued2018 Yes the clomid was on the NHS, I also have had a Hycosy so i know my tubes are clear. I know I was lucky to be referred from my GP so quickly.
I almost feel since the MMC I have been consumed by TTC so i want to go easy on myself for a few months. Try and lose some more weight and improve my diet, I may carry on with the acupuncture as for me it had improved my periods as they had become very light from all the clomid!

Oh my, I stress myself over 40 day cycles so i can't imagine how you are feeling with 110 days! That's such a shame you can't get anything on the NHS, it seems like such a postcode lottery to what treatment you can get. So what cycle day are you on now? It could be implantation Grin and the sore boobs were a killer for me whilst on the clomid, my nipples were so sensitive (TMI)

intrigued2018 · 15/05/2018 20:06

@AmyL88 ttc definitely does consume your life, we have also decided to move which has help distract us. That's great that your GP referred you so quickly, you hear so many stories of people taking time out of ttc and then falling so fingers crossed for you.

Last Friday when the spotting started it was CD21. I am thinking it probably isn't implantation, I'll test Saturday before the appt and either way at least we'll have a plan on next steps. X

Chocolillies · 16/05/2018 18:31

Hi guys! Just a background
Pcos Ttc 3yrs 2 mc 7 failed clomid cycles maybe 1 period a year if lucky? Managed to ovulate on 150mg clomid 1500mg metformin and the best decision I made was to start taking Inofolic I’m now 15 weeks pregnant with twins and I honestly wish I started taking it years ago. Had the strongest progesterone result I have ever had! My skin was better less bloated that was only after 2 months 😊 I’ve lurked on these threads for over 3 years and really believe it was the Inofolic that got things going. I wish you all the best in your journeys xx

tremendous · 16/05/2018 20:06

Can I join? I'm 40. And very fat. And I have a hairy face. So depressed by it all. I bought a lumea but it doesn't seem to be working. I can't lose weight no matter how careful I am. So I mostly not careful which must be adding to my issues.

Just to give a bit of hope to those trying to conceive though - I managed 4 healthy babies. My periods were always regular though. I was diagnosed with blood work and ultrasound about 15 years ago. I don't take any medication. It seems pointless going to the doctor.

About 10 years ago I lost all my excess weight and ended up very slim indeed. I still had a hairy face. And I was slim because I barely ate. I could t lose the weight again after having my first child and have been steadily getting fatter since then. Interestingly pregnancy seemed to hold off the symptoms for me so I didn't really gain loads of weight whilst pregnant (around a stone and a half) , I just couldn't lose it after and generally gained more in the aftermath of birth. I think there is a lot not understood about this condition.

tremendous · 16/05/2018 20:07

Oh god I have just realised I posted this on an infertility board not general health. So sorry. And fingers crossed for all of you hoping for a positive this month.

HollyWollyDooDah · 16/05/2018 20:16

@AmyL88 - I have a 7yo DD who has been in floods of tears again tonight because she has no one to play with
It kills me - I feel sick

I want to talk to DP about adoption but I mentioned it before and he sidestepped away from that conversation

Just to be clear DD is not his, I really really want us to have a child or children together but we've been trying 3 years now and nothing atall

Fertility appointments are pointless as they just repeat bloods to tell me no ovulation again and go lose weight

I just want to forget it all and adopt a child similar age to DD so she has someone to play with and we have another to love

Wished id never taken any form of birth control, wish I'd never put on so much weight, wish I'd never given up my dream and settled for shitty ex-H's lifestyle,

Think I need to see my GP

AmyL88 · 17/05/2018 09:47

@Chocolillies Thanks for your positive story. I must admit i have bought some inofolic however I'm hit and miss at taking it! Wish you all the luck with your pregnancy x

@HollyWollyDooDah Go easy on yourself, this is hard but please try and look at the positives, you have one DD already so you know you can do it naturally. Adoption is a massive step and i can understand your DP having initial doubts, maybe try and talk to him again about it if you feel so passionate about adopting? How much weight do you want to lose? I think i am in denial about my weight having an issue. I am 2 stone over weight and my BMI is 29, its a vicious cycle of feeling shit so eating more, then feeling worse for gaining weight! x

@intrigued2018 How are you getting on? Any symptoms?

intrigued2018 · 17/05/2018 11:01

@Chocolillies - I bought infolic but never got around to taking it as it seemed a nightmare to time it in with work etc. Maybe I'll have to be a little stricter and try.

@AmyL88 - nope - unfortunately AF definitely arrived this morning. Only positive is that today is CD28 but I'm seeing it as a fluke. Also not too happy as means I'll be on my period for ultrasound on Saturday - the hosp have said it's fine and says in the booklet that is normal but feels so typical! X

AmyL88 · 17/05/2018 13:29

@intrigued2018 Well i would take AF starting on CD28 as a step in the right direction! It will take your body a couple of cycles on clomid to get used to it i would imagine. Did you have 21 day bloods taken?

intrigued2018 · 17/05/2018 13:42

@AmyL88 - nope I didn't have any bloods at CD21, I haven't been on Clomid this month as after my last AF arriving unexpectedly me and gynae consultant decided I should switch to a fertility consultant so not sure if it's due to last Clomid cycle or it gave my body a kick it needed! Will see what they say Saturday x

xLauraa · 18/05/2018 10:05

@LookingAtTheStars89 thank you, such kind words 💕

He does actually have an underlying problem with hormones. Low test so he was on TRT, which he hasn't had for 16 weeks now.
I'm not ready to see anyone before the 4th whilst I'm recovering anyway I don't think so it's a good timescale.

Op went well! They removed some minor endometriosis from both ovaries and my uterus! Tubes were clear. Just real sore now. Feeling sick often and not able to do a lot but hopefully this won't last long 😣 💜

Chooklass · 18/05/2018 18:06

Hi Ladies, I checked in to this thread a couple of months ago when I got my pcos diagnosis but it was mostly inactive around then. Just popped back in and it seems more chatty in here now! We've been TTC #1for 1year-ish, late 30s. Since I was diagnosed a few months ago I've been doing the low sugar thing and it's been tough! Lost weight and clearer skin but no sign of bfp yet. Nice to find some support and extra info in here 😊

intrigued2018 · 18/05/2018 19:24

Hi @Chooklass,

Welcome to the group, well done with giving up sugar and weight loss! It's so hard being diagnosed with PCOS, are the drs giving u any help. Fingers crossed for a bfp x

gonnabreakmyrustycage · 18/05/2018 21:34

Hi everyone, just got the results for my first ultrasound today and the doctor says it indicates I've got PCOS. We've been ttc for a year and a half so I'm happy I know what's up at last. I'm going to test for androgens soon.
I have no symptoms of PCOS so this has come as a surprise. My periods are very regular etc.
So I wanted to join the thread and would appreciate advice/experiences of people who have been through the same. Was it easy to conceive once you were on medication?

Thank you in advance x

TheOneWithTheBaby · 19/05/2018 06:38

Welcome Tremendous! Glad to hear you were able to conceive four children. I also struggle with weight.

My gyno appointment is coming up fast. I still can't work out if and when I'm ovulating. I thought I was ovulating (based on temp), but then my period started a week after. So if there was ovulation that month, it would have been a short literal phase. Is that a side effect of PCOS? I'll have to discuss all those things with her.

I had to ask for a morning off work, which was a bit awkward as I don't want to tell them about TTC obviously.

Chooklass, so you gave up sugar completely? Wow, well done!

looking4hope · 19/05/2018 16:02

xLauraa so glad to hear the op went well and you're recovering slowly. Hope you'll feel better soon 🤗 Have been thinking of you all week and was waiting for an update. Gald you're back! xx

Chooklass welcome back. Well done for giving up sugar! I know it's hard, but so worth it. For some, diet changes really do work and can bring a BFP, so keeping my fingers crossed for you.

intrigued2018 hope the appointment today went well, have been thinking of you.

gonnabreakmyrustycage welcome to the thread! Glad to hear you're getting investigations done. Even if your periods are regular, you can have a hormonal imbalance that makes TTC a bit more difficult. No positive story from me unfortunately, but it's only my second month of treatment. Have been TTC for nearly two years.

Some news from me: it's become obvious that Clomid is not working for me as my lining on CD14 was under 5mm (which is really bad), so next month they're replacing Clomid with daily FSH injections (Menopur, which I think is also used for IVF). Injecting myself every day will be fun... So this month is wasted as implantation is pretty much impossible with such a thin lining. Getting harder and harder to stay positive Sad

intrigued2018 · 19/05/2018 17:42

Thanks @looking4hope, appt didn't go disastrously but didn't go particularly well.
I also have an autoimmune illness and they don't want to give any treatment until they've done an entire bunch of blood tests to ensure it's not going to make me really ill and to try to prevent me from MC as in their works the "end goal is to have a live baby not just get pregnant" which is very reassuring. The consultant was amazing. It's costing an absolute bomb though as a couple have to be sent to the US 🙈 then back early July to get results and decide on treatment. no ttc before then. Concentrating on the end goal knowing it'll hopefully all be worth it. DH was borderline okay so is now on a strict diet to make sure he is good not just okay 😂 x

looking4hope · 19/05/2018 18:35

intrigued2018 your consultant does sound great, he's taking everything into consideration instead of just getting you to start a treatment asap. You're in very good hands. Strict diet for DH made me lol, I've been nagging mine to pay more attention to what he eats etc. Smile Convinving him to give up his frequent hot baths is not that easy though...

intrigued2018 · 19/05/2018 19:05

@looking4hope yes he was very on the ball and gave a lot of reassurance - said they will do treatment just need to do these bloods first before being able to give us options.
DH is actually fine, he even suggested it. I think he sees everything I have to go through so if he can help in anyway he will. After this weekend I'm also going to try going sugar free - it's going to be hard as I love sweets and chocolate but it'll be worth it. I've gone off the rails this week diet wise 🙈🙈 x

AmyL88 · 21/05/2018 18:05

@intrigued2018 Glad the appt went well, if not what you expected at least you have a plan which for me makes me feel not so lost in the whole TTC thing!

@gonnabreakmyrustycage Welcome to the thread! How regular are your periods? My periods are regular, just a little longer than the 'normal' so can be 35 - 40 days. Unfortunately the medication didnt help me conceive, i have been on Metformin and clomid. I was hoping the clomid was a magic pill but unfortunately not :-( Do they know what medication they will put you on? Have you tried using OPKS?

I am on CD 18 today and had my first flashing smiley on my CB OPKS so i am chuffed my body seems to be doing something by its self without the clomid!

@looking4hope Sorry to hear your lining is so thin. That was a worry of mine with being on the clomid it seems to common. I had acupuncture to help the blood flow and i have to say my periods have been alot heavier than they were, would that be something you would consider?

intrigued2018 · 21/05/2018 18:22

Thanks @AmyL88 - has your dr switched you over to injections now? The fertility consultant said how that maybe the next steps once all the bloods are out the way. Are they daily? It's good we are further along but feels 1 step forward and 10back. Understand the condition a little more now which helps, they think I don't ovulate at all which is why they are 110-120days long as apparently after 3months your lining comes away if no peaks in any hormones and no pregnancy. Today's been a hard day, AF seems to be all over the place since my last Clomid cycle and hormones have been high that I've just had a day of wanting to lay in bed crying stuffing my face Grin x

AmyL88 · 22/05/2018 13:28

No , @intrigued2018 My consultant has said i cant get any further treatment on the NHS as we already have a 5 year old. I am going it alone this cycle and see what happens if i take a break for a few months. I think we will then have to think seriously about going down the IVF route, I am hoping losing weight will help me conceive naturally.
Oh I hear you with the stuffing your face, its hard not to comfort eat when hormones are all over the place isn't it.
