Pjs glad you've come to a decision it can't have been easy. Taking a step into the unknown is always scary but you haven't rushed this, you've clearly given it a lot of thought. It sounds like an amazing move for you and for what it's worth sounds like the right decision to me - your pros cons spelt take it!

Lol wine you'll be well stocked! I've got a shed load of spare needles with my kit - god knows why as I haven't used one yet Hmm

Day 10 of stims today and the bloat is on!

Had my appointment. I was a bit disappointed because I saw a nurse who said they won’t give me Clomid as I’m ovulating (even though not reliably) rather than the doctor and I’ll probably go straight to IUI or IVF and I feel like that’s jumping the gun a bit 😕

On the plus side, I have been referred for a HSG, hopefully next month or the month after if they can’t fit me in over the Christmas period & she did an internal scan and said my uterus & ovaries look fine and no sign of PCOS

My husband’s sperm results were great too, 89 million, 62% motility & 12% morphology so no issues there

Just a bit frustrated as I really want to try Clomid before IUI or IVF. I’m considering looking into it privately whilst we wait but I don’t know if that will be possible? If not, I guess I might have to try Soy again

She also really pissed me off because she said I just need to relax, stop charting & OPKs and it may happen 🙄 I mean, really?! You’d think working in a fertility clinic would teach someone not to come out with that old chestnut!

florafoxtrot · 30/11/2017 11:55

Sorry to hear that your appointment was a bit frustrating Polka - I had the whole "relax" crap from a Doctor after my hycosy - I then told on her to the FC counsellor... who was appalled so they are definitely not meant to say stuff like that.

Would you consider buying clomid independently? I think Jam did that?

Really good news on your DH SA though! And that you've been referred for a HSG. Getting the full diagnostic picture is really important.

Congratulations on the job too PJs - you're going to smash it! Like you say - after everything - you are never going to feel bad if the third cycle is the ticket and you are pregnant!

OverinaFlash · 30/11/2017 11:55

Oooo polkadot I think I would have had a hard time not punching her. You should have asked if the clinic's successes from the 'relax and it will happen' approach are as high as their IUI/IVF success rates Hmm

I just hate the constant assertion that we're all sabotaging our fertility by caring whether or not we get pregnant! Women in war zones get pregnant, I'm pretty sure they are leading a more stressful life than I am!

On the flip side I'm really pleased your DH's SA results are all good and that your scan went well. There really does seem to be a divide on those who think clomid is beneficial and those who don't. How long have you been trying by the way (sorry I can't remember!) as I'm wondering what they will suggest when we head to the fertility clinic if all our tests are clear.

Jamon · 30/11/2017 12:00

Argh that's SO frustrating when you're built up to see a consultant and you see a nurse. No offence to nurses - they are amazing at what they do - but when you need interpretation of your results and a proper plan of action y ou really need the docs.

I was very similar position - apart from the very low sperm morphology - but they wouldn't prescribe me clomid. They also don't fund IUI in my CCG so I had to jump straight to IVF. It does feel a bit drastic.

I did however buy clomid from the Oxford Online Pharmacy and tried it for a few months solo. It sent me loopy but didn't get me pregnant. I paid for a private scan to make sure it was all looking okay in there - but it was right before ovulation so didn't confirm ovulation had happened. Like you - there have been no known problems for me ovulating and I have regular cycles.

How long have you been trying?

OP posts:
polkadotpixie · 30/11/2017 14:00

Yeah I was pretty frustrated, I just said along the lines of 'well, I wasn't stressed when I first started TTC and it didn't happen then so I think we're a bit past the relax & it'll happen stage really!' She probably wasn't impressed but neither was I!

Yeah nurses do a great job but I was expecting to see a doctor so was a bit disappointed really

I have considered getting Clomid privately but I don't really know how to go about it. I think I'll have the HSG first to check if my tubes are clear and if they are then I'll really push for it at my next appointment in February...can I get it privately from a fertility clinic or would I need all their tests first? I can't really afford them unfortunately although a Clomid cycle is manageable financially if they'll prescribe it from a consultation alone

I did look at Oxford Online Pharmacy but they don't seem to be prescribing it at the moment?

HepKestrel · 30/11/2017 14:34

polka oh, you mean i should relax !

ah thats what i've been doing wrong.... Hmm

polkadotpixie · 30/11/2017 17:50

Hep, I know right! Why did none of us think about relaxing before?! So silly of us 🙄

Flash, apologies, I missed your question. We've been trying for 11 months. CD3 bloods normal, 2 x CD21 bloods showed I ovulated one month but not the other & DH's SA also normal. My next step is the HSG

When is your appointment?

geeup · 30/11/2017 20:54

Ah yes - relaxing!! Of course!! ORRRRRR....
I get back on the IVF horse. Third cycle has begun - scratch done and first buserlin injection done. Very glad to be back cycling again as feel one day closer to being pregnant. As feeling so impatient but trying to focus on mini milestones - Christmas, new year etc.
@kwick - hope you are bearing up and stayed away from work to watch mindless telly and snuggle up. Thinking of you xx

Jamon · 30/11/2017 21:23

Polka there may be other places you can buy it? It's tricky as I felt very uncomfortable buying it online but I desperately wanted to try something before resorting to IVF. Some CCGs are trialling it again for women who ovulate on their own. Perhaps push for it at your next appointment?

Well done gee how did you find the scratch? Were you on buserelin before? Wishing you the very best of luck with this cycle - I am willing you to be upduffed at the end of it.

If anyone would like to join the whatsapp group you can dm me - I can add people too xx

geeup · 30/11/2017 21:37

Scratch was quite painful but only for 2-3 seconds then a dull ache like period pain for a few hours. Hopefully it'll be worth it!
I did downreg both the last two times with buserlin. Not sure why but it's just what my clinic do to switch off the ovaries so they can control everything I think.
How are you finding stims? Ok apart from the bloat? Are you drinking lots of milk?

Jamon · 30/11/2017 22:09

Oops forgot about milk! Will have a glass now. Well done with your scratch you are storming through 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼

polka I've provisionally booked an appointment for next Wednesday, assuming DH's results will be back by then, as then it will have been just over a fortnight. This will be with a different gp to discuss referral to the fertility clinic as they said that will be next if all results are normal.

Gee and jam I'm.excited for you both to get going!

kwick · 01/12/2017 06:35

I feel like I have somewhat neglected the thread these past few days.... for some reason I am on Whatsapp all the time!!!! Grin

Thank you all so much for your well wishes - they are mych appreciated Thanks

pyjamas I am so excited for you - having a job that excites and fulfills you is very important.

geeup I went into work yesterday and today I am working from home and may break up the day with household chores

I am afraid I have been rather self-absorbed so will have to just send a general good luck message & hope we get some more BFPs soon!!!

Happy Friyay everyone!

OverinaFlash · 01/12/2017 08:06

Happy Friday ladies!

Kwick massive hugs for you. If it floats your boat, put some Christmassy background music or a movie on, it always helps me.

My Friday positives are:
*Weighed my self this morning and I've lost half a stone in about 4 weeks!
*Had a lovely dinner with friends last night which was great fun.
*Spending the weekend with my family, including going to Warner Bros Harry Potter on Sunday for the second time

passmethewine123 · 01/12/2017 08:22

Flash that's excellent weight loss, good work!! Have you been dieting?

OverinaFlash · 01/12/2017 10:22

wine yes and no. I've reduced my portion sizes and done more exercise and tried to reduce my carb intake, but I've still been having occasional treats, eating proper meals etc. So it feels maintainable. And I don't feel bad if I have a day when I eat lots/whatever I want, have a few drinks etc.

passmethewine123 · 01/12/2017 14:15

Sounds like the perfect way to do it, it's never sustainable when you feel like you're being restricted

OverinaFlash · 01/12/2017 18:23

hopeful how are you doing? Have you done any more tests?

Jamon · 01/12/2017 19:10

Flash that's amazeballs xx

Yes hopeful I hope it's all going well xx

OP posts:
sk1pper · 01/12/2017 20:51

Flash - congratulations on shifting half a stone in 4 weeks, that's really impressive. Whatever you're doing, keep doing it!

Kwick - I hope you are feeling a bit better, I have been thinking about you. I know you'll come back fighting though. Any news on whether they are going to make you skip a cycle before retrying?

Geeup - third time lucky! I hope this is it xx

Polka - Your experience sounds frustrating, I hate it when people tell you to fucking relax. Especially medical proffesionals, it is NOT helpful. The Clomid thing is very controversial, they gave it to me but didn't give it to Jam, even though we're both ovulating fine. It seems that some regions of the UK are willing to give it a go and others wont perscribe it at all. You can buy it online though, and it should be fairly safe if you take it carefully and thoughtfully (I can let you know which days I took it on and the amount if that helps).

Er, sorry this is kind of a whirlwind stop because I need to go out. For those who don't know, I'm without a phone at the moment and now it's not arriving till Monday. So...if you wanted to be added to the WhatsApp group, can you message Jam or Kwick in my absence? Sorry if you've already messaged me.

Have lovely weekends you lovely lot xx

Hopefulbunny · 02/12/2017 14:21

So unfortunately I’ve had a very early miscarriage.
Had my BFP on Monday and the tests started to get lighter/ some negative. I’m now bleeding and all tests are showing negative.
I was so shocked to get a BFP that when I did I panicked and thought oh gosh I don’t know whether I can do this it was obviously Just the shock and then I got really excited and my mind was rushing ahead.
I watched a conception video and its such incredible Journey to get to conception that it made me really sad that it had got that far and then failed.
I feel very flat now it’s all over but In another way though I’m glad I can get a BFP.
We are taking it easy this weekend and trying to do fun things to cheer us up which is nice.
Does anyone know how quickly you ovulate after early miscarriage keen to start ttcing straight away.
Self-obsessed post I know but hope you are all well.

Kathrino · 02/12/2017 14:55

I'm so sorry hopeful Thanks
