Hello. Looking for other ladies (or men!) who are IVF cycling with the Victoria Wing at Nuffield Woking either privately or NHS to share what happens, how it's going, any tips (what's the car parking like?!), to support one another and success stories of course. My stats:
Geeup
Aged 34
Ttc #1 for 22 cycles so far (4 with Clomid)
OH has low morphology MFI (but it's varied)
NHS cycle - first appt 31st Jan with Dr Riddle
One question to get us going, anyone know what the policy is about having 2 embryos put in on first cycle? Thanks!

Morning all,

Congratulations 8um8le8ee that's great news!!

It's good and bad news. We have one which fertilised. But, they were not happy with the quality of the sperm when preparing it for icsi. They picked the best they could find but they think it was very abnormal. So they are going to keep the embryo out in the lab till Monday and then if it survives transfer it on Monday. But if it doesn't survive then they said we need to have a talk about future cycles and the sperm source ie donor.
She said tomorrow it should be 2-4 cells and if not then they know it is game over before Monday even comes.
So it's bitter sweet really. Glad we have one but that one may not survive and if it does it's the only child we will ever have together x

Flamingo44 · 06/07/2017 09:16

Sorry to hear that MrsDarcy. It's always hard for them to predict how everything will go, especially for the first cycle. Will keep everything crossed that your one embryo hangs in there. 🤞🏼

Congrats 8um8le8ee 4 is a great number to have fertilised.

Well done on the trigger Geeup enjoy your injection/pessary free day today!

8um8le8ee · 06/07/2017 09:24

Thank you all.

Good luck mrsdarcy, it's really sad to read that this could be your last chance to have a baby together. I do hope this one makes it through. X

geeup · 06/07/2017 09:57

Oh god darcy. You must be feeling so many emotions. I'll keep everything crossed for you through this time.

Hi Everyone

Just catching up on the thread, I've had a busy couple of weeks with Birthdays and Hen Parties! Now back to no drinking and protein shakes! The joys!

Just waiting for my AF to arrive next week so that I can call and book my scratch, booked in on 20th for my implications appointment.

Congratulations Flamingo on your news! Hope it all goes well at your first scan!

MrsDarcy its positive that you still have one little fighter! I'm keeping everything crossed for you.
I know they are saying they want a further conversation with you if it doesn't work, have you considered an appointment with Dr Ramsey? He works in a number of clinics and has a fab reputation with MF Fertility.

8um8le8ee - Great news and good look with your 4 embies!

Geeup - enjoy today without injections! And good luck for tomorrow!

geeup · 06/07/2017 12:00

Yes I can second Dr Ramsay. He is lovely and very honest - absolutely no upsell with him. After our first few sperm analysis which showed low morphology, I booked in DH to see him. It cost about £200 plus the cost of the tests which were several hundred I think (we chose not to have the DNA one at that point as it was £££ but we may do if needed in future). He then actually ended up telling us to keep trying naturally and do IVF if in 6 mths it hadn't worked. He specialises in much more complex problems like surgical removal of sperm, varicocele etc.
Hopefully that one little fighter embryo is the one but if not, I really think before you consider a donor, I would try and go and see him with all your test results etc. It could be the best money you'll spend.

MrsDarcy4092 · 06/07/2017 12:13

Thank you both. When we started fertility testing and got DH first semen analysis he was referred to urology who then referred to Ramsay so we've already explored that unfortunately. He tried medication which had little effect so he jut said to try Icsi. One of the reasons its taken is so long to start ivf is due to fully exploring the mfi and trying everything to make improvements. If tomorrow's call is not positive then it does look like we've exhausted all options unfortunately

geeup · 06/07/2017 16:46

Oh I'm sorry darcy. Well at least you'll know you've tried everything and no regrets.

MrsDarcy4092 · 07/07/2017 08:17

Omg it's 5 cells today!! Still such a long way to go though but so pleased for now. They want a 5 day transfer to be sure it's normal so I guess the transfer Monday may get cancelled if it doesn't get to blastocyst stage or looks abnormal. So I'm trying not to be too happy about it but it's like another hurdle done.

I was really down yesterday so I'm sorry if i was doom and gloom. How is everyone doing?

geeup · 07/07/2017 08:24

Yayyy that's great news!! Lying here waiting for egg collection twiddling thumbs...

MrsDarcy4092 · 07/07/2017 08:32

Oh good luck geeup!! Thinking of you and wishing you lots of luck. Enjoy the sleep x

8um8le8ee · 07/07/2017 08:39

That's amazing mrsdarcy, well done. Stay positive! X

Good luck geeup.

My 4 have divided, one has progressed more than the others so they are going to wait for transfer on Monday. I feel so good today, I'm not bloated and feel normal.

flamingo do you have any advice on diet or what to do before implantation. Is it still high protein and low carbs and no snacking?

MrsDarcy4092 · 07/07/2017 09:09

Fantastic 8um8le8ee!
I was told protein is less important now but low carb will help the bloat. And my acupuncturist recommended keeping tummy and feet warm until transfer day - not difficult in this weather!
Do you know if the embryologists will call tomorrow? I forgot to ask.
Good luck for Monday.
Good luck to geeup let us know how it goes 😀

Flamingo44 · 07/07/2017 09:18

Great news MrsDarcy! We're all rooting for your 1 embryo! In terms of phone calls from the embryologist I was told no news is good news over the weekend...but I know someone definitely checks them on Saturdays so they might call you? Sorry that's not much help!

Great news for you too 8um8le8ee! I just continued to eat the same and tried to stay quite healthy. Although I did have a glass or 2 of prosecco over the weekend between EC and transfer! I figured it was hopefully my last chance for 8-9 months!

Are either of you doing acupuncture on transfer day? I also found a relaxing podcast about the transfer to listen to. One before transfer and one after. I can send the link of anyone is interested!

Good luck with egg collection Geeup! Hope it all goes well and you don't have to wait too long.

8um8le8ee · 07/07/2017 09:30

Thank you! Great I can go back to some normality then. I am keeping my feet warm and tummy warm which is great in this weather. I'm wearing socks all the time coz I have cold tiles in my bathroom and as I need a wee every half an hour I just keep them on.. hehe.

mrsdarcy I was told that I will get a phone call this afternoon with the time for my Monday appointment. I will ask them if they will call over the weekend. I hope they do, it feels like I have left my babies in the hospital! Silly, I know.

flamingo I'll be doing acupuncture before and after.

MrsDarcy4092 · 07/07/2017 11:25

Flamingo I would love the relaxing podcast please. I've got podcasts of mindful meditation which I'm listening to and it's massively helping me to think about one stage at a time.

Flamingo44 · 07/07/2017 11:44

Here you go MrsDarcy:

It's the pre and post bits I used.

MrsDarcy4092 · 07/07/2017 16:20

Thank you flamingo.
My transfer is all booked in but as we only have one I've asked if embryology can call me Monday first thing to tell me if it's still going ahead. Would rather know straight away than get there and thinking it's happening and be told it's not.
I asked about tomorrow and she said that they check them but they don't call so we will wait and see on Monday morning if it's looking ok or not.
Geeup how did you get on today?

geeup · 07/07/2017 16:26

Hi darcy. I got 6 eggs - same as last time. Obviously would have been nice to have more but you get what you're given right! DHs sample wasn't as good as we hoped - they said count had dropped - but enough to try IVF so just crossing everything now. Having a nice sit in the sun and just trying to stay positive.
Still got everything crossed for you guys too!!

OP posts:
8um8le8ee · 07/07/2017 16:40

Thank you flamingo I'll give them a go too.

All the best and good luck mrsdarcy I hope it works for you then we can carry on this journey together! I will have my fingers crossed for you. X

That's great geeup. It's good they are still good enough to do ivf, I only had the option of ICSI.

I called VW to ask when my appointment was and they told me a time and then they left a message 10 mins later and gave me another time. Confused.com. I'm having acupuncture before and after so need to let them know. They must be having the Friday afternoon feeling.

Have a great weekend all. X

Flamingo44 · 07/07/2017 18:51

Congratulations on the 6 eggs Geeup fingers crossed for a good fertilisation rate. Will they call you tomorrow to let you know even though it's Saturday?

Good luck to you all over the weekend, will keep my fingers crossed. Hope you manage to enjoy a little rest.

MrsDarcy4092 · 07/07/2017 22:15

That's good news geeup although I no there's always disappointment if results get worse. To still do ivf is a good sign though.

I've been out tonight for in laws anniversary. fab music and food but I have the absolute worst PMT. is this normal? Normal cycle wise I'm 6 days away from af so I'm worried my body is gearing up to that despite the progesterone. Can anyone reassure me? My husband has man flu and I literally could kill him if he coughs pathetically once more 😡

MrsDarcy4092 · 09/07/2017 13:22

How is everyone today?

geeup · 09/07/2017 19:31

I got the call yesterday to say 5 of our 6 eggs fertilised which is good. Been enjoying Pimms and BBQ today. Hoping to make it to transfer at 5 days on Wed but we'll see what they say tomorrow. How about you lot?

OP posts:
8um8le8ee · 09/07/2017 20:21

Great results geeup all the best and will keep my fingers crossed for 5 day transfer for you too.

mrsdarcy I have had all sorts going on, gas, constipation, cramps and absolute exhaustion. I had to get lactulose to get things moving even after eating lots of high fibre foods and prunes. I am feeling ok today apart feeling anxious. I'm determined to clean my house so I can relax for the week but I have to keep stopping from being tired. Just the vacuuming and the bathrooms left to do. At least it will keep me occupied.

How are you?
