Hello. Looking for other ladies (or men!) who are IVF cycling with the Victoria Wing at Nuffield Woking either privately or NHS to share what happens, how it's going, any tips (what's the car parking like?!), to support one another and success stories of course. My stats:
Geeup
Aged 34
Ttc #1 for 22 cycles so far (4 with Clomid)
OH has low morphology MFI (but it's varied)
NHS cycle - first appt 31st Jan with Dr Riddle
One question to get us going, anyone know what the policy is about having 2 embryos put in on first cycle? Thanks!

Bee - my consultant is Mr Riddle who we thought was great when we met him. Really straight talking and didn't beat around the bush. Made it clear what his recommendation was (no extras!).
Flamingo - no dates yet but AF due 6th May. Only thing that might change that is I'm not sure if I ovulated - might have missed the surge but didn't spot it on opks which is unusual for me.

Flamingo44 · 26/04/2017 13:04

Hopefully AF will come on time Geeup whether you ovulated or not?! Don't have any experience to add on first cycle after your treatment but I guess it might be quite normal to not ovulate straight away?

If it does come on time you will be on a similar time to me just a week or so behind!

geeup · 04/05/2017 08:32

Just saying hi. Hope you're all doing ok. Has anyone made a new plan? I'm waiting for AF due Sat before I go again for fresh cycle #2.

BeePositive · 04/05/2017 10:03

Hi geeup thanks for checking in. I've also only got one embie frozen at the moment and planning on doing a fresh cycle now to hopefully get a little stash if this (my 3rd) cycle is not successful, so that I would have some reserves for future defrosting and FET cycle. Hope AF appears for you soon and then you can get on with next cycle too!

Kimmy any news on funding for another cycle from Dr Chandra?

Good luck at your implications meeting today flamingo, hope it goes well and you get a treatment plan you are happy and confident with.

Hope the meds are treating you well moggle and your scans are looking good in the run up to your ET next week. Hows it going?

Next steps for me... after getting a BFN this past Monday, heavy AF started yesterday, and I have a follow up meeting with Dr Chandra at the end of May. So the waiting continues...

Hi. The OH and I decided on VW, we are going via NHS and hoping it works for us the first time as with everyone. We have had all of our tests and now waiting for my AMH and OH blood results. I'm currently on microgynon and have been advised to continue until they tell me otherwise. We have our implications session on the 23rd may so hopefully I can come off the microgynon as it's giving me headaches and making me feel tired.

I used to exercise a lot and have been advised to do gentler exercises so have started fertility yoga, walking and swimming. I have changed when I eat as I am a serial snacker so I am eating 3 meals a day with nothing in between. I have been following a low carb high protein lifestyle for about a year now so I am carrying on with but just being more strict.

I have been pregnant before and found out my baby girl had downs, I still wanted to keep her but then further tests showed she had lots of defects and may not survive the pregnancy so we decided to let her go.

I pray to get pregnant with a healthy baby and wish that for all you lovely mummies our there.

Baby dust to all.

Flamingo44 · 04/05/2017 15:25

Hi Everyone,

Beepositive so sorry to hear about your BFN Flowers Hopefully you can get started again quickly.

Geeup hope your AF comes on time (or early!) so you can get going again. Hopefully it'll be second time lucky for you!

Kimmy as Beepositive said, keep us updated on whether you've had any luck with additional funding.

Moggle as Beepositive asked, how's it going?

8umble8ee welcome! All the staff at the VW are so lovely so I'm sure you'll be pleased with your choice! I am NHS funded, 1st and only free cycle too so really hoping that it works...but hoping it works for us all too! You sound very good with your diet and exercise, so well done you! Sorry to hear about your previous loss, hopefully your rainbow baby is made on your first cycle! If you're taking the pill does that mean you'll be on the short protocol?

I had my implications appointment today, all went very well. I'm on the long protocol so start my buserelin injections on the 16th. All seems a bit daunting in the appointment but I'm eager to get going now and see how my body responds to it all (hopefully perfectly!!)

BeePositive · 04/05/2017 15:31

Welcome and thanks for sharing your story 8um8le8ee. So sorry to hear about the loss of your baby girl and of course wishing you all the very best with your IVF plans at Victoria Wing.

I have found the consultants, nurses and all staff there really lovely and hope you get the most out of your treatment too.

I'm sure you are, but always good to drink LOADS of water, to try help with medication headaches. Keep us updated on your VW journey...

8um8le8ee · 04/05/2017 16:16

Thank you Flamingo44 and BeePositive.

I feel very happy and comfortable at VW and so far am pleased with my choice. Thank you RE my diet, I am actually wheat intolerant so it's easier to not eat the naughty carbs. Hopefully we will be blessed with our rainbow baby, even though what we went through was so hard I feel like I had a test run so I feel quite prepared and am actually looking forward to the sickness and giving birth!

Yes Flamingo44 I am on the short protocol.

I'm glad your implications appointment went well and I bet it feels a bit better when you have some dates to work towards. Good luck with the injections. I have done them before as I had my eggs frozen a year ago but I am trying a fresh cycle. I don't think it will be easier the 2nd time but it's just one of those things that we just have to do.

Thanks BeePositive I've just topped up my water bottle and have had 1 litre so far today. Good luck with your journey.

I was looking for a group and so glad I found this one, it makes everything so real and helps so much when other people are going through the same thing and even better when it's under the same roof. Looking forward to your updates and getting to know more of you on here. X

BeePositive · 04/05/2017 16:29

Thanks flamingo and 8um8le8ee. I'm also ready to put BFN behind me and get my next treatment plan to get focussed on real dates.

flamingo, glad to hear your appointment went well and here's hoping to a smooth and positive cycle. You will get into the injections. It's not pleasant, but the needles are tiny and you kinda get used to the routine of it all. Good luck in run up to starting in a couple of weeks.

8um8le8ee good on the water drinking! and yes, let's all keep chatting!

geeup · 04/05/2017 17:41

Glad you found us 8um8le. I find it a great group and I really like knowing how everyone's doing. Makes me feel less alone in the journey especially as all my friends are Uber fertile.

MrsDarcy4092 · 08/05/2017 11:19

Hi everyone,

Sorry it's been ages since I posted. How is everyone?

We had our initial consultation with mr Curtis who advised to increase protein and eat little carbs and don't snack as both affect egg quality apparently. I'm trying both.

We have our implications on 25th may. I'm just on day 23 now so Need to call on day 1 and should be due to start down reg 7th June.

Only problem being my thyroid which latest reading was 3.7. My gp has upped the dose so I'm hoping by the time I start it will be back under 2.5- pleas keep fingers crossed as I don't want any delays 😐

MrsDarcy4092 · 08/05/2017 11:32

Oh and good news that my amh was 22.7 and DH SA had improved count was 0.2 million per ml and the report said "plenty of motile sperm found for icsi"

Woohoo!! Small improvements can make big differences.

So I've started acupuncture and DH has started reflexology.
I've also started an anonymous instagram account if anyone is interested in following I can post the link here?

Flamingo44 · 08/05/2017 11:44

That all sounds really positive MrsDarcy. I'm jealous of your AMH! Mine was only 10 (although I was quite pleased with that as it was only 8.5 last summer) which is low for my age (31).

I too am trying not to snack and to eat a little more protein. It's tough because I'm a serial snacked!! The nurse did tell me that unsalted nuts are an ok snack, just nothing sweet. Apparently the aim is to keep your insulin levels nice and level 🤷🏽‍♀️

Are you having your treatment plan and implications appointment at the same time?

MrsDarcy4092 · 08/05/2017 11:57

Oh that's good to know as I love snacking too so if I get desperate o can have some unsalted nuts. Thanks for that.

I assume so? Although no one has mentioned a treatment plan appointment just booked in the implications for 3 hours and that they expect me to start down reg injections on 7th June. Is the treatment plan another appointment normally?
Where are you in the treatments falmingo? I'm out of touch I need o spend time reading the thread!

Flamingo44 · 08/05/2017 12:19

We ended up having our implications and treatment plan combined, but it sounds like if you'll already have called to tell them when your period comes and they have a few days after that before your appointment I'm sure they'll do it all at once. As they just need that date to work out all the timings and appointments.

I am waiting for day 21 to roll around! I start my down-regging injections on the 16th of May and have my baseline scan booked for 31st. So you'll only be a few weeks behind me.

MrsDarcy4092 · 08/05/2017 12:47

Thanks I will just double check when I call up. I'm expecting day one on Sunday which is also my sisters baby shower - what fab timing!!

Oh so glad to have someone to follow and start at same time. Is it your first time starting ivf?

Flamingo44 · 08/05/2017 13:02

Always the way with timing. At least you're on your way to starting soon, hopefully you won't be too far behind your sister!

Yes it's definitely nice to have this little chat of people all going through the same. This will be my first round so I'm just hoping my body does what it's meant to at the right times!!

MrsDarcy4092 · 08/05/2017 21:59

Hey, so update from me, i saw the dentist today, a new one, and she did a full head X-ray to see my teeth and found a round mass in my right sinus so has referred me to surgical team at the hospital. I've asked her to do it privately to speed it all up but really worried as prob shouldn't start ivf until we know what it is. Feels like One thing after another but best to be careful.
Hope everyone is ok!

BeePositive · 09/05/2017 10:47

Oh no mrsdarcy sorry to hear this. Had you had any pain or leakage to make you aware something was there. Or just from routine xray with new dentist then? A few years back, I discovered a mass in my right sinus also. Turns out it was a tooth!! That had grown up, instead of down, and a mass had formed around it to 'protect' it in my sinus. It was all fine. They had to operate under my lips/above front teeth to go in and remove it. So only internal stitches. And I've had no issues since. I hope it's a simple procedure for you also. Keep us posted. Not nice to have additional concerns when you are in the IVF roller coaster.

MrsDarcy4092 · 09/05/2017 13:46

Thanks beepositive that is reassuring. It was just a routine X-ray I've had no pain or anything so fingers crossed it's easy to sort as I really don't want to delay ivf. I've managed to get an appointment with specialist this Thursday evening so hoping they just tell me it's a polyp or something and send me away!!

It sure is a rollercoaster. I will go on the pc tonight so read back and see how everyone is doing. The thread moves fast!

8um8le8ee · 09/05/2017 13:48

Hi all. It's seems like we are all just waiting for the dates to roll on. It's hard to not wish our lives away. I have been doing yoga and meditation to prepare my body and mind and live in the present moment. It's been fun catching up with friends and family.

mrsdarcy my implications appointment is on the 23rd may so we aren't far sort with our dates but I'm on the short protocol. I haven't had a treatment appointment booked in either so maybe it is all at the same time. I hope all is ok with your dental appointment, I am terrified of the dentist so haven't been for a very long time.

flamingo44 your getting closer to your next steps. Good luck! You mentioned you are nhs funded. I read that the drugs have to be paid for, is this true and do you know roughly how much it is? I am exempt from paying for prescriptions as i am on thyroxine but not sure if that is applicable with ivf.

Flamingo44 · 09/05/2017 14:06

MrsDarcy so sorry to hear about your dentist trouble. Really hope it's nothing to serious and can get sorted quickly so it doesn't affect your ivf dates.

8umble8ee88 no one has mentioned any charge for drugs and I have already been given 2 bottles so I'm pretty sure they're included in the funding. You could definitely ask during your implications appointment to double check though?! Lots of luck for when you get started.

moggle · 09/05/2017 14:50

Hi all, everything's going ok here, we're on holiday in Wales which is really nice and relaxing as have nothing to do and can go to bed early and nap when/if DD does. Lounged about in nice warm lagoon swimming pool earlier and now watching lion king with a cup of tea :-)
Transfer is on Monday so am in nice gap - buserelin injections have finished and don't start cyclogest suppositories til Thursday evening. Lining was nice and thick at my scan last week. Have signed consent form to have two transferred , eek.

geeup · 09/05/2017 14:59

That's exciting moggle.

Re the drugs bumble, in NHS and all my drugs were included so no charge to me

Hi ladies,
Hope everyone's getting on OK?
I'm now seriously considering IUI before going down the IVF route. Anyone had or know anyone that did IUI @ Nuffield Woking or know a bit more about it? I'm really keen to try up to 3 cycles starting ideally starting in July, but I'm yet to get DH on board (he's reluctant to try anything outside natural conception) but I'm so fed up with month after month of disappointment and this has given me renewed hope motivation x
