IVF Cycle buddies November/December

I'm due to start the Short Protocol when AF arrives next week and I wondered whether anyone else was in the same situation and would like to join me? I'm pretty nervous about everything so would love to offer some support to others in the same situation and get some advice and support as well. You don't have to be on the Short Protocol of course - any other protocols welcome too!

To introduce myself am 41, been ttc for over 2.5 years and in that time had at least 1 chemical pregnancy and a miscarriage at 6 weeks. We get one chance on the NHS where we live and don't know if we'll be able to afford another go if this doesn't work so am feeling the pressure!

Cityzen so sorry to read that you’ve had an early miscarriage. Thinking of you, and hope that the future planning continues to be helpful.

MrsCrab – exciting that you’ve got some good embies, and are going to that going to a day 5 transfer. Best of luck for tomorrow.

AFM, I got myself in a better headspace Friday night and Saturday. My two embies made it to day 3, and are now nicely nestled inside me! One looks very good, and one is a little more "raggedy" apparently – hence the Drs thought it was best to transfer the two to give best odds. Very happy seeing them on screen, and now am going to try to enjoy being PUPO and leave google well alone!

LoPI congratulations on being PUPO! Are you working this week? I hope you can enjoy it and keep everything crossed for you xxx

Thanks goodthings - I am working this week, but I'm lucky in that I'm working from home Monday and Tuesday so I have a bit more time to get over the tenderness I'm still feeling from EC. How are you getting on with the tricky centrocide needles?

LoPI hopefully your embies will have implanted by the time you have to go into work .

Good luck for scan today liberte, I'm so nervous!

AFM as I'm so nervous that I haven't responded well again I messed up my cetrotide injection this morning and out the wrong needle on to mix so then the injection needle was blunt so had to use one from a new box. If needed do you think I'll be able to use same needle again tomorrow? Xxx

Don't worry about the injection, I had an appointment yesterday for the nurse to administer mine. So she wanted me to do it myself which wasn't a biggy coz it's the same as the merional injection. Then she started faffing with it and when she told me to inset it half the liquid calm out and dropped all over my jeans and the floor!! I asked her if it was ok that the majority of it didn't enter my body but she wasn't fussed at all! I got to do mine at 10am every day now which is not great as il be at work!

I have my appointment for the day 7 scan. Don't worry il pooping myself too!! Don't know what to expect and have such a strong feeling that it hasn't worked!!! Xx

Goodthings - I would use new needles each day for hygiene reasons. You should have enough to do that until you have your next scan, and then you can get some spares from the nurse. (that's what I did when I broke one of the needles)

Mrscrabtree good luck for this afternoon.

AFM just had scan and have 6 follicles of the right size (3 on each side) one of the ones on right will be my cyst and one of the ones on the left is far too big so they can't count it so in all I have four follicles in the running with smaller ones which don't hold much hope. Feel a bit disheartened but I'm triggering tonight and having EC Wednesday! Xxx

Goodthings I have read about people getting 4 or less and still going on to success so don't worry its better than not responding at all. Good luck with triggering tonight!

AFM the clinic don't know what to do with me.. I have over stimulated and the nurse didn't seem impressed at all. They knew this because I have PCOS so there is a high chance of OHSS so they should have put me on a lower dose to start with. Anyway she saw 27 follicles with 14 over 10mm. Didn't give me exact figures, she said that she needs to speak to a doctor and will call me today to tell me what new dose to take as they will now need to lower it however there is a high chance that they will have to cancel the cycle or they might have to collect and then freeze if the embies make it that far and as far as I can see not a lot make it to actually be frozen.

So I am the opposite to you Goodthings but still lost all hope.

Mrscrabtree how was ET?

I had my first scan today. The doctor didn't really talk to me at all so no real idea what is going on but they have upped my dose of fsh, so three injections tonight as start cetrotide too.

Next scan is before work on Weds. Hopefully rushing around and timing will work ok. I find it so awkward with work.

Oh sending you positive thoughts Goodthings and liberte - have my fingers permanently crossed it will go your way.

My consultant seemed upbeat at transfer but I always find it hard to be optimistic. Still, I have one blast on board which is good and so here's hoping it decides to make itself at home feeling v emotional.

It's such a stressful process, one hurdle after another. People who've not been through this have literally no clue do they. My (slightly younger) friend the other day said she had just found out that soon no one will get IVF free on the NHS and was shocked she might have to pay for it so was like, oh maybe I had better start trying then. As if she thought IVF was an easy fall back option! FML!

Lemon how long have you been stunning for? Hopefully with an increase there will be more to talk about at your next scan? When is that booked for?

Congratulations on being PUPO mrscrabtree, how many did you have transferred? Do you have any frozen?

Congrats mrscrabtree - Fingers crossed for a sticky one! Agreed it is so stressful and emotional. Had to grit my teeth when the doctor said to avoid stress!

I have been stimming 5 days so not long. There seemed to be quite a few follicles but not sure if upped dose to get more or increase size. Who knows.

Congrats on being PUPO MrsCrabtree and great news you have a blast on board! I know exactly what you mean when it comes to insensitive people. I have now started giving sarcastic comments back. Like one of my friends was moaning about her little one and complaining she didn't have everything her way so I just said "Well we can't have everything in life otherwise "moaner" wouldn't be in the dictionary." It made me feel better afterwards. Good luck for the rest of your 2ww, be good to yourself. xx

Lemon I have the opposite to you and Goodthings and tbh I don't know what is better. I hate this journey and everything about it so I just hope we all get what we want at the end of it.

AFM the hospital didn't call so I ended up calling them myself! Spoke to the nurse who did my scan today and she said she spoke to the doctor who said to remain on my current dose and not decrease!! To which my husbands answer was "WTF Are they crazy?!" I went for acupuncture and spoke to the acupuncturist about it and she also thought they would decrease the dose. Anyway I said, isn't there a risk of OHSS if i keep to the same dose? She said well we are seeing you on Wednesday so we will see what happens then and we are looking at EC on Friday.
I think what she was trying to say was if you are going to get OHSS you will get it regardless. So now I am trying to search ways to reduce OHSS!

First cetrotide injection tonight. It really hurts! Not impressed.

No lemon they just said they are seeing me tomorrow so it's not a concern. I wish I had their confidence.
I took today off work coz I'm just feeling really tired. I guess il see what they say tomorrow. My DH thinks they kept it the same because the follicles were above 10mm but not quite there so he said they are probably thinking keep the dose the same but bring EC closer ie Friday instead of Monday.

It's all happening now isn't it? How are you managing with the cetrotide Lemon?

How are you coping with the 2ww LoPI? I'm only 2 days in and it's the absolute worst! We were v lucky to have one frozen tho so I am telling myself we have a back up plan.

Thank you everyone for thinking of me. It really means a lot. Did a test this morning and definitely negative. Feel sad but knew it would be negative so am just focussing on appointment after Christmas and then a start probably in late January.

Lots of exciting news on here. Congrats on being PUPO Mrs Crabtree and LoPI. I hope your 2ww go very quickly and there is exciting news at the end for you both.

Liberte - hope things are OK for you and you aren't feeling too bad today.
