I'm due to start the Short Protocol when AF arrives next week and I wondered whether anyone else was in the same situation and would like to join me? I'm pretty nervous about everything so would love to offer some support to others in the same situation and get some advice and support as well. You don't have to be on the Short Protocol of course - any other protocols welcome too!

To introduce myself am 41, been ttc for over 2.5 years and in that time had at least 1 chemical pregnancy and a miscarriage at 6 weeks. We get one chance on the NHS where we live and don't know if we'll be able to afford another go if this doesn't work so am feeling the pressure!

Thanks Goodthings, good idea and good to hear it worked for you. I have been doing those things a little but now I might double my efforts. I'm going to try upping the protein in general too and do my hypnotherapy visualisation... I'll try anything!

Hope you're all alright this evening x

LoPl · 25/11/2016 08:55

How did the scan go goodthings
Sorry your last one was disappointing MrsCrab - but keep in mind that the number of follicles don't necessarily correspond with number of eggs....
How you getting on Cityzen.

I have my next scan tomorrow morning to see how I'm responding to the meds... here's hoping everything is doing what it should be in there.

Goodthingscome2those · 25/11/2016 09:34

Hi LoPI, scan is this afternoon and I'm dreading it but trying to be positive and think I can hopefully start injections soon Smile.

How many days will have been swimming for tomorrow? Really hope you're responding well and can move on to next step - exciting!

Mrscrabtree, any more news? I hope you're ok.

Cityzen, any sign of AF yet? Xx

Mrscrabtree · 25/11/2016 11:39

Hi guys, scan this morning was ok thanks. Left ovary still in a bad place but today's nurse seemed more hopeful that they will be able to squish it into a better position at EC. Follies growing slowly, but definitely better than last cycle so I'm grateful for that. Fingers crossed for the weekend - I'm drinking ridiculous amounts of milk!!

Goodthings - Really good luck for this afternoon, let us know how it goes.

LoPI - fingers crossed for your scan tomorrow. How are the injections going? Anyone else get a weird rash from buserelin?

Cityzen, how are you?

LoPl · 25/11/2016 13:08

Sending positive vibes your way goodthings. Let us know how you get on. And Mrscrab that sounds more promising. Fingers crossed.

It'll be 9 days for me tomorrow, so I hope the scan shows the stimms are working. I'm still finding the Centocide needles awkward. OH stabbed himself with one this morning trying to help - so it's not just me! I'm also getting a small localised red itchy patch where I inject these ones. Is that similar to the one you are getting from Burselin Mrscrab?

you doing Ok cityzen?

Have a good weekend all. xx

Goodthingscome2those · 25/11/2016 15:01

Hi ladies, just had my scan and the nurse see a cyst of 1.9 cm so I've had to have blood test to see if it's producing hormones. If it is then I have to either wait for another period or have small op to remove it. If it's not then I can start tomorrow and fave it drained at egg collection. I'll get a call tomorrow to tell me either way. Why is nothing ever easy?!?!?!Sad

Hope your scan goes well tomorrow LoPI keep us posted and everyone has a lovely weekend. I'll jet you know what they say after call tomorrow! Xxx

Mrscrabtree · 25/11/2016 15:57

Oh ffs Goodthings, how annoying for you. Am keeping fingers crossed that it'll be something they can do at EC, you must be so keen to get going. Nothing is ever simple is it?

LoPI - my rash isn't itchy and it just seems to be red raised bumps where I've done the injections. I've still got the ones from the last round too (although a bit less). Just unsightly really. Weird. Sorry to hear about yours, have they recommended any cream or anything for it? And those needles sound like a right pain, your poor DH! Sending good vibes for tomorrow.

LoPl · 25/11/2016 18:02

Oh bloody cysts! Hope it gets sorted goodthings - it's a horrible waiting game isn't it?

Haven't spoken to nurse yet about the rash - will do a scan tomorrow.

Goodthingscome2those · 26/11/2016 10:01

Morning, just had the call and the cyst isn't producing hormones so I can start gonal f tonight Smile, next scan Monday 5th December.

LoPI hope your scan goes well today keep us posted.

Mrscrabtree, how you doing when is your next scan?

Cityzen, hope everything ok with you xxx

Mrscrabtree · 26/11/2016 11:45

Excellent news Goodthings! On with the stims! Star

My next scan is Monday. Keeping everything crossed I'll be able to go ahead with an EC for Weds. Feeling totally wiped out today, not sure if it's the drugs or work or both but I'm gonna get some good rest this weekend.

Good luck today LoPI and good vibes to you Cityzen X

Mrscrabtree · 27/11/2016 15:52

Hope everyone's having a good weekend. So I'm mildly freaking out that I might have o'ed early somehow because I'm getting all kinds of symptoms that normally signal ovulation for me (ovary twinges, sore nipples!), and my tummy feels less full than yesterday Confused. I'm trying to tell myself that it's just side effects of the meds, but I also know it can happen... have any of you had this before?? I wish I could stop worrying something else is going to go wrong Sad

Goodthingscome2those · 27/11/2016 18:41

Hi Mrs crab, I've had a lovely weekend thank you and hope you have too?

I can't really help although I know on my last cycle I did have quite a bit of cm which I read was normal because of all the follies etc. When is next scan?

I've got to contact clinic as this time they've been so unorganised so it's a good job I know I Jared scan etc as they hadn't done that until I asked and I only have enough Gonal f to last me 10 days and last time I had to stim for longer, feel like this is all a bit rushed and going to go wrong it trying to stay hopeful!

Hope everyone else is doing well? Xxx

Mrscrabtree · 27/11/2016 21:29

Thanks for your reply Goodthings. Scan tomorrow morning so we will see. I'm just not hopeful!

Gosh it's a bit worrying when you have to manage the clinic isn't it Hmm. As if we need that on top of everything else..! I only realised today that they've forgotten to send me the trigger injections so assuming things haven't gone tits up I will have to ask for some at the clinic tomorrow. How are your stim injections going?

How was your scan LoPI?

Cityzen74 · 28/11/2016 08:42

Hi all

Sorry for being absent these last few days.

Goodthings - glad to hear that you could start treatment and I hope things are going well.

Mrs Crabtree - good luck for your scan today. Will be thinking of you. Also hope you get your trigger injection!

LoPI - how are you getting on?

As for me - AF didn't arrive and so I did a test and it was positive. Obviously was really pleased but this morning I've got brown spotting just like I get before AF starts so think that's all over. I know a lot of people get brown spotting and it's OK but I feel deep down that AF will arrive in the next day or so. I feel devastated and a bit silly for ttc the month before IVF. I am also annoyed that I could have started and I had lots of holidays booked and it all would have fitted in well with work and everything. We've even got some time away booked the week before Christmas and now we're going to have to go feeling like this instead of in the 2WW which is what we had planned.

Anyway, sorry for the me me me post. I really wish you ladies all the very best and I hope you get positive results. I will be still lurking for news if that is ok with you all?

Goodthingscome2those · 28/11/2016 09:46

Hi cityzen, nice to hear from you and that's great news that you did get a BFP naturally, I really hope the spotting is nothing to worry about and all goes well but I understand you always think the worst, please keep us posted and really hope it works out for you.

LoPI how was scan on Saturday?

Mrscrabtree, good luck today keep us posted xxx

LoPl · 28/11/2016 13:20

Hi all,

Cityzen - I really hope that it is all very good news for you.

Goodthings - yay for starting stimms! And good on you giving them a kick up the bum re getting organised.
Mrscrab - your post resonated so much with me this morning. I too was worried I had "peaked" due to "signs", and I have def been more emotional the last couple of days. Hormones, hey?

But, anyway, after a 'nothing-much' scan on Saturday, I had another this morning - and they've decided Thursday is EC day. I think I have about 5/6 follies in the running (out of 12). I was a bit worried about this number and nervous that suddenly EC day is in sight - but when I just told OH on phone, he was excited so that's made me feel much better.

Goodthingscome2those · 28/11/2016 13:58

That's great news LoPI, I think on my first cycle I had similar follies and got 13 eggs, so fingers crossed everything will go well. Do you know what time trigger is yet?

It's all getting very exciting! Xxx

Mrscrabtree · 28/11/2016 17:56

Oh great news LoPI! Exciting! It's all got very real for me too, my EC for weds literally just got confirmed. Had to have blood test to rule out OHSS after scan this am, could have been cancelled if e2 too high, but is ok thank god. Was a v tense day. Turns out all those o symptoms are high estrogen. Is all so weird. Last time poor responder, this time possible OHSS Confused

Cityzen - oh I have my fingers crossed for you! Let us know!
Goodthings - injections going ok? How you feeling? X

Goodthingscome2those · 28/11/2016 19:31

Wow what a turnaround mrs Crabtree. What time is trigger tonight/egg collection Wednesday? Did they say how many follies you have?

Cityzen, how are you feeling?

Injections are ok just really wish we had windows to see how everything was coming along on there. I've started with my hot water bottles and milk from day 1 of stimms so hoping that helps!

Sending lots of good luck to you both for egg collections this week Smile xxx

Mrscrabtree · 28/11/2016 20:43

Am 100% in favour of womb windows Goodthings!! I took your advice on the milk and hot water bottles and I defo think it helped, thanks - I'm sure it'll work again for you too.

Trigger at 11pm tonight. They said 20 (!!) follicles but a lot of them not very big. I think maybe about 8 mature? Very happy with that especially after last time. Despite this my brain is now looking for the next thing to worry about, and it has decided that none of them will fertilise, and that must be the reason we've never had a positive preg test Hmm shut up brain!

Anyone watching that programme tonight? I'm taping it x

LoPl · 28/11/2016 20:57

Eek MrsCrabb - best of luck for trigger tonight, and wow what numbers! I'm going to drink a pint of milk now, and hope some of those little ones catch up!

I did just switch the programme on - but not sure its a wise move.....

Goodthingscome2those · 28/11/2016 21:15

Mrscrabtree 20 follies is amazing !!!!!

I did watch the programme but was mainly about private clinics and Extra tests/stuff you can do to which they tell you improve be chances but there is no scientific proof it does and costs a lot of money. Glad I watched it as if this cycle fails I will be going private but won't be having any of the things they showed! Xxx

Mrscrabtree · 28/11/2016 21:46

Oh it sounds interesting. If no luck on our NHS goes will go private too so def want to make sure we don't get ripped off. So hard though isn't it when you are desperate. I think of all the money I've already spent over the last 3 years on various sh*t Blush

Thanks, yes I am delighted and surprised re follies. Hopefully the quality is ok. They are sending encouraging messages to all of yours! Grin

Cityzen74 · 29/11/2016 09:04

Mrscrabtree - hope the trigger went OK. Good luck with EC - very exciting.

Goodthings - hope the hot water bottles and milk do the trick.

LoPI - good luck for your EC on Thursday. not long now!

I watched that programme last night. We have paid for the machine where they do the time lapse photos of the embryos. DH didn't want to but as we only have 1 go I said I'd like to do it to give us the best chance. Of course I don't know what's going to happen with that now but if we do have a go at IVF in the New Year I'm still happy to go ahead with it (although DH now thinks we should get our money back!).

Thanks for asking about me. I am still spotting. It's not red yet and in fact it seems to have slowed down so feel confused. Am going to try and get to the doctor in the morning. Will do another test before I go. If negative then have to ask her to refer me back to the clinic but I will also ring the clinic and beg them to just put me back on list for January because of my advanced age (will be 42 then!). If test still positive I might see if she will do a blood test and refer me for a scan (but I suppose I'll have to wait until nearer 6 weeks as they won't see anything before then I don't think).

Hope everyone has a good day. Is gorgeous weather here - I like it sunny and cold!

Mrscrabtree good luck for tomorrow, what time are you booked in for? Be sure to key us know how you get on, keeping everything crossed.

LoPI good luck with trigger tonight! How are you feeling?

Cityzen, are you ok? Has spotting completely stopped now? I hope you're ok.

AFM I'm struggling this time, I seem to be really achey already and only had two injections I don't remember feeling like this so early on and in my left side which didn't respond at all last cycle and they had trouble even finding it at the scan. Just hope all is for a good cause! Xxx
