I'm on 2nd cycle of clomid (50mg CD2-6) and am on CD7 now - anyone else out there the same?!

Ah the internet cheapies aren't sensitive at all, even though they claim to be. I got a stronger line on a FRER at 15dpo than I did on a sensitive internet cheapie at 17dpo! Hopefully it's not AF, a lot of early pregnancy and AF symptoms are the same.

Footy1 · 07/12/2016 13:47

I tested also but with second urine. Bfn also doom. Xmas Sad

Still no AF, but I still feel it's on its way. Temps on the decline still. 17dpo for me, so hoping you get to extend your LP Malbec like mine! Wowza's.. Longest ever

Footy1 · 07/12/2016 13:53

Also used an IC.

Spoke to gp to see if they would do bloods to see if I ovulated. They said a Big fat no! They said if I get to 35 days to take the norethisterone that I have.
The GP also mentioned that although the gynae said I could have another 3 months but would need to get GP to prescribe, GP said no not something they can do on Nhs. Would need to get it elsewhere or on a private prescription. So now what do I do?
Grrr

MmmMalbec · 07/12/2016 14:27

I had a progesterone test with an online company called medi checks. Might be worth looking at? Sounds very stressful. Is there a fertility clinic you could go to instead of your GP? Is a private consultation an option?

MmmMalbec · 07/12/2016 14:28

I had the private progesterone test because my GP wouldn't do it either Angry It wasn't that expensive though. I'll get you the link if you're interested.

Footy1 · 07/12/2016 15:55

Thanks Malbec. No definitely can't afford to go private. I found an online one called - Oxford online pharmacy. They also sell clomid and prog pessaries. If you have a different one then yes please. They also do blood tests.
I called the gynaecologist at hosp after speaking to gp and he said they can only prescribe for 6 cycles on Nhs. However; I've been ok on it and a good weight so not a problem to have another 3. He annoyed the GP wouldn't prescribe it. He wouldn't suggest where else to buy it apart from private. He did say if I walked into fertility clinic now the doctor would give me 6 months supply so obviously he thinks it would do no harm. Not sure if I will or not, but I wasted 2 cycles of it so am kicking myself. I have one cycle left once AF starts. Hopefully I won't need anymore.

Figroller · 07/12/2016 17:44

So sorry for the bfn's Footy and Doom. I totally understand how crushing that can be, especially when you allow yourself to have a little hope with all the right symptoms.

I am shocked you are not allowed a progesterone blood test Footy, surely you need to know if the clomid is working. Otherwise what's the point? Also regarding the clomid prescription, I do pay for mine but it is classed as self funded on the nhs. It's about £12 for 30 x 50 mg tablets. But are they saying they won't even give you a prescription? My prescription wasn't from my gp though, it's from the fertility clinic.

Nothing to report here, AF on the way out and still taking my clomid.

Hope everyone else is ok?

doomkittycleo · 07/12/2016 17:53

I was told that they don't prescribe more than 6 months due to the risk of ovarian cancer and also there is very little evidence that it will work if it doesn't help after 6 cycles.

Footy1 · 07/12/2016 23:10

I've Heard different stories from different gynaecologists doom. Mine seemed to think it wasn't an issue -his theory on this is the risk of developing ovarian cancer gets higher with age. Ovarian cancer is rare in women younger than 40, and a high percentage of women on clomid are of an older age therefore increases the risk. He said after a year it's not good to use clomid. Why can't there be a guarantee med for a baby? :(
Fig, yes GP adamant not even give me a prescription. If I go down that route, I'll just have to pay extra and get a prescription online.
I'm not sure it's good for me anyway as my cycles have been unpredictable. I have no idea what is going on.
Can't find my cervix today? EWCM ? Crazy! Maybe whoever said about clomid can do odd things to temps is right? Maybe I haven't even ovulated yet?! Bad cramps again..
Yet to think I was so close when I got my cp, feels a bit unfair :(

How often do u dtd fig?

MmmMalbec · 08/12/2016 06:28

I've heard of the oxford online pharmacy from a few women who were trying to get progesterone pessaries. The link I have just does blood tests but I'll get it you anyway. I've heard that the chance of it working is highest in the first six months but some people take it for up to a year. There are a few women on a thread on the conception board who have done.

It's very frustrating Footy that you're not being monitored when your cycles are unpredictable. My consultant said the whole point in clomid was to regulate your ovulation. Will they not consider doing monitoring or is your area one that doesn't offer it to anyone? It seems quite unlikely that your LP is going to be above 16 days? Maybe just let this cycle happen naturally and then next cycle take the clomid and track yourself and then get an online blood test at 7dpo to be sure? It would be ridiculous if you've used up all the tablets you can get on the NHS and then not actually been regularly ovulating Angry

I'm 4/5dpo today so still early days. Time is going fast.

Have you had more side effects this time Fig?

Did anyone find they still had side effects well after finishing the tablets? I've had a few hot flushes and seem to be having more uterus twinges this TWW which I'm guessing are clomid related!

doomkittycleo · 08/12/2016 07:29

This is the NICE guidance. I don't know about private, but NHS Drs see these as the gold standard for care and will rarely deviate from it.

Clomid anyone else?
doomkittycleo · 08/12/2016 07:31

Although it does suggest monitoring with ultrasound for the first cycle and mr Dr hasn't done that 😕

MmmMalbec · 08/12/2016 07:44

This is the leaflet from my clinic....

I do think not scanning you at least the first cycle is really unfair because you might be wasting your time taking the clomid. It's also really dangerous because ovarian hyper stimulation syndrome can be potentially life threatening and without scans you have no idea how your body is responding to it. It's crazy as well if you use up all your clomid cycles and then they move on to more expensive and invasive treatments without even being sure that it's worked. I don't know, I just don't think that's good care at all.

Clomid anyone else?
Footy1 · 08/12/2016 07:51

Thanks for that doom & Malbec.
I live in Kent and GP said no treatment unless I didn't have any children. I have 2.

I don't hold much faith in them tbh. He offered me bloods which came back high fsh of 60!! after just coming off pill. He told me bluntly I was too late and in menopause. I was so upset... Went back a week later for 2nd opinion after googling fsh (which can b considerably high after c/pill). He bluntly said no and referred me to consultant at hosp to put me on hrt! Was so shocked. Went for appt, explained I wanted another blood test as desp trying for another child. He was lovely and sympathetic and said he will repeat test twice and do ultrasound etc..

Fsh level on second test was 8! And 3rd test was 7.9. Therefore I was not in menopause at all. He then offered me prescription of clomid for 6 cycles to regulate ovulation. So was fuming with GP. Think I'll have to get it privately.

Footy1 · 08/12/2016 07:55

So the plot thickens...

Cervix disappeared?!
Tons of EWCM last night
Cramps and twinges in ovaries which felt quite bad & intense at 2-3am
And a raised temp today.
Tingly nipples and achy boobs

So maybe not 17dpo.. ??? Maybe still only cd 22 I only just ovulated?? Wtf?

Footy1 · 08/12/2016 08:03

Malbec they did do a 7 & 21 bloods on first cycle of clomid. Which suggested I ovulated. The first couple of cycles was like text book.. Seems to be after the CP, body had gone a bit squiffy. Yes agree, that monitoring should be done as I really think I had a chance as it clearly worked for 3, but have now wasted the last few on stupid cycles that I didn't ovulate. I'm going to ride this crazy cycle out naturally now.. See how long till AF comes and enjoy Christmas with my prosecco and baileys Xmas Smile

Got one cycle left which I'll probably hold off and take in Jan let things settle down. And will track it properly with those blood tests myself.

bummymummy77 · 08/12/2016 11:49

My doc says at my age (39) three is the maximum number of cycles I'll be allowed to do. My temp is way below my baseline again today at 7dpo so I think I'm going to go to a different doctor before I start the clomid. It seems hormone levels are my issue as I'm definitely ovulating.

I can't believe I'm the one finding these things out and making the decisions rather than a trained ob gyn. Angry

Footy1 · 08/12/2016 12:47

Hey bummy, a dip at 7dpo is normal. It can be either implantation or a surge/drop of hormones around then. Most of my cycles dip either at 5/7/9. I wouldn't worry. But I know what u mean, we shouldn't have to do all this running around they should check all this out. It's made me really wish I could train as a fertility person and offer these tests and scans. Can u imagine how helpful that would be for every lady who desp wants children.

Hey good news.. Literally just got a letter today from the hospital with enclosed prescription for clomid 3 months 100mg to collect at the hospital. Signed by my gynaecologist. My GP must have called them yesterday. I burst into tears!! Thankyou God! :)

bummymummy77 · 08/12/2016 12:52

Really Footy?! I dipped at 4,6 and 8 and never normally do. Glad to hear it's not the awful thing I thought it could be.

I'd love to train too. This woman is meant to be an expert and prescribed me clomid without even asking if I'd been charting!

Congrats on your prescription. Can I ask why you're on 100mg? I was prescribed 50. Will that be enough?

bummymummy77 · 08/12/2016 12:54

I did have a tiny bit of bleeding yesterday at 7dpo but trying hard not to get excited. I will. I'll have worked myself in to a frenzy by next week and have just ordered a five pack of posh pregnancy tests on Amazon.

Figroller · 08/12/2016 16:23

Glad you have been given your prescription now footy. I bet you feel much more relaxed and hopefully get this cycle out the way and things will settle down.

Yes Malbec definitely more side effects on the higher dose. It's the hot sweats that are the worst for me. I find they continue after I have finished taking the clomid too. Lots of twinges and cramps as well which carried on all through the cycle. Glad the tww is going quickly for you.

Good luck bummy Smile When do you plan to test?

I am on cd 5 now, had some cramps and a nagging pain in my right side, not sure if that's related. Feeling very emotional as well which is a new one.

Footy1 · 08/12/2016 20:57

My boobs hurt this cycle more than previous.
Definitely seen a reduction in CM and I'm so moody!! Temps are much higher also.

Bummy, I wasn't ovulating after coming off pill so the gynaecologist thought I just needed a little extra oomph with 100g. I'm same age as you!

Footy1 · 09/12/2016 12:29

For those who don't ovulate regularly.. Does your wee smell? It's not unpleasant but just really strong smell close to asparagus or sugar puffs!

MmmMalbec · 10/12/2016 06:15

Sorry I've got a bit behind with this thread now!

Great news you've got your prescription Footy. Has AF arrived?

How are you Fig? Have the side effects calmed down at all?

Did AF arrive doom?

I'm 6/7dpo today. Had my first blood test yesterday and got my next one on Monday. I'm getting in to danger zone now for when I usually start spotting so I'll be nervously knicker checking for the next week.

Hope you're ok too bummy and sorry if I've missed anyone!
