I'm on 2nd cycle of clomid (50mg CD2-6) and am on CD7 now - anyone else out there the same?!

Hi everyone! Hope all is going well. We've put ours off until the new year. We've got a big stressful international trip coming up and I thought as we only get three rounds I didn't want to be trying when stress levels were so high as I have such a history of chemicals. Any thoughts on this?

Also, we managed to get the clinic really cheaply and my chemist messed up! So she's given my refills I'm not meant to have so I could actually have 6 rounds. But then I wouldn't be medically monitored and going against the doctor's advice so feel I shouldn't take them.

bummymummy77 · 20/11/2016 11:33

I'm cd5 today so still could go for the clomid this month. Argh don't know what to do.

MmmMalbec · 20/11/2016 11:39

Oh that's great then Doom. We are the same, I have no other issues other than a shitty LP (which I think is low progesterone) and my DH has great sperm too. I keep feeling like it'll never happen but I know I should be more positive. Fingers crossed this is your month 😄I've read loads of first month success stories!

Sounds sensible to me bummy, you want to be as relaxed as possible when you doing your rounds I think. When is the trip? If you did clomid and then fell pregnant and had any issues on your trip I think you'd kick yourself for not waiting. Well I would if it was me I mean!

bummymummy77 · 20/11/2016 12:12

Right mmmmm. The trip is mid December. It's always pretty stressful and set to be even more so this time with ds being older and family issues so will wait it out until the new year. Sad

Footy1 · 20/11/2016 14:59

Sorry bummymummy that you have to wait! I almost contemplated it before to skip a cycle as my DH might have been away. I was told if u have a month off you might not ovulate that month. Clomid can possibly play havoc with estrogen so hormones are squiffy first month off it. Have you already used clomid?

Malbec have you had a progesterone check? I heard that some people use a progesterone cream. I was thinking about it myself? Think my cp may have been that reason. My boys are 8&9yrs. Long gap I know, but one last shot eh?! I also had long cycles like u 60 days plus when first came off pill.

Doom, good to be positive. It will happen. I'm also not going back on pill. Completely mucked up my body.

Footy1 · 20/11/2016 15:20

Btw, terrible sleep last night woke up twice dreaming weird things. Def the clomid.
Today was fine until I took another clomid dose and feeling a bit nauseous and tired. Wasn't hot in night tho. Great for the diet as not been that hungry taking it during the day.

bummymummy77 · 20/11/2016 16:00

I've not used it yet. I definitely ovulate every month but doc says it will produce better eggs.

MmmMalbec · 20/11/2016 16:29

Footy my GP wouldn't do one so I did a private one and it came back low. My consultant said progesterone checks are pointless unless they know for sure when you ovulated so they'll only do it once I'm on clomid and they can time it properly. I thought they would have scanned a natural cycle and tested but they didn't. I looked at progesterone cream but I read a lot of people saying that you can't get enough from a cream. I know some people who have progesterone suppositories that they're trying this month though so I'm interested to hear how that goes.

Strange dreams are common in pregnancy too aren't they. Weird that hormones do that to us! I felt a bit dizzy and sick after my tablet this morning but it seemed to stop pretty quickly!

Footy1 · 20/11/2016 19:05

Malbec The cycle I had my cp I could see my progesterone dropping by seeing a decline in body temperature. But like you they won't do anymore tests. My clomid cycle of blood test at the start was just normal but on the lower range. I might get some cream ordered online to at least start after ovulation this cycle. U never know?
The suppositories are suppose to be better, but don't know if u have to get a doctor to do it or prescribe it?

Yes crazy dreams are due to hormones going mad. I'm soooo tired today, roll on f/w!

Figroller · 20/11/2016 19:57

Hi everyone, hope you all had a nice weekend. Mines been hectic but helped take my mind of ttc.

Footy, yes you must be able to ovulate from both sides- because the nurse warned me there could be a risk of two. One or two will do me, I'm not fussy!

I see lots of you are having side effects from the clomid, me too and I've had ewcm today which is the first time since starting clomid. Fingers crossed! I also get hot flushes but I only seem to get the symptoms a few days after I've finished my last tablet. Does that happen to anyone else?

I think I suffer from low progesterone as well. Do you think that would be a problem if you did get pregnant or would it stay high after ov to sustain the pregnancy?

doomkittycleo · 20/11/2016 20:47

My gynaecologist told me that the corpus lutium is what causes progesterone which is why it is low when you don't ovulate.

MmmMalbec · 21/11/2016 06:03

Footy yeah definitely worth a go. As far as I'm aware you do have to have the suppositories prescribed to you. I'm hoping if they test my progesterone and it's low then I'll get some through the clinic. I'm really not sure how it works. I only charted after ovulation one month and I had a big temp drop about 8dpo too so that's another reason why I think it's low progesterone. I start spotting at 6dpo usually too which is a big sign.

That's interesting about getting the symptoms after taking the tablets Fig, I did wonder if that would be the case because that will be when your oestrogen is at its highest. Yeah the corpus luteum produces progesterone when you've ovulated. I think the logic with clomid is that it makes you produce better and stronger eggs which in turn should produce more progesterone and therefore help to sustain a pregnancy. Are you having your progesterone checked at 7dpo?

Figroller · 21/11/2016 06:38

Thanks footy and Malbec that makes sense.

Yes will have blood test at 7 dpo. Last two times on 50 mg and 100 mg have shown I did not ovulate.

MmmMalbec · 21/11/2016 08:58

What dosage are you on now then Fig?

Has anyone else felt stabbing pains in their ovaries early on? I swear I'm getting them this morning and I'm only cycle day 4 and 3rd tablet! I'm sure I won't be ovulating or anything crazy because af is still here but I'm wondering if it's a sign that I might ovulate quite a bit earlier on clomid than I do naturally?

Nowwhyareyoucrying · 21/11/2016 12:26

Im currently on 100mg footy. 50mg didn't work even though they had said I was ovulating on my own (I had always suspected I wasn't - tests were always borderline). So scans last cycle showed it worked, I had two follicles and bloods indicated I ovulated but it didn't work out.

Hoping this month is better, although I won't be monitored anymore. I get the 'grumbling ovaries' when I'm taking the tabs, which stops for a week or so, and starts again 2/3 days before ovulation. I don't get hot flushes or night waking but I do feel very emotional, which stops as soon as I stop the tablets. Think I ovulated yesterday, I had a +ve OPK on Saturday evening. Bdd Friday evening and yesterday morning so hope we caught it. Into the tww now!

Do you all take vitamins/folic acid/aspirin/herbs?

Figroller · 21/11/2016 13:33

I'm on 150 mg now malbec. On cd 13 today and had bad cramping this morning so hopefully something is going on. Got a scan tomorrow afternoon.

I just take seven seas trying for a baby Now. I have tried all sorts over the past couple of years but keeping it simple now. What do you take? Good luck in your tww Smile

How often do you all dtd? We were told every other day, which is a bit of a relief - don't think dh would manage every day.

Nowwhyareyoucrying · 21/11/2016 15:12

Thanks fig. Hope something is going on for you!

Im taking the pregnacare 'before conception' this month. Usually take separates though, multivitamin, folic acid and baby aspirin.

We normally dtd every other day from around cd 10-ovulation, sometimes every day if I can pin point ovulation. Try not to make dh feel like a sperm donor though Grin This month think I will try again tonight so cd16, think I've already ovulated but you never know. I get confused with how long things take. It's bloody exhausting thinking about it all so much.

doomkittycleo · 21/11/2016 18:01

Malbec That's the reason I was worrying that I might have ovulated really early too, but I'm on CD11 and still no +ve opk.

everythingtoplayfor · 21/11/2016 18:20

Ladies, may I get some advice? I've taken low dose clomid for the first time this month, but I'm away at a leadership offsite and staying overnight. I was due to ovulate tomorrow which would be fine as I'll be home in the evening, but I'm sure I felt something around my ovary about an hour ago... do you think it has popped out early?

I thought cycle was meant to be longer with clomid... do you think another egg might pop out another day too and we might catch that one?

I could drive home after dinner (9.30pm-ish) and back again early morning (6am-ish) but I'm so tired and the roads are dark and it's nasty full on rain outside... it's a 1hr15 drive. I'm running most of the day tomorrow so need to be tip-top.

My room is in a conference centre so I can't sneak DH in.

I had to pull over at a service station this morning on my commute to rest (and had a coffee even though I'm caffeine free as it was the only way I could make it).

...I am so frustrated!!! I guess I already know I'm too tired to drive and DH says he doesn't want me driving in the wet when I'm tired and that we're anything to happen it would be the ultimate tragedy.

I'm 43 and only have 2 other rounds of clomid, we have little chance of IVF working. We have no kids as we've been trying for a few years and 2 MCs; he's desperate for babies as am I...

Do you think tomorrow 6pm for a shag will be too late?

The whole reason we're getting nowhere is my bloody job, always so busy and tired we miss our window most months... and now this - timing couldn't be worse...

BlushSad x

Footy1 · 21/11/2016 18:31

Cd5Star
Yes get stabbing pains, in fact I have them now Malbec I'm on 3rd day of pills. Feels like ovulation pains but I know it's just preparing.

I'm only taking, EPO, folic acid, have Grapefruit juice every day and using preseed.

We are trying every other day but it is quite tricky as DH away a lot and often tired HmmI ovulate at different times, so as soon as I get +opk I try every day. Last cycle I dtd 20 out of 30 days and didn't ovulate! Sod's law eh!!

Hoping this cycle works. Fingers crossed for your scan fig.

doomkittycleo · 21/11/2016 18:37

everything Have you been using opk's? I wouldn't risk it. Don't know where you are, but storm Angus has hit us this evening and I wouldn't wanna go out again tonight. I've been having twinges all month long this time, so there's no guarantee you've just ovulated.

Just bide your time n BD when you get home tomorrow.

No sense in putting yourself in danger, just for a shag.

everythingtoplayfor · 21/11/2016 18:57

Thanks doomkitty... I know you're right. Weather is horrendous isn't it? Hope you're warm and dry!

I realise I sound like an absolute nutter, I'm not really (well maybe a little!)... just so fed up - feels like there's always something. Last month I had the worst cold EVER and was desperately trying to seduce DH with a red, sore stuffed nose...needless to say all I got was a lemsip and he's still telling all our friends how funny it was!

I don't have much mucus today so probably not actually ovulating yet anyway.

Footy1 · 21/11/2016 22:57

Sorry missed your post earlier everything. I'd stay put in this weather for sure. I've had bad cramping tonight (been about 4 hours so far) feels like I'm ovulating but will see what the temp does in the morning. Can't be now at cd5 so I'm sure it's just ripening eggs. Clomid plays tricks on the body and gives lots of false readings. Opk was positive at 5pm?! So don't think I can rely on them.

Things we do to seduce the DH! Lol I've even resulted in chilli heatwave Doritos (his fav) and a beer if he's been a good boy BlushHalo

everythingtoplayfor · 22/11/2016 06:29

Thanks Footy1! I did indeed stay put and feel much better for it now.

Chilli Dorito's... that's one way to get him hot! ;-)

Footy1 · 22/11/2016 07:33

Anyone taking temps on clomid?

I've had another high reading, but wondered if the clomid makes the temps higher whilst taking it?

Today and yesterday both are readings cd5 36.60 and cd6 36.64 ? Big jump from 36.20 range with AF. Anyone else have this?
