We have relocated from the conception board where we were previously chatting under the thread 'ttc for 10 months or more'. A lot of us are now long term ttc-ers and are going through infertility treatment or looking to take steps in this direction so we feel this might be a more suitable home for us!

Feel free to stop by and say hi and hopefully we can share the journey together and make it a little easier along the way!

Good luck with your appointment this afternoon Cityzen. Sounds like you are well prepared.

How frustrating Bean! Hopefully you don't have to wait another month.

Sorry that you are out this month Brenna.

Paige, its definitely good to talk things through and get everything out in the open. I worry as my DH doesn't really talk about how he is feeling about things.

I hope your follow up goes ok Banana. Interesting re the possibility of over suppressing. Do you know what your NK results were? Mine were 15 (with normal being 5-10) and a lot of ladies with elevated NK cells seem to have higher levels. I hadn't realised they could fluctuate much from month to month. I had 2 intralipids last time prior to transfer and plan to go with one this time. If it doesn't work with 2 blasts going back then we'll have to have a rethink.

Hope you're doing ok Star.

Lozza398 · 27/09/2016 15:25

Good luck Cityzen I hope all goes well today!

Stupid question time - does DH have to come to GP appointment with me? My appointment is after work & its logistically difficult to get him there. I figured he's not required to go to that one as to me I'm a straightforward referral.

Hope everyone is ok! Flowers

JustTrixie · 27/09/2016 15:59

DH shouldn't have to attend the GP appointment Lozza, mine didn't, hope it goes ok.

Brenna24 · 27/09/2016 16:06

Good luck Cityzen

I think you should be ok to go on your own Lozza.

Paige43 · 27/09/2016 18:04

Just Trixie hi! My husband tends to bottle things up also but it eventually because he was feeling so down about it he had to share his feelings.

He didn't come with me to my appointment.

Hope things went well Cityzen

MPP81 · 28/09/2016 12:08

Hello all!

Still stalking in between unpacking and getting ready for the start of this years uni modules and Banana I just wanted to say I am so, so sorry about your chemical. I dont know what to say, but I am thinking of you Flowers

maplebaby · 28/09/2016 14:03

Sorry for AF Brenna Flowers
*
Paige* despite the argument I think it's great you were able to talk to DH and share how you feel. I don't really talk to DH except when I'm upset about it - he's quite laid back about it all...

City I hope your appointment went well?

Bean sorry you didn't hear what you wanted at the scan - hope to get to start soon!

AFM I had a follow up scan after my inconclusive /missing period following the cancelled IUI. Nothing to report except bloods on Friday showed I had ovulated and my lining today was 8mm Shock that's the thickest it's ever been! It was 4.6mm on Friday. I've been told to wait for AF and if nothing by Sunday back for another scan! We only dtd once on wed when we had ewcm so not particularly hopeful!

Lozza398 · 29/09/2016 20:19

Hello all!

I hope your appointment went well Cityzen

Paige I hope you and DH are both ok! Its good to talk :)

MPP good luck for your scan on sunday!

AFM I had my GP appointment - he didn't really know what he was doing but he was lovely and called me later that day and advised me I could collect some blood forms from him. Bloods all taken and the initial results are actually surprising - I do actually ovulate! Who knew! So whilst I was pleased about that I was also left wondering what's wrong!

DH is now concerned that he's the issue! I'm still not so sure it's him - I'm wondering how quickly the inositol works and whether that's made my bloods better? Anyway DH has to do his bit - two samples 3 weeks apart - and then we get the referral sent and so begins the waiting game!

Hope everyone else is ok! CakeFlowers

beanhunter · 29/09/2016 22:00

Still on dr. Day 28. Feel like crap. Want this over.

Paige43 · 29/09/2016 22:35

maplebaby was the first time we properly talked

Lozza we are good. We have our first appointment tomorrow morning.

bean lots of hugs x

geeup · 03/10/2016 12:42

Hi all from a long time lurker. I know a few of you from other threads so hi again to you! I wondered if any of you could please give me some advice. I've been ttc #1 for c 18 mths and was due to start clomid on cd3 tomorrow. Just called my NHS clinic as requested to book in for my follicle scans and they can't fit me in and told me I can't start this month - livid!
I have tried calling a couple of clinics to see if they would either do the follicle scans for me or potentially we could do a full IUI but expect it's somewhat unlikely as I'm CD2 today and obviously haven't had consultations and tests etc with these clinics (except Create where I had an MOT a year ago). Is this a ridiculous goose chase or do you think a clinic could get you going on an IUI cycle when first contact was on CD2? Thank you in advance.

geeup · 03/10/2016 12:44

Ps I have read your thread and would offer my thoughts on your individual situations but don't know if that's rude from a stranger?! I haven't done an IUI or anything yet so can only empathise with you all though at your different stages!

Raeside · 03/10/2016 13:02

Geeup - am also a lurker! If you're in London maybe try City Fertility.....

lucieloos · 03/10/2016 15:25

Geeup, I would try city fertility too I know a lot of women have used them and they should be able to fit you in at short notice. I'm not sure what their prices etc are like to do iui but i would have thought they would definitely be able to fit you in for follicle tracking for clomid. Only thing is you would need to be starting the clomid in the next couple of days.

How is everybody else doing? Anyone else going to be cycling soon?

Trixie, do you have a date yet?

OP posts:
JustTrixie · 03/10/2016 15:56

Hi Geeup, I don't know anything about iui but I did IVF at City Fertility last year and would definitely recommend them.

Hi Lucie, hope you're doing OK. I'm expecting AF at the weekend (unless I'm in for another long cycle...) then need to book in my scratch for around day 21. Will be going off my November AF so probably not looking at transfer until late November/early December, lots of waiting - yawn!

JustTrixie · 03/10/2016 15:59

ps Geeup, Raeside and any other lurkers feel free to join in Smile

Hope everyone else is doing OK.

bananafish81 · 03/10/2016 16:02

Hi ladies

maple good luck - I also had a weird ovulating twice with no period in between - although I was down regging and also now I'm PCOS again I don't ovulate!!

geeup definitely worth asking! Depends whether you want follicle scans or a full IUI. Do you have male factor? If not then success rates aren't much different to timed intercourse and you could get tracking scans at any ultrasound clinic. IUI requires all the virology bloods to be done as it's an HFEA licensed procedure so I assume you'd need proof of having these done to avoid having to redo them? Good luck!

paige how did your appointment go?

lozza great news that you've ov-ed - guess the question is whether you are in fact ovulating regularly or not?

bean thinking of you

trixie my Locus Medicus tests had my nk cells assay results as

50:1 E:T NK Cytotoxicity 16.13%
25:1 E:T NK Cytotoxicity 12.89%
12.5:1 E:T NK Cytotoxicity 9.87%

Prof Quenby and Brosens say the peripheral blood tests don't necessarily accurately reflect what's going on in the uterine environment and they only rate the uNK cells biopsy. They argue if uNK cells are low that pred and intralipids can be harmful. I don't know
A) if I believe the uNK biopsy is any use as the levels seem to vary month on month
B) whether it matters, as empirically I managed to propagate a pregnancy (albeit with sudden foetal demise) without pred / intralipids, and had poor implantation with the tx, so based on my personal history, I’m minded to leave out next time

Had our WTF appt with my Dr on Fri. He was really sad for us about the outcome of this cycle, but didn't think I was a total lost cause. He said I did propagate a pregnancy before (albeit one with sudden foetal demise) and we need to get me back to that place. If I hadn't been properly pregnant before, we might be in a different situation. But that gives him hope. He was really apologetic - we said well the facts are the facts, it's no one's fault and there's no sense in sugar coating it. And he said 'yes, but you're nice people and you've been through a hell of a lot, and I really want this to work for you!'. So we have someone batting for us really hard.

He said something definitely did implant and start to invade the endometrium, it wasn't failed implantation, it was a very early miscarriage - but as far as he's concerned the issue definitely lies with the endometrium and its ability to support a pregnancy (which I agree with). He said we've got the embryos and they're not going anywhere. So the plan is to work on my lining over the next few months.

Hysteroscopy is confirmed for Weds, but will thankfully be less of a D&C (and more of a light clean and polish) as amazingly, there's no crap left in my uterus, despite not having had a proper period (yes, apparently you can absorb uterine lining).

Copper IUD goes in on Weds when he's doing the hysto, and we do one month of cyclo-progynova and see if I get a bleed. Probably repeat again then take IUD out. The copper generates an inflammatory reaction which causes the endometrium to thicken - it's why women who get a copper coil tend to have very heavy periods. So the copper IUD is used in cases of Ashermans syndrome (even if that's not what I have, we're treating me as if I do) to kick the lining into gear and restore menstruation.

Then we will do a mock FET. We'll do endometrial biopsies to see what the lining is actually doing from a histology POV, not just what the scan says it's doing - one in the first half of the cycle in the proliferative phase, then after starting progesterone he's recommended we do the ERA biopsy (the one which looks at the lining during the implantation window to see how receptive it is).

Depending on how they go, whether we have to try different combinations of FET drugs if I still don't respond well to oestrogen (eg Tamoxifen), maybe a few months down the line we could be in a position to actually do a treatment cycle for real and put one of our PGS tested frozen embryos back. Until then it's back onto the bench of boredom I go...

The universe has a funny sense of humour that HRT and contraception are supposed to help me to get and stay pregnant 🤔

Raeside · 03/10/2016 16:10

Thanks JustTrixie - was trying to be politic in not getting too involved, as yet at least! - as only just heading into IVF after 2.5 years of trying to conceive #2, damned secondary infertility. And conscious of fact already incredibly lucky to have DS which I think maybe makes me feel like being bit quiet on some infertility chats!

Raeside · 03/10/2016 16:11

Having said that, anyone else at City Fertility?

Paige43 · 03/10/2016 17:25

Wow Banana you really are going through it. Pleased the Dr is fighting your corner and hopefully you can get back to a better place.

Well had consultation did bloods and s an. Dr confirmed I have pcos so we gonna cycle monitor this month and see if I ovulate.

geeup · 03/10/2016 18:44

Thanks everyone for your thoughts. In the end Create did say they could help with the follicle scans so I could go ahead but would need the approval of the doctor as they would only do the scan - he would need to interpret etc. The massively unhelpful nurse at my NHS clinic was pretty clear my doctor would be unavailable to do this so have given up. Also can't start IUI as like it was said above (sorry on phone so can't scroll for your name!) I would need to follow full HFEA guidelines and don't have time as CD2 already. So depressing to miss another cycle doing nothing though.
On another note though banana you are amazing. Your courage and tenacity is simply incredible. If there is any god/justice/light at all in the universe, there is 100% a baby with your name on it somewhere out there. Good luck with the coil.

beanhunter · 03/10/2016 18:49

Hi all.
I'm starting on weds. Short protocol after the disasterous dr. Before that however I get to have dinner with the amazing banana - sure we will both be heaps of laughs!

Lozza398 · 04/10/2016 00:07

Hi everyone!

Banana you always amaze me with your knowledge! You could easily work alongside your doctor I'm sure! It sounds like you've got a good plan for a while though! Hope the copper coil works for you! I agree - weird how contraception can help!?!

Paige - good luck with your cycle monitoring!

bean - good luck for Wednesday!

Waves to everyone else!

AFM I will be joining the bench of boredom! Have to wait 6 weeks for sperm analysis! Then it needs repeating 3 weeks afterwards too! I'm still waiting on my full blood results - they only process certain tests on certain days as it's cheaper - seen as I have 6 more joyful weeks of waiting for DHs test they might as well take their time with my bloods! Yawn..... Wake me up nearer Christmas someone!

Hope all of our BFP ladies are doing ok! Xx

maplebaby · 04/10/2016 13:16

Hi all and to our lurkers! Welcome geeup and raeside!

Banana honestly your doctor sounds amazing! Not sure what the nk results mean but hopefully nothing to be concerned with? Best of luck tomorrow - really hope this works for you.

Bean good luck with short protocol tomorrow!

Lozza 6weeks!! Goodness I hope you have lots of things planned to try and keep yourself occupied..

So AF finally made an appearance on Saturday and I just went in for my scan today. All good to start again but I'll be on half dose instead - follicle tracking scan on tues next week!

Lozza398 · 04/10/2016 22:39

Good luck maplebaby - hope all goes well!

So three weeks into taking inofolic and I have just had an earlier arrival of AF than expected - a 30 day cycle! That's very early for me - it's the shortest cycle I've ever had! Quite amazed! It's the simple things in life & all that!
