We have relocated from the conception board where we were previously chatting under the thread 'ttc for 10 months or more'. A lot of us are now long term ttc-ers and are going through infertility treatment or looking to take steps in this direction so we feel this might be a more suitable home for us!

Feel free to stop by and say hi and hopefully we can share the journey together and make it a little easier along the way!

Good luck today banana!

lucieloos · 03/09/2016 11:44

Day 1 results are in and they got the number of eggs we collected yesterday wrong! We didn't get 7, we got 8!!! That's officially the most we've ever got! So after 18 months and 6 different protocols looks like I've finally found one that works for me. We got 7 mature and 6 fertilised. Phew now I can get on with the rest of the weekend!

Wow, that's brilliant Lucie, so pleased for you Grin good luck for your update on Monday.

Good luck today Banana!

Thanks trixie! Oh out of interest following our progesterone discussion when I spoke to the doctor yesterday he said they aren't putting me on 2 lubion a day I'm on 1 lubion in the evening and 2 cyclogest in the morning.

Thanks ladies!

Not too many eggs which is vg, as for a transfer cycle he didn't want oestrogen levels through the roof. About 7 good ones and 10 small / medium, I think. Can't quite remember through sedation! We didn't stim me for the eggs, obv if we'd have been doing IVF rather than a FET would have stimmed me differently

He'll do a final lining check on Weds before we thaw anything - but things are looking loads better than in my last transfer cycle. It's started compacting (which it's supposed to) but not too much (unlike before)

In my Jan cycle it was 7.2mm the day before trigger - but had compacted to 5.5mm by EC (which was more than my Dr would have expected) . We reached 8.5mm by transfer - but it's trigger that counts. Dr Sher says anything below 8mm at trigger is insufficient, 8-9mm is intermediate and 9mm+ is really what's needed.

This time it was 8.4mm two days before trigger - and compacted to 8.5mm today. So I'm hoping that means it was over the magical 9mm when I triggered 🙏

Tbh if anything the fact I had a proper bleed and the lining regenerated probably is as important as the thickness, if not more so. All the new research from the Coventry recurrent miscarriage clinic says it's this regeneration that actually determines in some cases whether a pregnancy will miscarry - ie it's menstruation that is the key

Pleased with how it's all looking - just have to hope it's enough!!

bananafish81 · 03/09/2016 12:34

Cross post - wow lucie that's spectacular news! You've always had such brilliant egg quality before I'm sure you will get some beautiful blasts from that! Fantastic news!!

lucieloos · 03/09/2016 13:46

That's brilliant news banana! I think my lining was around 8.4mm at EC so no compacting at all yet! All sounding great for you. Can't wait for us both to be pupo.

Banana ahhh so pleased about the lining! What happens now? When will they transfer? Hope you're resting up today!*

Lucie* woohoo to the eggs and and fertilisation, how brilliant! When do you hear next??

lucieloos · 03/09/2016 14:17

Thanks maple, they said they will ring before 9am on Monday for my day 3 update and then hopefully transfer will be on Wednesday if everything is still looking good.

maple ET will be Thu, as our embryos were frozen as blasts, so we need to transfer at day 5. Dr will do one final lining check on Weds to check he's happy to proceed to transfer, and all being well, they'll thaw a frostie on Thu morning.

Thankfully this cycle we don't have to sit watching the phone like a bomb detonator, waiting for updates from the lab, as we're not making any embryos (as this is technically a FET). Just have to sit tight till Weds / Thu!

lucieloos · 03/09/2016 14:59

Haha I know exactly what you mean about the phone banana it's been awful this morning! Hopefully only one more to get through although I suppose I still have the unknown when I go in on day 5 whereas you know you blasts are all nicely frozen away already.

Oh gosh lucie a fresh is so much more emotionally stressful - I think the days in between EC and ET are the hardest part of the whole thing

(although scanxiety and the time between ET and test day aren't exactly a walk in the park either!!)

Lining wise Dr said the appearance shows it's started to compact under the influence of progesterone - the echogenic pattern changes from triple line to a solid white stripe. So when he looks at the thickness on the day of EC, it's already started to become secretory (and will fluff up once the progesterone is started)

lucieloos · 03/09/2016 15:46

Yes it is isn't it banana. I haven't actually done a fet yet but I imagine it is quite nice unless of course you have the lining stresses that you have dealt with!

That's good about the compaction although it always panics me if I go in on et day and it's gone down to something like 7 but I suppose so long as we got over the 8mm by trigger then it shouldn't matter??

lucieloos · 03/09/2016 15:50

Are you continuing with the progynova now banana?

MrsRen · 03/09/2016 15:53

Excellent news Lucie and Banana!! X

bananafish81 · 03/09/2016 16:02

Thanks mrs!

lucie yes it's been a sort of hybrid cycle - it's not been the kind of laid back FET others have described where you just go through the steps and then have an embryo put back - it's always been IF we have a transfer, not WHEN. So it's been a different kind of stress - as it's basically last chance saloon ; if we can't get my lining to thicken up then what the hell next? I think the stress of making embryos is a very different kind of concentrated high level anxiety - we got that bit over with in the freeze all cycle in May, thankfully

Yes I'll continue taking Progynova. Last time I took it right through to 10w.

lucieloos · 03/09/2016 16:13

Yes wish I could get the making embryos bit over in one go. It's been a long old road for me with the low numbers. I could only dream of having 6 normal ones frozen but I'm happy that we have the 2 tested and 2 untested for now. Would be amazing if we could get the bfp from this round as I'm getting tired of it all but what will be will be I guess. Just glad that the numbers have picked up a bit which reduces the stress levels a little as when we were only getting 2 fertilised the phone calls etc were horrendous! At least we have a little room to manoeuvre now. If we are lucky enough to get them we are thinking of having 2 blasts transferred this time Shock I know it doesn't increase success rates that much but my doc says 5-10% and also having been through the testing a couple of times I know generally it's 1 in 2-3 of my blasts that are normal. I fairly happy with the lining this time and it's a bit of a faff having frosties on the NHS as I have to work to their timescales rather than just transfer when I want so that's what I'm thinking. I would only do one at a time with the Czech ones though.

OP posts:
bananafish81 · 03/09/2016 16:22

I would do exactly the same lucie - you've got a terrific bunch of goers to start with, and you've made beautiful blasts in the past. And having done the testing before, that's given you a lot more information to go on about your embryos - I think you'll have at least one perfect one in there

You've had consistency throughout which is terrific. My first round were all duds - 4/6 fertilised but all arrested after day 3. My lot from my second round were rubbish - statistically out of 5 blasts we should have had more than 1 normal. But nope! One good one (that I miscarried) and the other 4 were duds. The third round was a massive departure, with 6/9 being normal.

My body is nothing if not wildly unpredictable!!

Really hope this cycle is lucky for us both xx

lucieloos · 03/09/2016 16:27

Thanks Banana. It's amazing you got 6/9 normal on the third round! I would love to be able to graduate with you this time ahhh would be so good!

Great news all round Grin. I hope things continue this well.

Good news to all.
Day 2 of stabbing here. Had forgotten the horrible headaches of dr. Oh joy.

friends123 · 03/09/2016 19:26

Fantastic news everyone. I'm so glad things went well for you both. Wink xx

bananafish81 · 04/09/2016 16:14

BTW lucie on the lining compacting question, I asked Dr Sher. Firstly I asked him how important the triple line was - I had decent thickness but no obvious triple line, however my consultant said that wasn't critical as the appearance was proliferative, and it was thickening up nicely. Dr Sher said he hardly even looks at the echogenic pattern now, and it's all about the thickness - which was reassuring!

Similarly, he also backed up what my consultant said about the lining compacting after trigger. It's only the measurement before trigger, when the lining is proliferative that counts. So compacting at EC and / or ET is fine.
