Thanks for book suggestions. Your post has made me realise how much there is to figure out about all this. So amazed at everything you are going through. Off to do some research into all these terms I don't understand!

Hi all

I hope you don't mind me delurking to say hello? I'm gearing up for my first ever IVF and trying to get my head around it. I just wanted to say Shellster your post was nice to read - those stories about how it worked eventually can be hard to read but you really get it.

Banana, hi! I'm sorry you're having such a medically baffling time. So glad you have your perfect embies and I really feel for you hitting more obstacles. I so hope that things come together for you soon, you deserve some plain sailing for a change.

LH, hi there - I remember you from a few months ago - congratulations on the wedding!

And Sara, I am also 40 next April (argh!), starting IVF for the first time in 3 weeks, and feeling so up and down about it as well. It feels like a massive step, doesn't it? I hope it works out for you, I'm around if you want to chat.

Hi Rebecca
I too will be starting in a couple of weeks so we may be in synch! Are you an Aries too? We like to be in control and this experience is anything but. It's scary in one way the thought of all these drugs and hormones but I keep thinking that at our tender age maybe having them pick a fabulous embryo and put it exactly where it needs to be is no bad thing. There I am assuming I will of course have fabulous embryos when I know it takes luck to even get to that point. Then my mind wanders to the thought of the other embryos I might have that never get to be and that freaks me out a bit. But deep down I believe that if I ever get my own baby, everything will work out. If you don't mind me asking, how long have you been trying? Are you having NHS treatment? Be great to share our journeys. Yes it feels like a massive step but almost as though it's waking me up and every now and then I think it might actually work which I've kind of given up on but not entirely if you know what I mean? I hope you feel OK with the treatment and get the best of care. The receptionist at the clinic I went to on Mon was so kind I nearly wept into my hot chocolate. Fingers crossed. Keep in touch.☺

HI Sara, don't want to derail this thread but wanted to reply - that's funny, no, I'm a Taurus and I actually

Hi Noodlesd
Sounds like you've been through a lot. Think it's wrong women have to wait so long. I get what you mean about yoyo moods. Alternating between irritated and excited today. Met up with today who just back from maternity leave after her first ivf which gave me hope. I don't really do horoscopes just thought it was funny someone else is40 in April too! Stay positive!
