Any on looking to start ivf/icsi in the new year?

Just wondering if anyone would like to keep me company and share the ivf/icsi journey. DH and I are both 35 years old and have been trying to conceive our first child for 10months. DH has lowish sperm motility and I have a low amh (7.24). We haven't had any luck so far and so the next step will be ivf with icsi in the new year. We are thinking of starting end of feb or march. Would be great to share the journey with others in similar situations and hopefully make some friends along the way Smile

Hi All
Thank you for all your kind words. I'm sorry to have put a downer on the thread last week, I just needed a break away from thinking about it. I found being back at work helped massively.

I'm feeling much more positive and every day that AF doesn't arrive seems like a little victory! I still have AF symptoms but I suppose these could be early pregnancy symptoms too so I will try and focus on that for now. Test day is Thursday so fingers and toes crossed for that!

Sounds like everyone is doing well. Amazing fertilisation results MrsWW! Sending you lots of positive thoughts.

Persipan how
are you finding the wait?

How's everyone else getting on?

Persipan · 15/02/2015 20:41

The wait is eeeeeeevvvvvviiiiiilllllllllllllll. It's all a bit 'give me an occupation, Miss Dashwood, or I shall run mad.' I'm not supposed to test for another week, but I may try the odd one sometime soon just for something to do!

I'm working on the principle that it hasn't worked - it's more in my nature to start from pessimism than the other way around...

makingdoo · 15/02/2015 21:05

Oooh now you've tempted me to test when I've been so good! I might stop by the pharmacy tomorrow and pick one up .........

Persipan · 15/02/2015 21:38

No! Don't let me lead you astray...

BadgerFace · 16/02/2015 11:10

DON'T TEST!! Either of you!! I know the wait is really hard but testing early can give incorrect results due to the hormones in the trigger injection. You need time for that drug to fade away...

I am so bored of just being on Buserelin. It's day 22 today of injections and my next scan is not until Thursday. I just want to get on with it all now!

warriorbot · 16/02/2015 14:21

[makes distracting faces at Badger, Makingdoo and Persipan]

Any news on transfer MrsWW?

mrswishywashy · 16/02/2015 17:08

Can I test too? We can all drive each other crazy!

Actually no point yet me testing. Should get a call between 8-9am tomorrow and hope the three have continued dividing. Possible transfer at11.30am tomorrow or continue to blasts so transfer on Thursday. The wait is scary. All out of my hands which is difficult.

lucieloos · 16/02/2015 17:47

Good luck mrsww you have done all you can. I hope those little cells keep dividing. I know when it's my turn I'm going to be on tenter hooks every day waiting for the calls!

makingdoo · 16/02/2015 22:56

Can I really not test yet?! I did pop by the pharmacy and a little clear blue digital seems to have found it's way into my hand bag Blush

Good luck tomorrow MrsWW

BadgerFace · 17/02/2015 10:15

The trouble is makingdoo that the trigger injection has HcG in it which is the hormone which pregnancy tests test... I have copied and pasted but this explains the issues with testing early after IVF:-

"Home pregnancy tests can render false results for fertility patients, either negative or positive. A false positive can be the result of the fact that in many fertility treatments, hCG is given to “trigger” ovulation and may remain in the blood. A false negative might occur because a low level of hCG may be undetectable in a urine test despite a pregnancy starting."

So although an early response pregnancy test can tell you quite close to your missed period if you are pregnant when trying naturally you can get skewed results with IVF which is why the clinics make you wait until X days past egg collection (is it 16? I've forgotten!).

Good luck to day MrsWW if you're going in for transfer...

mrswishywashy · 17/02/2015 13:33

Two little embryos onboard. One an eight cell and the other a six cell. Both have fragmentation. One embryologist said below average (how very dare he) and the other one said above average so a bit confusing. Transfer went fine althiugh uncomfortable because of full bladder. So let the 2WW commence. Am lucky my partner is a school teacher and it's half term so she can run around after me. Testing is March 3rd but I will do first test the 1st.

When is everyone else's testing date?
How is everyone getting on in their journey.

Happy pancake day.

BadgerFace · 17/02/2015 15:13

More embryos on board, yeah!! Well done MrsWW, get that 2WW stopwatch going... I think that your second embryologist sounds much cleverer than the first, of course they are above average!

I am still bleeding Confused so not sure what that's going to mean for my scan on Thursday. Although to be honest if things slipped further now then that would be fine as the current forecast ET for me of 17 March is pretty much a work disaster... DH is going to have to buy some more posh chocolates the (slow) rate we are going. I reckon they are going to add about 3% to our total IVF bill. Wink

lucieloos · 17/02/2015 16:56

Congratulations mrsww and good luck for your 2ww.

makingdoo · 18/02/2015 11:25

MrsWW Congrats on your transfer and good luck with the 2ww. My advice is to find lots of things to keep your mind occupied.

How are you getting on badger?

Persipan take badgers advice and don't test early.

Hope everyone else is doing good.

Our official test day is tomorrow but sadly my feeling was cemented yesterday when AF arrived in full flow. I will do the test tomorrow morning as a matter of finalising it but this cycle is over for us.

Fingers and toes crossed for you all

warriorbot · 18/02/2015 13:43

Huge huge huge hugs for you, Makingdoo. I'm so sorry to hear that. BrewBiscuit

mrswishywashy · 18/02/2015 15:09

So sorry to hear that makingdoo, be kind to your self. Where you on progesterone support?

lucieloos · 18/02/2015 15:11

Really sorry to hear that makingdooHmm Big hugs to you.

makingdoo · 18/02/2015 15:29

Thanks everyone. I'm just a bit numb and really regretting telling our parents that we where having the treatment as it's so hard to deal with disappointing them too.

Yes MrsWW I was on progesterone from the day of ET

BadgerFace · 18/02/2015 18:39

Sorry to hear that makingdoo. Look after yourself.

GalindawithaGa · 18/02/2015 20:30

Oh no makingdoo so sorry to hear that. Was hoping to hear good news from you.

After being back on the pill for the first time in years I'm finally starting injections tomorrow, provided all looks ok at the scan. Excited and nervous! On the short protocol so once it all kicks off tomorrow it should all be quite quick.

Thanks To everyone

BadgerFace · 19/02/2015 11:08

My scan went well today and I am finally ready to start the oestrogen tablets on Saturday. I have to take them 8 hours apart so probably 6am, 2pm and 10pm which will probably be more stressful to remember than the injections! ET is looking likely for 12 or 13 March (phew!) all being well...

Hope your scan goes well today Ga.

whatlifestylechoice · 19/02/2015 14:49

Hi guys, can I join in? I had ER today and they only got 2 good eggs, so I'm a bit gutted. It's our first cycle, though, and we're allowed 4, so hopefully other cycles will be better if this doesn't work out.

Sorry for your news makingdoo. I told my parents almost by accident as well and am also now regretting it.

BadgerFace · 19/02/2015 15:29

Hello whatlife, hope you're not too sore after EC. And it only takes one courageous little embryo so 2 eggs could be double what you need!

With parents I think the important thing to remember is that whilst they will no doubt be disappointed for you when a cycle fails, none of us are disappointing them.

How's everyone else today? Is that test still in its wrapper Persipan...?

Any news on when you can use your frosties warrior?

And is anyone else looking round the waiting rooms in their clinic thinking "Ooooh, I wonder if you're on my mumsnet thread...?" Perhaps we should all start wearing daffodils in our buttonholes Wink

whatlifestylechoice · 19/02/2015 18:03

Not too sore no, thanks Badger, but a bit uncomfortable .

Good news about your scan and things moving on. Are the estrogen tablets taken orally at least? I have to take progesterone 3 times a day vaginally. Because that's convenient. Hmm

warriorbot · 19/02/2015 18:22

Hello, Badger - I often wonder whether I'm passing you at London Bridge Grin.

Thanks for asking: my period arrived on the 16th but I've been told I have to wait until my second period before starting the FTET. It's frustrating but at least my cycle is reasserting itself. Monster ovaries have definitely shrunk considerably!

Hooray for your scan. And well done on the EC, whatLC.

Echoing what Badger said about the people we share with. Unless they're utter shits, they'll be disappointed for you, not in you. dealing with your own disappointment, and taking good care of yourself, is all you need to focus on.

Sending love and distraction to everyone currently on the rollercoaster while I start my month on the gentle but rather pointless teacup ride Grin
