brown I'd be curious to know what his response is if you do raise it... How are you feeling by the way?

nanny yes, I'm on another 2ww on a SO cycle. Apart from not managing to fall pregnant since the chemical pg I had in April, I'm feeling ridiculously well, even on pred. Funny how I long to be pregnant and struck down with morning sickness!

Waves to all.

brownstag · 20/09/2014 16:52

I will definitely let you know, Village. One of the studies I was reading said that the average American consumed around 5g of l-arginine a day, and therefore for their research they supplemented with over 6g, so 100g in Pregnacare is a very small token gesture.
I feel fine, thanks. No pregnancy symptoms on pred but I do have very bad shakes in my hands and in my face which I'm also going to ask Mr S about. I posted on here about my shakes about 6 months ago, and I was referred to a neurologist by my GP, but by the time my appointment came through, I cancelled it because I thought I'd worked out it was caffeine. They almost disappeared when I stopped drinking coffee. However, I now think it may be pred as well as caffeine.
My belly is enormous too, after a week! A child at a party we went to this afternoon asked if there was a baby in my tummy ... It's all worth it if it works of course, but when it doesn't and you're left with the aftermath of constantly looking 4 months pregnant, it does get you down.
It took me 9 months to get pregnant again, Village, so hopefully it will happen for you very soon.

brownstag · 22/09/2014 08:02

Why can't I just step away from the tests?
Stupidly I did another Clear Blue, but I now realise it was only 5.5 days since the last one, not a whole week. It still said 2-3 weeks, which would be right as I'm 4 + 6.
Now I'm busy doing all kinds of sums ... in 5.5 days it could have doubled only twice and still be normal, and the range for 2-3 is 200 to 2000. So if it was only just 200 last week, it might only be 800 now and still be normal.
You think I'd be pleased, as that means hCG are not ridiculously high and therefore less likely to be Down's ...
Please could someone give me a temporary lobotomy.

brownstag · 22/09/2014 08:04

How is everyone?

swlondonnanny · 22/09/2014 13:45

Brown you need to stop testing..... I know easier for me to say than for you to do....
I am fine, AF finally arrived yesterday - which made my luteal phase 16 days. As I was getting BFN I knew it was on its way but all sorts of thoughts were going on in my head.
Having intralipids on Friday, wondering what's that going to be like....

brownstag · 22/09/2014 13:53

I know ... and I've just been out and bought another giant sack of tests ... a mix and match from every shop in town.
I was thinking of you this morning and how a long luteal phase is a double-edged sword. On one hand you don't need to worry about something implanting if it could, and I also suspect it means good egg quality, but it's such torture waiting for the next cycle, especially if you know for sure that cycle is negative.

swlondonnanny · 22/09/2014 15:00

No idea if it is the vit B6 I am taking or the inositol I stared a few weeks ago which makes it 16 days. Guess better than 9/10 days. So am not complaining. Cant say thst I wasnt hoping that the tests were wrong though....
How do you feel, Brown ? Any symptoms? How did your DH react when you told him?

brownstag · 22/09/2014 15:30

Definitely better than 9/10 days and the anxiety of not knowing when AF will come.
Yes, maybe it is the B6. I found it added a day to mine. Will you carry on with it?
DH has been okay though he has playing golf even more than normal. He has no sympathy for any pred-related side effects though; he just tells me not to take it. I had quite a bit of cramping yesterday and that's been the only symptom really. And my lips are red??
I've decided I need a big slap round the face about the tests. If a few weeks ago I'd been able to foresee the row of strongly positive tests I've got arranged on my windowsill, I would have jumped for joy, as I'm sure would anyone currently on their interminable 2ww. I looked back at the threads from the time of my last pregnancy and saw that that pregnancy was doomed from the beginning. And I've been getting upset today simply because, when it boils down to it, Clear Blue hasn't put me 'ahead' of dates. I need a reality check in the form of a large wet kipper in the face.

brownstag · 22/09/2014 15:46

P.S. If anyone wants an ordinary Clear Blue test, I can post it to you. I bought it by accident thinking it was digital. They had 2 in a box; one just an ordinary one and one being a digital. What's the point of that? if you're using a digital the other one is redundant! I took it out of the wrapper (but obviously it hasn't been used!).

VillageMum · 22/09/2014 17:52

Brown thanks for the moral support, it means a lot. Your Clearblue results sound spot on, all strong and not diminishing, a result to wish for as you say - don't stress! Maybe don't test again before you see Mr S next week? Will he be scanning you?

Nanny good luck for Friday and this next cycle!

swlondonnanny · 23/09/2014 06:52

Morning everyone
Brown yes I will carry on with B6 but will take half dose - supposed to take 1 in the morning and 1 in the morning so will just carry on with the morning one. I was recommended B6 by my osteopath to keep away my cold sore and it worked while I was using it. As I had 4 in last cycle I started to take it again. Rather have 1 day longer luteal phase as those pesky cold sore actually interfere with my job - am paranoid that the little girl I look after could catch it from me.....
Hmmm, husbands - they really know how to be supportive, hey? Am being cynical here. Who knows, you might not need the prednisolone but you are not just going to stop, are you?
Hope when you do the next CBdigital it will show 3+ Smile
Could you get an early scan at your local EPU? Or will you wait till your appointment with Dr S?
Village best of luck, fingers crossed for BFP when you test

brownstag · 23/09/2014 11:22

I wouldn't worry too much about the little girl catching the cold sore. We are assailed by these things from all quarters and we either get the virus or we don't - we can't do much about it. My mum has had active cold sores when she looked after my son when he was a baby and as far as I know he never got it. I remember going to a friend's wedding and he had a massive cold sore, but everyone felt obliged to kiss him!
I don't now whether I'm going to get another CB now. Too much stress and I've only got 3 days to wait until I see Mr S. Although to be fair it will be only 5 + 3 so probably nothing to see yet. I wasted the whole day yesterday doing nothing constructive and it just isn't helping. Well, that's my current plan; I have to pass the chemist on the way to pick up my son this afternoon so we'll see if I can resist the tests ...
Village, when are you due to test? It's very easy to think that your body isn't working any more when you haven't had a positive test for a while; every time I convince myself that's it - it's definitely the end now. I thought that a month ago. Do you use ConceivePlus? I used that this time and I do swear by it. We were just getting down to the end of the tube and I thought, wouldn't it be good if I never had to buy another?

VillageMum · 23/09/2014 14:05

nanny thanks!

Brown ha ha no, we use Pre-seed. I just love the names of these products. I keep reminding myself that I last had a positive test in April, so not that long ago, but boy oh boy it feels like aeons. Due to test tomorrow but as usual I'm trying my best not to think about it. For some reason I thought your appointment was next week - is it this Friday or Saturday?

brownstag · 23/09/2014 15:06

It ought to be next week but Mr S is getting very booked up in Harley Street so this is a cancellation, Friday at 4. Probably pointless in terms of seeing anything but I will feel better for talking about pred side effects, etc. Can they test for hCG in Harley Street, does anyone know?
I'm sure Pre-seed and ConceivePlus are virtually identical so equally effective.
Good luck for tomorrow.

brownstag · 23/09/2014 15:35

Bum. I may have to cave in with the tests as I just double-checked my appointment and it's on Monday! It did seem strange he was in Harley Street on a Friday.

VillageMum · 23/09/2014 16:03

brown don't test, give yourself the week off! By Monday you should be that much closer to 6 weeks and able to see something more meaningful. But thinking of you whatever you decide.

brownstag · 23/09/2014 17:04

Hoorah! 3+!

brownstag · 23/09/2014 17:06

Our posts crossed, sorry, Village. I really did consider not testing but found myself in the chemists, and then in the school loos ... But yes, at 5 + 6 on Monday there might be something to see so that's better.

VillageMum · 23/09/2014 18:03

Brown yippee! Now you can, ahem, "relax" until Monday! Grin

brownstag · 23/09/2014 18:34

Thank you; yes, I hand over the testing baton to you. :)

swlondonnanny · 24/09/2014 08:44

Brown yey - 3+
Village hope positive result for you today

Arianrhod · 24/09/2014 09:05

lol brown Are you singlehandedly keeping the hpt market afloat? Ok, you got your 3+, now STEP AWAY FROM THE TESTS! :)

I do understand the compulsion to see that strong line day after day, but as well as breaking the bank, they don't really do THAT much for your peace of mind. Try to hold out until you get your scan - and remember that 5+6 may well still be too early to see anything useful, so don't panic if that turns out to be the case! If you can't get an appropriately-timed scan with Mr S you could always schedule a private one for say 7 weeks - if your EPU won't help out? Have you spoken to them - I was pleasantly surprised when my EPU insisted on seeing me at 6+2 for an early scan (after all my miscarriages), you may find yours equally willing to help?

BFN this morning on FRER at 10DPO. Snow white, polar white. Captain Oates could easily take a long walk on there. Feel grumpy, grumpy!!

Arianrhod · 24/09/2014 10:26

Oh buggerit village, sorry to hear that. That being said, on a natural cycle pregnancy I never saw any positive until 12dpo ... do you usually see results this early??

OP posts:
VillageMum · 24/09/2014 10:49

Ari no, only got a positive this early once, and that was with the chemical I had in April. Previously, in the good old days before SO and pred, I always waited to test till 12DPO because I never used to see anything any earlier. Will test again over the next couple of days and will then sell my shares in the HPT market!! How are you doing?
