Fantastic news duggs! Another step closer.
ari I guess you just have to trust what penny is telling you. Very frustrating though.

suemays · 08/03/2014 18:42

mel when I first took preds in 2011 they stopped my periods so it can happen. It affected me the first month of taking them so be careful. No point in taking them if it stops you getting pregnant.

Mel3062 · 08/03/2014 20:37

Exactly thanks sue :( just don't know which one is causing it the pred or cyclogest

Just booked it all tonight. Fly out Fri, ET and intralipids Sat and back Sat late afternoon. Well the lovely young egg is one thing, just hoping that my aging 'baby room' as Penny calls it is up to the task! :)

Arianrhod · 08/03/2014 23:02

Still no joy mel?

Mel3062 · 09/03/2014 06:27

Ari I'm so pleased you're going to give it a go and I wish you all the luck in the world, try put your faith in penny xx
No sign still though got usual hormonal headache so hoping she shows soon I'm so no periods now :(

I really think starting pred on day 7 has been abit early!

OP posts:
suemays · 09/03/2014 08:15

It messed my cycles up for about 6 months so I went on super OV and got pregnant the first month of trying. I lost that one so then had a break from TTC and preds for 3 months then fell preg again first month of TTC (lost that one too). I think for some people they can effect ovulation. I had a 21 day test at my gp during the 6 months which confirmed ovulation had stopped.

Mel3062 · 09/03/2014 08:34

Oh my god how awful :( I had about 8 months on super ovulation without any luck
I'm def not preg as today is 14 days since last time we Dtd
I'm so annoyed :(

OP posts:
duggs1976 · 09/03/2014 09:23

I have to say I ended up doing about 8 super ovulation attempts with letrozole and then even gonal F and nothing. I am not sure how useful it is when we are ovulating normally? Every other time in my conception history I've gotten pregnant within 6 months or less. The theory sounds good more eggs but I'm not sure what it does to the quality of those eggs if u have no ovulatory issues before hand. I could be wrong but apart from kittens I am not sure who has had a live birth from super ovulation on the thread??

Mel3062 · 09/03/2014 09:33

Thanks duggs, I agree with you I don't think it helped me in fact I was on it from April 2012 when I saw him and conceived may 2013, I still have meds in the fridge!

BellyD · 09/03/2014 15:12

Duggs great news about your 7 week scan, as you say - a great start.

Mel sorry to hear there is no sign on AF, how frustrating. I can't really help on the Pred front I'm afraid as the first time I took it from ov i felt so dreadful coming off it I only then have ever taken it from a bfp. Hope she arrives soon so you can move forward.

Ari good to hear you are all booked for Greece. Will keep everything crossed for you and hope Penny works her magic for you.

Hope everyone enjoying the beautiful day.

Arianrhod · 09/03/2014 16:35

I'm convinced pred has messed up my ovulation too .. cd16 today and still absolutely no sign of it, the lines aren't even getting darker. I'm supposed to be starting progesterone tomorrow which presumably puts paid to any LH surge so I guess I won't ovulate at all this month. Not that I suppose it really matters but I so wanted this to be as natural s cycle as possible so that my body was producing its own progesterone. Oh well, I suppose that's more thing I can't have the way I wanted, we should all be used to that by now!

belly What's happening with you and your mock cycle?

Mel3062 · 10/03/2014 06:28

Another neg test and migraine from hell. I'm tempted to just stop the pred, clexane and cyclogest today rather than wait until tomorrow, what do you think? I know I'm not preg and don't want my body any more messed up :(

Lovely outbreak of spots on forehead too I guess that's the dhea!!

Crikey these drugs are just horrible, aren't they? So sorry you're suffering mel. It's hard to know what to say for the best; I suspect like you I'd be tempted to stop today, but at the same time, there's always the thought 'what if?'. It's one more day - do you think you could cope with another day, just for complete peace of mind? Big hugs.

brownstag · 10/03/2014 09:31

I wouldn't give up on ovulating this month, ari. In all the years I've been ttc, I've never not ovulated as far as I know, although it has been as late as CD 23. Every time it's been late I've been convinced it won't happen but it does eventually. Maybe it's performance anxiety. :)
Duggs*, so pleased for you!
Anyone who's interested in melatonin for egg quality, I now have been taking 1mg melatonin for about 5 days and going well. Good sleep, yes, but I was sleeping well prior to this anyway. Not brave enough to go up to 3mg as recommended though. What I am pleaed with is that this cycle I haven't had a false LH surge from day 8 which I have been getting lately.
Going to ring up for my FSH results this afternoon, after my sister's early menopause. Gulp

brownstag · 10/03/2014 09:32

Mel, did you ever start checking your temperature? That's the only sure way to tell (except for a blood test) if you've ovulated, although not if you're using Cyclogest.

brownstag · 10/03/2014 09:34

Also, Mel, if you're getting acne so soon, I would definitely get a saliva DHEA test (with Verisana, for instance) in case you don't need it. It took a long time for me to get acne with it, maybe because my natural levels are so low.

Arianrhod · 10/03/2014 09:50

Hey brown .. yes, I was thinking something along those lines too, looking back through my records every time I've had some kind of surgical procedure my ov had been on CD18 rather than CD13 the following cycle. However, since I will be starting progesterone tomorrow (not today; got my days wrong) and today is CD17 with still absolutely no sign of ov, the progesterone will stop the LH surge anyway. shrug c'est la vie, I guess.

Does the melatonin override the night-time waking that pred causes? Very interesting to hear it's got rid of your false positive LH surge - just goes to show what a delicate balance our hormones are, and how little can affect them. Do let us know about your FSH results and remember, even if your sister has early menopause doesn't mean you will :)

mel I'd echo brown's comment about getting your DHEA tested - if you have good natural levels already, adding in more can upset the balance of your hormones and you don't want that!

brownstag · 10/03/2014 10:16

Ari, I haven't taken melatonin with pred yet, so couldn't say. One day on melatonin I actually woke 5 times during the night but went back to sleep again each time. It feels like a pokey drug, but yet not like a sleeping pill. I feel more refreshed when waking up.
The best thing for sleep quality I have found is 2 kiwis before bed. There's a study to show it helps and I have found it infallible. You could also try eating a banana or porridge before bed, to keep your blood sugar levels going through the night. After all, better to do it naturally if you can, with all the drugs we take.

Arianrhod · 10/03/2014 11:11

2 kiwis .. hmm .. I love kiwi fruit, I shall have to try that, thank you! My sleep is shot to pieces right now, between adrenal issues, prednisolone and my snoring OH :( . I'll try anything, thank you!!

Duggs that's brilliant news, so pleased for you. I sooo hope this is the one! Hope the mentalling isn't too bad!

Ari how exciting that everything is now booked!!! You just need to try and stay positive now, if Penny is happy with everything them try not to worry (I know it's obviously easier said than done! How is your father in law doing?

Mel sorry you are having a bit if a mare, I think these drugs have a lot to answer for!

Had a weird cycle myself this month, felt like oh was arriving for about three days but nothing. Weas light headed, a bit dizzy, a bit bad tempered etc just no bleeding. Eventually arrived late yesterday so day 35. Wonder if it was to do with pred from ivf last cycle...

brownstag · 10/03/2014 12:11

Maybe the moon has been playing up. Isn't that about 4 of us who have just had a very long cycle?
