Hope this is right ladies ...

Mel3062 · 05/02/2014 06:26

Yes it's still £303 provided I'm on lowest dose. Will I need them every month of trying??
I've asked superdrug cost too so wel see, I'll prob get it all at Alcura at least you know they have everything! X

OP posts:
Arianrhod · 05/02/2014 09:37

Mmm I can't answer that one I'm afraid mel, I only know what Serum's protocol is with neupogen and with that, I didn't start taking it until I think it was day 7 of the cycle I did egg transfer. What's the price at Alcura, if you don't mind me asking? I'm going in to Asda on Friday to see if they have it yet, I'll let you know how I get on!

Mel3062 · 05/02/2014 11:17

Thanks af has arrived early so need to get a wiggle on!! They quoted 30 miu vial £303.05 (pack of 5)

48 miu singleject } £483.33 (pack of 5)

OP posts:
Arianrhod · 05/02/2014 11:57

Crikey ... those 48miu ones are £420 for 5 if you buy them at Serum. We're being ripped off in this country :(

Mel3062 · 05/02/2014 12:37

My doctors have just saved me £316!! I gave them my script for cyclogest, clexane and pred and they've done it for me and I get free pres because of thyroxine. Alcura quoted £316 for it. Wonder if it will work with neopegen!!!
I'm thinking of doing intralipid with independent nursing serv they charge £103 not £265,may be worth going to London for! It's a nightmare isn't it!!

OP posts:
Arianrhod · 05/02/2014 13:06

Oh wow! Now that's a bit of good news indeed! What made you ask? I asked before when I was under Mr S and my GP said she couldn't prescribe the pred as it wasn't standard treatment for fertility issues.

I always use INS for my intralipids, they are very good and as you say, cheap!!

Mel3062 · 05/02/2014 14:13

Apparently I take the neopegen after ovulation?

OP posts:
Arianrhod · 05/02/2014 15:32

Is that Dr G's protocol? Ok, that differs from Serum then, but I don't suppose it matters since you're just aiming to raise your WBC and I would guess 2 weeks is plenty of time to do that?

Mel3062 · 05/02/2014 18:01

What's WBC?? I haven't got pres yet that's what email says. I assume it's 5 injections a month? Do they do intralipids on Saturdays?
Sorry for all the questions I know nothing about neopegen!!

Hi Ladies

Just posted on the other thread, but wanted to pop in here to say hi too.

Pebbles so sorry for your bfn, was so hopeful for you.

Duggs glad you are forging ahead with your Serum plans. Penny sounds brilliant.

Ari good luck with your endo scratch and aqua scan. It's great that you are looking forward to going back to Serum. Fingers crossed.

We have also arrived at the DE route. DH has come to terms with it much more quickly than I have, but ultimately I just couldn't keep pumping my body with drugs with very little hope of any success, and using a donor will give us a much better chance. So we have been researching and been to see Jane Knight, the brilliant fertility counsellor at Zita West, who put us in touch with a lovely lady who has had a DE baby. Zita West gave us a list of clinics that they work with and as they are going to be supporting the immune side of the things we have gone with one of their suggestions, IVF Spain. A bit alarmingly there is hardly anything about them on any of the forums but they have seemed very professional so far. We are flying to Alicante for the day tomorrow for an initial consultation - ahhhhhh! I never thought that we would be here but now that we are I have found new levels of positivity.

Hi to Brown, Mel, Lemon and anyone else I've missed x

Pebbles73 · 05/02/2014 21:05

Havl had my mum staying so not had a chance to look into donor eggs yet but I do agree that it seens to be the way forward.

Will get our details filled in in Serum's website and then see what Penny thinks should be our next option. Dh hadn't had sperm fragmentation test so she will probably suggest getting that done.

Duggs will you be going for donor eggs also or having a go with your own? The sucsess rate is so much higher I believe with donor eggs and I like the idea of having a much larger chance of getting pregnant.

Mel you are certainly throwing everything at this and so hope it does the trick, everything crossed!

Where would be good for everyone to meet, I don't know where you are Ari?

Pebbles73 · 05/02/2014 21:12

Sorry Belly started message earlier and didn't refresh before posting. Wow you must be excited about the consultation and I know exactly what you mean about the drugs and knowing you have such a better chance of success with de. How do you feel about it all? Hope consultation goes well, please let us know how you get on.

Stopped taking pred yesterday and feel awful today with such a bad headache that nothing will touch. I look forward to the day when I never have to take steriods!

Arianrhod · 06/02/2014 08:36

mel WBC is White Blood Cell (count). Neupogen injections are every day, where did you get the 5 injections a month from?? Usually you have neupogen (daily) to about 12 weeks pg, but different protocols vary a bit on that. It gets v expensive! ILs on Saturday, I'm not sure, give INS a call, they're very helpful.

pebbles I'm in Woking, so anywhere around London is usually good for me. If DH hasn't had sperm fragmentation test it's entirely possible that may be your issue ... definitely I would say you need to get him tested? As duggs says, Serum will do this for you on the spot and it's a heck of a lot cheaper than doing it here!

belly Exciting news!! Have you tried the Spain board on FF to find others going to your clinic? www.fertilityfriends.co.uk/forum/index.php?board=356.0 Lots of luck, I really hope it works out for you!

Arianrhod · 06/02/2014 08:36

Meant to make it clickable, sorry! www.fertilityfriends.co.uk/forum/index.php?board=356.0

duggs1976 · 06/02/2014 22:08

Pebbles, ari and now belly D!! Wow....egg donor route.. Young, fertile twenty something's. I can't wait to hear about your journeys. We are planning on cycling at serum in Athens and testing half my eggs with donor sperm and half with DH sperm. Freezing donor sperm embryos if any. Transferring our embryos if any. If that fails then will pay for egg donor cycle and doing same thing. Hoping for DH sperm transfer and freezing donor embryo. If fails then transfer the donor embryo.

Should be 3k euros plus meds then 5k euros plus small amount of meds for natural cycle FET.

Wish I could get on with it now but can't start until may. April is when I need to get to Athens for hysteroscopy and consultation....ari is there no way around the hysto? What do u think?

Belly how did it go in alicante? Would love to hear all......x

Mel3062 · 07/02/2014 05:17

Um not sure where I got 5 from for neopegen :/ I think it's because Alcura give them in packs of 5 so I assumed. Oh boy how can I afford that all of the time :/ umm have to see what pres says when it comes
Good luck to you all, exciting stuff, I pray this time next year is do different for us all x

OP posts:
Arianrhod · 07/02/2014 13:47

mel They always seem to be prescribed in packs of 5 vials, not sure why. You'd better check how often you're supposed to use it - it does get expensive, I can vouch for that!!

duggs I can only say I found the hysto to be essential - you'd be astonished at what state your uterus can be in, and you not be aware. Especially if you've tested positive ever for the Greek infection tests - you have, haven't you? Plus they do deep implantation cuts, which help a lot with implantation rates I'm told, and they last up to 6 months unlike an endo scratch which only lasts a month. Seriously, take the extra month, I would - you may well find it's very worth it.

belly How did you get on??

lemonsherbet · 07/02/2014 15:24

belly very excited to hear how you got on in Spain. i have only heard good things about the Spanish clinics. It sounds like the beginning half of this year is going to be exciting for everyone. duggs I remember Ari scan at new life was clear and then she went to Athens only for scarring to show up. It sounds like they have more time to look properly. I would go with the scan if it was me.

Arianrhod · 07/02/2014 15:55

That's true lemon, not only was a scan in the UK clear but also the hysto I had at New Life, they said everything was fine. But seeing the DVD of the hysto in Athens (not a pleasant experience, seeing a big pair of scissors snipping away at your insides!!) you could very clearly see all was NOT clear, there was loads of scar tissue there. Nothing would have implanted.

Arianrhod · 07/02/2014 15:56

Penny did say they are specialists in this procedure at the hospital in Athens, whereas she said a lot of doctors don't really know what they're seeing. And the pregnancy success rates following a hysto are pretty impressive too.

Arianrhod · 07/02/2014 15:57

I should say, following a hysto in Athens, not just a general hysto anywhere! Wish we could edit our posts after we've posted them :)

duggs1976 · 07/02/2014 16:42

That's made me feel better then. Will book in for April for hysto.... Ari do you know from your experience about flights I'm looking at easyjet for April and Ryanair in May as they seem to have best deals. Also where did u stay? In May we are hoping to go to an island near by and make a holiday of it x looking out eagerly for bellys update. Pebbles we could all have a joint holiday together in May haa ;-)

BellyD · 07/02/2014 21:25

Hola! We had a really good day yesterday. The clinic was lovely and modern and everyone was very friendly. We saw a Russian/German doctor who had worked in the US so spoke great English. She was really positive about our chances - said there was a 90% chance of getting pregnant over three cycles as they guarantee 11-16 eggs with a blasto rate of 50%. They did over 1000 cycles last year. The only slightly annoying element was that the Doc clearly hadn't looked at our notes until we were sitting in her office, but I don't know about you guys, we have found generally found this to be the case with any new specialist. As she was armed with all our many many test results that we had sent in advance it was a bit frustrating to have to spell everything out to her. Basically how they operate is by running a dummy cycle to see how your womb lining thickens up by taking progynova (I started taking the pill to prepare me for this yesterday) so they can adjust your actual cycle if need be and then they sync you with the donor for the real cycle. I have a scan at Zita West just to see how my lining is looking. DH did a sperm sample which she said was good enough for him to be a donor (he was v chuffed at that!) and I had a scan to see if my womb lining was ok. I asked about scarring and she said you would be able to see it on the scan, which makes me a bit nervous after all your hysteroscopy chat. She has given me Pred (although only 10mg) and I have to have ivig 3 weeks before transfer, on the day of transfer and 3weeks afterwards if I get Preg. Zita West are going to liaise with them on this. You had to list 5 things in order of priority to match you with the donor: fertility, Bmi, hair and skin colour, eye colour and education and we added sporty. They have a pool of 500 donors that are all under 30 and mainly Uni students. We were there for 4 hours and then they gave us a voucher for a set menu around the corner, which was lovely and details of apartments where we can stay which we went to check out. Then we caught the tram in to Alicante, had a wander about and checked out a couple of hotels and then caught the bus back to the airport. It was a 20 hr day, but worth it. When we were wandering around Alicante I kept looking at young ladies and thinking ooh do you look like me?! Anyway we are scheduled to go back between 4-10th April for Dh to Dtd and then wait for transfer. All a bit daunting but exciting at the same time. Not getting our hopes up, as we all know getting pregnant is just half the battle. Sorry for the massive post, but I know some of you wanted to know. I think we are all in for a big few months ladies. I so hope that 2014 is the year for us all.

duggs1976 · 07/02/2014 22:14

Oh amazing belly D... This is so exciting Grin lovely to hear how things went. I wouldn't worry about the hysteroscopy I for one know my last disaster happened before an embryo even went back inside me so it isn't as if that has been my problem all along. Can I ask you how much everything is including zita west or are you not yet sure? Those odds are fabulous and it really makes me relaxed to hear them!

Arianrhod · 08/02/2014 15:27

belly It all sounds brilliant, please keep us updated as you go through it all!
