Fat mummies sit there in front of the television with their chip packets and say skinny models are ugly," says Lagerfeld. Is he BU?

From this article

I think it is a hilarious comment - obviously extremely offensive, very stereotypical - really horrible - but is there a grain of truth in it?? For me, it would be more truthful if it said "fat mummies sit in front of their laptop" but other than that...

Of course he's BU . Mind you KL is a mad as a box of frogs.

But as I am a shallow fashion bimbo I can forgive him (almost) anything. Have been enjoying the repeat of the secret world of haute couture on BBC4 this week.

Alouiseg · 28/03/2010 14:57

He's forgiven, he should get over to the lapdancing thread to clarify his salient points ;-)

They'd love him there.

Well he may be right but I suspect he and I would differ on how we define 'fat'.

BariatricObama · 28/03/2010 15:01

what size in the 'plus' sized woman on the far right in the photograph? 10 12?

yes, clearly whole Elle spread is ridiculous and these women are size 12 or 14 at the most, so not very "plus" if you ask me.

KL is hilarious though...

I may sit in front of the TV with a snack but I'd never take laxatives or stick my fingers down my throat to be thin.
The fashion/beauty industry makes a lot of money out of making folk feel insecure.
Oh, and I won't be watching skinny models because I'm not remotely interested in them.
KL is barmy anyway.

AnyFucker · 28/03/2010 15:19

KL died 25 years ago

what you see now is a stuffed effigy on wheels

shockers · 28/03/2010 15:20

BTW... I'm not having a pop at those who have eating disorders... more the industry who feeds off the myth that we should all look like heroin addicts.

Rockbird · 28/03/2010 15:26

I don't give a toss what he thinks, what really gets me is why he has to hone in on 'mummies'. If he had said fat women I wouldn't even be on this thread but yet again mummy is used as an insult. Nice.

cornsilk · 28/03/2010 15:30

I am not fat but
Karl Lagerfeld is surely
an ignorant twat

AnyFucker · 28/03/2010 15:32

I am not fat either

but he is still stuffed

FalafelAtYourFeet · 28/03/2010 15:33

AnyFucker-

WERE YOU IN MY HOUSE LAST NIGHT EAVESDROPPING ON MY CONVO?

LOL. Was having same discussion with BF last night and we agreed he was in fact dead.

AnyFucker · 28/03/2010 15:34

erm....

Bucharest · 28/03/2010 15:35

He's very orange to say he's dead.

AnyFucker · 28/03/2010 15:36

it is corpse make-up

I am a fat mummy, and of course skinny models are ugly. Jealous, moi?

cyteen · 28/03/2010 15:43

Karl Lagerfeld = beef jerky with shades on.

AnyFucker · 28/03/2010 15:43

lol @ beef jerky

dawntigga · 28/03/2010 15:46

Either end of the weight spectrum is unhealthy. The isshooo I have with stick thin models is that they bear absolutely no resemblence to real life. Most of the campaigns haven't been stick a fat bird on your magazine cover they've been put a normal size one on.

starkadder · 28/03/2010 15:56

rockbird - that's what I thought was so funny - because it was SO rude - that he specifically said "fat mummies".

But in some ways perhaps "mummies" are more likely to be disapproving of skinny models. Older women in general are more likely to be like this - partly because we're a bit fatter than we used to be (I was a v skinny teenager, constantly being accused of being anorexic - this is no longer a problem for me ) but mostly because we're older and wiser than we used to be. For "mummies" in particular, we don't want our children to grow up thinking that only thin can be beautiful.

I think, overall, I take it as a compliment from M. Beef Jerky On Wheels.

'Most of the campaigns haven't been stick a fat bird on your magazine cover they've been put a normal size one on.'

and then call them fat plus!
