I wonder which former devotee wrote this?

No such thing as bad publicity? Or does it make us look like a bunch of beeeatches?

OP posts:

LOL now this thread is back at the top of "Most Active Threads"...

OnlyQuoteMeInTheTelegraph · 14/02/2010 12:54

Bonsoir, are you Oliver North?

Bonsoir · 14/02/2010 12:54

I'm picturing Justine, Carrie, Gerry etc all poring over this thread...

Bumperlicious · 14/02/2010 12:55

Actually Bonsoir, I agree with your last post, except the last paragraph. I hate the 'it's not real, don't get so upset' arguments.

AitchTwoOhOneOh · 14/02/2010 12:55

i'm picturing them all making sunday lunch.

smallorange · 14/02/2010 12:55

By the way, copyright belongs to the photographer not the subject. You can publish any pic you want as long s thebphotigeapher gets his/ her cut ( and woe betide you if you do not credit them)

I do think Justine needs to get a new pic out there though, it's not very good.

AitchTwoOhOneOh · 14/02/2010 12:56

oh btw yyy to aquavit re rude and blunt.

Bonsoir · 14/02/2010 12:57

No, they are getting their keyboards greasy with a lunch cooked for them while monitoring this

AitchTwoOhOneOh · 14/02/2010 13:00

i do know, thanks to my privileged position as 'MN contributor', that the whole site gets beamed into their robot heads while they're doing photoshoots. hth.

Nancy66 · 14/02/2010 13:00

The use of a stock library picture to illustrate a story means absolutely sod all.

noddyholder · 14/02/2010 13:01

Bonsoir you are going to be pulled up again as we didn't say that!I said its like a living magazine to ME and thats how I treat it.I didn't say it wasn't real just had the mags on the shelves are full of real people and their stories but the impact on my RL is minimal. All the friends I have made on MN I see socially and virtually never engage with them here as it really is that seperate for me.

noddyholder · 14/02/2010 13:01

just as the mags

Bonsoir · 14/02/2010 13:04

foxinsocks: "yes I feel the same noddy. This isn't real is it?" (my bold)

noddyholder: "No foxinsocks thats how I feel Its like a living magazine to me"

You didn't agree here with foxinsocks that "this isn't real"?

smallorange · 14/02/2010 13:08

Also the piece seems to be a bit of filler on a slow week.

I doubt there is any great conspiracy. Newspapers really aren't that organised. They probably just needed to fill some space and this was an easy piece yo write about something topical. Stock photo, job done.

I do wonder if Carrie and Justine wince at the bumsex and general gutter talk on mumsnet now that it is becoming far more 'establishment.'

I wonder whether moderation will become more heavy handed.

Bumperlicious · 14/02/2010 13:08

Times haven't published my comment yet, the badgers.

God I've got to get off here and off the sofa. I've done nothing but sit on the sofa under the duvet pathetically while DD watches Dora. Must go out to the park

FrankieValli · 14/02/2010 13:09

i think carrie is away tbh.

Bonsoir · 14/02/2010 13:11

Yes, we all know that we cannot ever access the internet when we go away...

FrankieValli · 14/02/2010 13:13

you might choose not to do some work, or be up a mountain or summat.

or in a yurt.
god what happened to the mumsnet YUrt

Bonsoir · 14/02/2010 13:15

Yes, you might. IPhones don't work up all mountains quite yet . Soon, I believe...

frakkinaround · 14/02/2010 13:16

My iPhone works up moutains. Well, the ones here anyway, which is rather handy or I would have no phone when we go for hikes!

violethill · 14/02/2010 13:18

Mine does too..... not that I'm sad enough to use it while enjoying the views from the summit!

Bonsoir · 14/02/2010 13:19

Oh hi frakkin . What do you think - Carrie, Justine et al are MNers' benevolent guardians who sometimes accidentally find themselves with a teensy bit of press coverage, or is there something a bit more ambitious going on at MNHQ

frakkinaround · 14/02/2010 13:23

6 of one, half a dozen of the other IMVVVHO. I think there are some PR machinatinos going on, I'm not entirely convinced this article is one of them but then again there is no such thing as totally negative publicity...

I'm nowhere near qualified to judge though!

frakkinaround · 14/02/2010 13:24

Machinations even.

Bonsoir · 14/02/2010 13:30

I completely understand Carrie and Justine wanting to develop their business - all that hard work, of course they want it to go places and to make an impact and for them to get rich.

What I don't understand is MNers not being more curious about that and wanting to know how their input posting is being used to that end.
