I wonder which former devotee wrote this?

No such thing as bad publicity? Or does it make us look like a bunch of beeeatches?

OP posts:
smallorange · 14/02/2010 13:32

It's in the IT section FFS

FrankieValli · 14/02/2010 13:32

id nto blame them for wanting to bin the sex thing.
utterly embarassing imo

Bonsoir · 14/02/2010 13:32

Well it's hardly front page news, is it?

FrankieValli · 14/02/2010 13:33

not like the big MN bust up over moldies.

must try harder

noddyholder · 14/02/2010 13:36

Ok first I missed the party Now the sex thing? What sex thing? Sorry bonsoir I stand corrected

Bonsoir · 14/02/2010 13:36

You don't do PR by making the headlines. You do it by drip feeding into the back pages.

smallorange · 14/02/2010 13:38

Well that's my point. There's no great conspiracy. Hardly anyone will read it.

She probably wrote it on her iPhone while onthe bus to work

mamazon · 14/02/2010 13:41

if a website no longer suits you then do not conitnue to post.

don't lurk in order to gain evidence simply to slag it off in the media.

poor poor show.

but hey ho, the bitchier we appear to be the more i like it. frankly it will hopefully dissuade yet more journo's turning up to poach simply because they can't be fecked to do some proper work.

FrankieValli · 14/02/2010 13:44

lol at mners htinking journos get stories by dressing like this and likcing the end of a pencil

theladyevenstar · 14/02/2010 13:44

I love this site. I have come on here and whined about my eldest many times and through it i have made a lot of progress because of the STRAIGHT TALKING which can be interpreted as bitchiness.
If not for MN there would be times when i was pulling my hair out and tbh this article is pretty poor imo!!!

certain sections of newspapers are there to report and comment on every day life and popular culture - of which MN is a big part.

Writing about MN isn't lazy journalism - it's relevant.

OrmRenewed · 14/02/2010 13:51

From the POV of a poster rather than a denizen of MN Towers, I don't care about publicity, good or bad. I'm words on a screen - that is all - it doesn't hurt me if a loads of Times readers end up with the impression that we're a load of bitches. Who cares?

smallorange · 14/02/2010 13:55

Stayfrosty- I agree with that too. Also in the way posters are portrayed. Yes there are snobs and idiots but there are also fascinating points of view expressed on this forum but the media prefers the 'yummy mummy mumsnet bitches' vs the 'hard working salt of the earth too busy to use the Internet' angle.

I really enjoy the humour and straight talking from other women on here. Other forums seem to assume you had a lobotomy as soon as you conceived your first child.

That said - the culture of AIBU slips into other topic areas and it's brutal sometimes.

mrspoppins · 14/02/2010 13:55

It wasn't a bad article...It's just a point of view...and we all have them..it's just that some of us can express them without the need to f and blind! I'm with Belgo

I will now wait for my dressing down!!!

victoriascrumptious · 14/02/2010 13:56

I don't understand why people are so sensitive about the internet. It's not like your posting as Doris Jones of 5 Windermere Lane. So who gives a fuck?

Incidentally my invitation to the party came yesterday on the basis that I am one of the "top 100 most influential mumsnet posters".

I also got voucher for 5 free drinks at the bar an a coupon for 20% off at Boden. Bargain!

noddyholder · 14/02/2010 13:58

Well I am never going to agree with someone who prefers a sweet 10 yr old to a bitchy teenager.

Jux · 14/02/2010 14:29

Well, I would never have stayed even remotely sane over the last 6 months without mn urging me on, 'listening' to my woes and being thoroughly sympathetic and helpful and kind.

You can find anything on a site if you look for it and ignore the rest if it doesn't fit with what you happen to want to say.

Still, we all know the truth so we don't have to care what she says, do we?

foxinsocks · 14/02/2010 14:30

lolol victoria

it isn't real though bonsoir. I don't know you, never will most likely. I respect people's opinions on here and I come here mainly to have a laugh and sometimes to talk about a few more serious things/get information but tbh, I have enough serious things in real life.

The internet is no replacement for real life but it's a great addition to it imo and I think that's the best way to view it (in my very honest opinion).

Now back to the guest list

so we have aitch
Isabel
Caitlin
morningpaper

we're not doing very well are we lol

morningpaper · 14/02/2010 14:39

It's not ME

am in queue for London aquarium and slightly insane

foxinsocks · 14/02/2010 14:46

no dear, we're past that stage

now we think you're invited to the party though

but our list isn't very long

ahundredtimes · 14/02/2010 14:48

It just an opinion, and as such it's not wrong.

I think it can be v playground on here, and often totally bonkers. But I think that might be an internet thing?. My god, CIF on The Guardian is the most bitterest playground I ever did see.

ahundredtimes · 14/02/2010 14:49

What are you making lists of Foxy?

foxinsocks · 14/02/2010 14:50

oooh ahundred, how lovely to see you

we were making lists of people invited to the party. Well I was. And no-one was really playing other than Bumper who guessed the one person I have on my list .

ahundredtimes · 14/02/2010 14:55

lol.

I think I know who is on the list.

I always come on MN when I'm meant to be packing. It's like a tic.
