I wonder which former devotee wrote this?

No such thing as bad publicity? Or does it make us look like a bunch of beeeatches?

Bumperlicious · 14/02/2010 12:35

Hey Foxy, I'm helping - and I guessed Aitch right

OnlyQuoteMeInTheTelegraph · 14/02/2010 12:36

AitchTwoOhOneOh · 14/02/2010 12:37

i'd imagine anyone who's done stuff for them like the newsletter or reporting from summits or mars and the tv gals would be invited.

noddyholder · 14/02/2010 12:38

I would hate to go to a MN party!Until articles like this and biscuitgate appear in the press I am happy to live in the delusion that MN is a little club in the corner of my study with a comfy chair, never ending supply of coffee and a load of mad unreasonable women!

foxinsocks · 14/02/2010 12:39

'Mumsnet - could there be a more vomit-inducing web community of over-helicoptering hysterics
'

lol

Liz Jones - could there be a more bitter, twisted, homophobic old bat on earth

Merrylegs · 14/02/2010 12:41

Ha! Poor Liz Jones. Obviously weaned too early.

foxinsocks · 14/02/2010 12:42

where's bundle gone ?

yes I feel the same noddy. This isn't real is it?

noddyholder · 14/02/2010 12:43

No foxinsocks thats how I feel Its like a living magazine to me

aquavit · 14/02/2010 12:43

You know what I hate about this article? It's the default misogyny ('finger-wagging', 'sanctimonious bossy-boots', etc) that is typical of a lot of journalism. Which is one reason why I don't like the cosiness between the Times and mumsnet, because that paper is full of it.

Wouldn't it be splendid if it wasn't always assumed that a female poster was being bitchy/shrill/spiteful/unsisterly just because she is to-the-point and brief.

Also, I fucking love swearing.

AitchTwoOhOneOh · 14/02/2010 12:43

this is also remarkabl nasty, even for amanda platell mind you, i think she's taken to posting on the sarah brown thread.

i like this from liz. 'But imagine if Mrs Thatcher had gone on TV and blubbed, 'Oh, ever since I gave birth to Mark he's been a constant worry.' what, like when she was on tv and blubbed about him being lost in the desert on some jolly boys outing? liz must've been reading vogue mag that day.

it's a good description actually (your one)

epithet · 14/02/2010 12:45

I don't think I've ever read a 'good' or balanced article about mumsnet. Couldn't somebody here write one, seeing as we're flavour of the month?

lol at all the commenters on that piece being men.

aquavit · 14/02/2010 12:45

Actually, what I mean is - wouldn't it be splendid if it wasn't always assumed that a female poster was being bitchy/shrill/spiteful/unsisterly just because she is rude or blunt.

AitchTwoOhOneOh · 14/02/2010 12:45

excellent description, nod.

violethill · 14/02/2010 12:46

Shall we gatecrash the party?

Would be a laff

Bonsoir · 14/02/2010 12:46

LOL

Why has this thread disappeared from "Most Active Threads" on the right hand side of the page where it has been all morning (and look at the speed of the exchange and where it is all the time in Active Convos) if there is something on this thread that MNHQ doesn't want to be public knowledge?

Bonsoir · 14/02/2010 12:49

isn't

Bumperlicious · 14/02/2010 12:50

Oh Liz, doesn't she realise we can breast feeding and Mumsnet at the same time. That's the only reason so many of us do it!

OnlyQuoteMeInTheTelegraph · 14/02/2010 12:50

From Pratell's piece:

"Perhaps the saddest thing about the death of fashion designer Alexander McQueen is that while he was known to be depressed after the death of his mother, and had attempted suicide before, none of his numerous fab friends could do enough to save him from his despair. In the world of celebrity fashion, it seems 'friends' are as plentiful as they are insubstantial."

Oh yes, because depressed and suicidal people are just in need of better friends . It's all Kate Moss' fault...

Bonsoir · 14/02/2010 12:52

noddyholder and foxinsocks - your position about this "not being real" is... interesting. But, of course, untrue.

We are not, as some posters are wont to say, "just words on a screen". Those words didn't get there by themselves. Real women (and some men) wrote them - mostly people in the UK electorate.

We can let ourselves be deluded into thinking this is some kind of cosy club, and Justine and Carrie are our benevolent guardians. Or we can be aware of the truth.

AitchTwoOhOneOh · 14/02/2010 12:52

she's loathsome, isn't she?

Bumperlicious · 14/02/2010 12:53

Maybe it got sucked into the Bermuda Triangle Bonsoir. Or maybe you've hit so close to the bone that the media are all in cahoots with each other, and probably the government, that MI5 had their technical spies permanently delete it
