Drloves8 - moving to from a small Island to Dunfermline (big town) is fairly normal. The Whicker Man is a film not a documentary.

weegiemum · 22/01/2010 14:06

I don't know much about the case, but used to live in Lewis. There are a lot of young people leave. And no wonder. I don't think its odd at all that he moved so far from home at that age.

At 25 I had lived away from home for 8 years and was married.

drloves8 · 22/01/2010 14:14

crackfox , do you really think i dont understand that?(re wickerman) .my dad lives in ardfern, and i have an uncle on isle of egg. (speling)lol . i was joking.
the point i was making is not being understood . more that to relocate without ties,to hide a past than relocate from a small area.

drloves8 · 22/01/2010 14:15

And DUNFERMLINE is a city . it gained city status years ago.

Northernlurker · 22/01/2010 14:16

I knew it

I understand what you meant - just don't think anything in the facts available to us justifies that conclusion. Hence my assumption that you'd come over all peculiar and would be taking the next boat home!

drloves8 · 22/01/2010 14:24

lol Northen , like i said , im over thinking this.
i was just looking for a reason why the sw "would" act like the baby is at risk , when theres not much to go on thats been reported.
The obvious (to me at least) is to think about things that couldnt have been reported in the media.... like childhood convictions of a serious kind .

it was kat`s post of 01:28 that got me thinking < disclaimer im not blaming kat, i just think it was a good post.we actually know very little about the dad , and my (relocating) point is pure conjecture >.

drloves8 · 22/01/2010 14:36

automatically have parental rights , if named on birth certificate. the SW was moving to get the baby before they left the hospital - so therefore the baby would have been unregistered then, as the dad would have been unable to register the baby himself, being unmarried to the mother. i dont know how fast a parental rights form thingy can be put in or even if theyd be able to get one signed and accepted as the mum has already had doubts cast on her abilities to understand legal forms (re- wedding).

SixtyFootDoll · 22/01/2010 14:46

UNfortunately social services are unable to tell the press their side of this story.

I know from expereince how difficult it is to get Court Orders, so am sure there is far more to this than can be revealed to the papers.

It is a sad story, it is always sad when children are removed from their parents, no matter how awful the circs and is distressing for everyone involved.

I have been present when children are forcibly removed, for very good reasons and it is horrible.

What if the father is really Jon Venables or Robert Thomson under their assumed identity.

suwoo · 22/01/2010 14:55

Actually, on a serious note, what would happen if they did have children?

drloves8 · 22/01/2010 14:59

ohh i see ! thats for the info stewie.
lol suwoo . , i wanted to be the only one on here with a mad conspiracy theory.
But seriously , is he defo the baby-daddy?, is that what mp ment?

drloves8 · 22/01/2010 15:00

thats ? thanks . (duh)

drloves8 · 22/01/2010 15:03

i dunno , i think SW should step in then. wouldnt they have to put their real names on birth certificates or have they been deed-polled into new ones?(venebles and thompson).
God , just think about it someones daughter (or son) might end up with one of them and wouldnt know, thats so wrong.

expatinscotland · 22/01/2010 15:06

'hes an artist (of sorts) and came from the isle of Lewis .
thats a bit . Hes quite young too have moved so far from his origins,'

Oh, yes, that explains everything.

WTF?

My children are from here, a small town in the Highlands, not just 'I know someone who lives there and they're all weird.'

There's only a small college here, so most have to leave their 'origins' for purposes of education when they are 16.

Some even have to leave their 'origins' to board for secondary school.

They are not all criminals or people with something to hide running away.

LOL @ Dunfermline the big city.

expatinscotland · 22/01/2010 15:08

Oh, Fife council, who allowed a convicted sex offender from Wales to live unmonitored in small village, whereupon he seized the opportunity to rape and murder Karen Dewar.

suwoo · 22/01/2010 15:11

I came from a small town in Wales and left as soon as I physically could. It is a curious case though isn't it.

expatinscotland · 22/01/2010 15:15

Are you an artists, su? Because those two things alone are reason for anyone to question the type of person you are, you know?

Cyclops · 22/01/2010 15:20

This shows the power of databases that can be read by other professionals...seems that this family trusted their GP enough to register but had no idea that by doing so, their location would be flagged up to the authorities elsewhere. Is this a good thing?

drloves8 · 22/01/2010 15:23

expat im not saying everyone from lewis is some kind of crim or hiding their past.
just that i thought it a bit strange that there was no mention of family support from him , and wondered.
i did not say people from highlands /isles are "all wierd".
dunfermline is a city (its a small one)
and fife council are very in the wrong in the case of Karen Dewar. (poor girl)...and other sex offenders that they dont moniter enough. but that is a nationwide problem.
But it does show that people do get moved to hide their past.
i just wondered if there was something like that behind the SW`s actions.
i really didnt mean to offend anyone , and unfortunatly i have with you expat....im sorry it was unintentional.

expatinscotland · 22/01/2010 15:26

we have no idea why he doesn't live on lewis anymore (job prospects are often very limited in these areas) or what his background is, though.

we don't know if he was moved or has a criminal background or any of that.

drloves8 · 22/01/2010 15:33

because so little is known about the dad , is precicely why i was wondering these things.
WHY has there been no mention of his family trying to help them? the womans grandmother offered to foster /care for the baby.
IF my son`s girlfriend was deemed unfit and the SW were moving toward placing the baby in care (hypothetical )id be offering to look after baby and help them.
most families would.why not his?
