night night

But it's the bitchy, pedantic, witty nature of MN that makes it special. ANy old parenting site can tell you about nappies, bfing, tax credits and all that stuff. Only MN has added edge!

Mamazon · 27/11/2009 19:04

i can't even be bothered reading it.
#All i would say is great. Im glad we don't appeal to everyone. I like the people we have and i am glad we area next of vipers. (or vest of nippers as i very nearly typed)

pointydogg · 27/11/2009 19:07

s chalmers would probably prefer a site written mor e in her style

EdgarAllenPoo · 27/11/2009 19:08

@ roys - i have only been around a short while, and for the banter...

which is the best thing!

Amaris · 27/11/2009 19:12

Who cares? I find an answer on here to most of life's questions, and it also makes me laugh. Er, and spend too much at Boden - I guess there are some downsides....

scottishmummy · 27/11/2009 19:17

the riposte, straight talking, and mirth make mn very enjoyable. i am glad it isn't overly moderated and the occasional bampot having hissy fit is quite entertaining

and fwiw, dont think cameron or brown got unduly hard time. thought they got some searching questions and felt uncomfortable

it is lazy journalism to reduce it to nappies, there was a serious allocation of resources issue.which to date remains unanswered

DuelingFanjo · 27/11/2009 19:57

"Why can't the majority of posters just accept this woman is entitled to her opinion? That is how she finds MN."

I reserve the right to still think she's a tool. Doubt she's a troll but IMO she is a tool.

Is that not ok?

scottishmummy · 27/11/2009 20:12

thing is noone needs accept anyone opinion in mn or rl. the rub is how people cope with and post about divergent views in an anonymous online forum

and i think there is something in what journalist is saying - some on MN are total bampots

Peachy · 27/11/2009 20:17

I havre recruited someone on the DM forum from my town for the SN dept.

yay!

New friends.

RoysRolls · 27/11/2009 20:18

I take your points and I also hate the "huns" and tickers "only 40 sleeps till Xmas" etc that are predominant on other parenting sites.
I just find some of the swearing (I swear like a trooper if appropriate) a bit excessive. I have seen posters call others a stupid twat etc just because they disagree with them.
And people being made to feel utterly humiliated and the world's worst mother because they behaved in a lest than perfect way in a moment of extreme stress.
I just probably seen enough examples of the supportive stuff.
To be fair I've browsed the AIBU threads mostly.

scottishmummy · 27/11/2009 20:22

have seen people be supportive, funny, kind.not all argy bargy

RoysRolls · 27/11/2009 20:22

And I agree that you don't have to agree with everybody but te initial response from MNers last night to expose this woman as a bitter troll/someone who is ridiculous and stupid and must have obviously not fitted in with the hardcore cool MN gang just stuck me as a little bit playground/Mean Girls.
But what do I know? I used to post on Bounty...

Divatheshopaholic · 27/11/2009 20:23

i actually agree with scottishmummy, mn is better place than before. since moldie gate seems less clique.

RoysRolls · 27/11/2009 20:26

What's moldie gate?

alwayslookingforanswers · 27/11/2009 20:27

hey look I was BORED last night - DH was watching a Stephen King thriller, and needed something to entertain myself, a bit of digging on "who" Sarah Chalmers is was all rather good fun.

Actually - that reminds me - did anyone work out who she is/was on MN?

BitOfFun · 27/11/2009 20:28

Oh Gawd, don't go there- I practically missed Christmas last year in moldie threads...

BitOfFun · 27/11/2009 20:30

Scottishmummy, don't you dare try to pretend that you aren't a bampot who loves the argybargy either- that is OUTRAGEOUS!

CocoLP · 27/11/2009 20:34

Blimey those bounty posters are a bit ermm, enthusiastic.

wahwah · 27/11/2009 20:35

But this journalist is bitchy, smug, patronising and exactly the kind of person she thinks should find a home here, yet she doesn't fit it. Why on earth is that?

Poxy chip paper botherer, go away!

CitizenPrecious · 27/11/2009 20:36

I HATE THE DAILY MAIL: Why one mumsnetter thinks the Daily Mail website is smug, patronising and vicious

...acksherly can't be arsed. After all, it is Friday, and twould take up the entire evening

(took me about 15 minutes just bolding that)

CitizenPrecious · 27/11/2009 20:38

...what was her name, anyone know?

EdgarAllenPoo · 27/11/2009 20:43

i realy think she is fairly bad. i read that other thread, and it is obvious she was paid to do that, yet had no compunction about continuing to push (for the money)

dishonest to say the least. even the people i disagree with strongly and often are more welcome to me than that kind of rubbish.

PerArduaAdNauseum · 27/11/2009 20:52

Um - Roysroyce - I've been on MN for a bit, and I've never seen anyone call another poster a bad mother. Ever. And I've been on some heated threads...

southeastastra · 27/11/2009 20:54

who were you before roys rolls?

NinthWave · 27/11/2009 20:57

a nice present for you, Sarah

Just because MN isn't all hugs and rainbows and puffs of glittery babydust , doesn't mean it isn't a fantastic place to witter about nonsense/join a debate etc.

Sometimes people need honest opinion or solid information far more than they need 'it's yr bubba hun, do wot u thinks best lol hugs'...
