Suri Cruise shopping in high heels... she is 3 FFS!

Sorry I know this not exactly news but seriously IMO this is just wrong!

Am I over reacting or am I right in thinking that 'celebs' should not be leading the way in sexualizing children? There are mothers out there who aspire to be like them and I dread to think that this could end up a trend amongst some...

I realise that there are days were your child may argue and argue to wear toy shoes (fair enough some fights you just can't win) but this seems to be a regular thing wih her.

I think Katie is merely a child minder for Tom Cruises daughter, I imagine that that child does whatever she wants because there's some crap in Scientology that means she is the chosen one and her mother is just a pawn.

Tom Cruise seems like a very controlled and controlling man, poor poor Katie.

mamadiva · 19/11/2009 09:18

Guess your right, I forgot about the whole 'scientology' issue.

Now you mention it, I don't think I've seen him with Suri much, maybe just not photographed but YKWIM.

As far as I understand in Scientology children are viewed as adults.

Scary freaky stuff to be honest.

RockBird · 19/11/2009 10:02

That photo is scary. I covered up her head and the body looks like a 20yo. Why would you do that to your child? What's wrong with children's clothes that they can be children in?

mamadiva · 19/11/2009 10:05

I didn't know that devil

So not only must she live her life infront of the camera she is also not allowed to be a child, that's horrible...

I'd like to know where her socks are. Not only are those shoes high heeled, they are also open-toed and there is no sign she is wearing socks.

TheDevilWearsPrimark · 19/11/2009 10:11

In Scientology-think, children are regarded as the bodies for the next generation:

" It has been been clearly proven that a Thetan is immortal, cannot really experience death nor have it erased by forgetting about it. It is appropriate for the Thetan, who is going to live again, that he urgently try to create something for the future in order to have something to which he can return. Out of this comes the concern about sex. There have to be more bodies for the next life."
L. Ron Hubbard, "The Fundamentals of Thought," page 77
"This is approximately the spiritual state of mind in which a Thetan usually has discovered that his body is dead. His main thought is take up another body. He can do that by finding a small child that he resurrect to life. But normally he goes into a body at the point in time that we describe as the assumption. In most cases, the assumption occurs several minutes after birth. The baby is born, and then the Thetan takes the baby. That is the usual procedure. But the Thetan has perhaps already been in the area for a long time. How do Thetans behave who find that they suddenly no longer have bodies? The behave like people. They hang around people until they see a pregnant woman and then follow her along the street."
L. Ron Hubbard: "Have you lived this Life Before?" page 50

bloody hell!

TheCrackFox · 19/11/2009 10:13

It can't be good for her feet. This isn't the first time I have seen her wearing high heels either. You hardly ever see Tom Cruise with Suri. Maybe Katie is the vessel and Suri is the chosen one who will have bunions by the time she is 18yrs.

WouldYouCouldYouWithaGoat · 19/11/2009 10:19

give her a break, she just wants to wear high heels like daddy.

TheDevilWearsPrimark · 19/11/2009 10:22

ha ha ha

ooh and this is even more shocking poor thing

It looks to me as if those shoes originally had straps across the front that have been cut off (to make them more grown-up?), you can see a little bit left. At least the straps would have given the poor child half a chance of keeping them on.

EvilTwins · 19/11/2009 17:06

She is photographed in those shoes a lot. Am I the only person who thinks that, since she's 3, and liable to throw threenager tantrums, Katie might just be going along with it for an easy life? Which, to be fair, isn't THAT terrible. Honestly, if the paps followed me around, they would get plenty of photos of my DTs going to Sainsbury's in princess dresses. And yesterday, both insisted on wearing swimming costumes all afternoon - not that we were going out, mind you. Suri might wear sensible shoes most of the time, it's just that she's been papped wearing her dressing-up shoes.

Francasaysrelax · 19/11/2009 17:22

at Wouldyoucould you

I don't think heels are a wise choice for a little child's feet.

Tortington · 19/11/2009 17:26

yeah i agree - dressing up shoes although they are probably a heeuva lot more expensive - tabloid insight - oxymoron

thighsmadeofcheddar · 19/11/2009 17:29

agree with evil twins.
we have no idea what life is like for them behind closed doors.

RedSkyInTheMorning · 19/11/2009 22:21

In a word, ridiculous. She's dressed like a grown woman! Not good. And to subject growing feet to high heels is very bad indeed. A three year old dressing up as a grown up and make believe play is one thing, but she is being dressed like this for real and I can't accept that. Let children be children FGS they grow up quick enough as it is! I think it's a strange thing to do to a child tbh.

southeastastra · 19/11/2009 22:26

my sister had some pink ones like that in 1973

mamadiva · 20/11/2009 08:47

Wouldyou LMFAO.

Sorry ahd to bugger off yesterday.

Eviltwins no your not the only one I did say that in the OP... but it is a recurring thing not just her shoes but also her clothes it's like they are just shrinking down Katie's wardrobe so it will fit Suri (or she could just share clothes with Tom )

OP posts:
StealthPolarBear · 20/11/2009 09:01

her clothes are worth £2million
and she'll ahve grown out of them within 6 months

Flame · 20/11/2009 09:09

how is a pair of probably play shoes "dressed like a grown woman"?

she's in leggings and a coat - sensible clothes for small children to play in (ignoring the shoes).

They look more like hissy fit shoes to me, like the days you take them out dressed as a fairy with wellies for an easy life

TsarChasm · 20/11/2009 09:18

Agree with Flame. Lol at 'hissy fit shoes' How I empathise with that! Maybe she was going to throw a king sized wobbly if she couldn't wear her dressing up shoes out.

Pick your battles and all that - sometimes it's easier. My dc went out in some very weird outfits at that age.

The rest of her outfit looks fine to me

TsarChasm · 20/11/2009 09:22

And also look at Katie's expression in that photo. Looks like typical harrassed mum shopping with 3 yr old to me.

TheFoosa · 20/11/2009 09:34

yes I recognise Katie's expression, we've all been there

StealthPolarBear · 20/11/2009 09:40

would people really let a 3yo walk round town in heels that high? (they are very high!)
I genuinely don't know - have a 2yo DS and a 9wo DD, but I'm amazed. People seem so keen to get well fitting shoes, and it's not as though she's just playing round the house (mansion?) in them, she's doing a fair bit of walking. It seems.
