Why do women feel embarrassed of it? Why do they feel they must protect the rapist?

Actually, her behaviour is wholey consistent with someone who has been sexually abused, especially as a young person. I've seen that hard faced, deliberate distancing, matter of fact manner in a fair few women who have been repeatedly sexually assulted as children/teenagers/young women. When she made the allegation there was a sort of "Ah Ha!" click in my head.

I agree Slug. She was abused as a young girl, she talked about that on the Piers Morgan interview. I do believe her but I just don't like the way she cashes in on every aspect of her life, her disabled son, her marriage, now this.

But as things are, and as a direct result of her exercising her prerogative to share some details with the media but hold other information back, there are five or six men previously involved with KP who are actively being discussed all over the Internet as potential/likely rapists. And unless one individual does get publicly identified that's going to hang over all of them indefinitely. Would you hire a presenter/actor/pundit knowing that there's (in broad statistical terms) a 20% chance that he's going to be named as a celebrity rapist? Would you date a man who'd been tarred with the "potential rapist" brush (OK, that's leaving aside the "would you consider for a split second dating any of these men anyway" issue)?

If the media and people who business it isn't are irresponsibly putting out names and casting aspersions on people who, to all intents and purposes, are innocent of wrong doing is that really KP fault completely?

Yes i am aware that KP lovers frequent MN but the only reasons that i can see are

1. it never happened
2. she hasn't been offered enough money yet
3. she is waiting until Peter Amdres next single/album release or her own next book release/horse riding show/opening of an envelope
4. her boyfriend/husband to be has a fight/bit part she is exploiting

Whether it happened or not she has single handledly made every rape victim feel exposed and possibly even humiliated by using this horror in the way that she has done.

As I said on another thread. I would bet my very last £1 that she has Histrionic Personality Disorder. She fits the DSM V criteria to a T.

I don't doubt it happened. I just find it interesting that women are OK to say they have been raped........but know that going any further and naming the rapist is so difficult and frightening and complicated that it is easier to just keep schtum. Same argument that goes on all the time on here about rape.........

The one thing I don't like about how she has handled this is the shrugging off. I realise that it affects everyone differently, but it just seems a little disingenuous to say it was 'just one of those things' because people who are devastated in different ways by rape may feel that their feelings are not valid, and that is sad. It seems she is almost enhancing rape stereotypes ( which of course everyone does to some extent and she is not totally responsible for rape attitudes).........it is just all very depressing.

I have absolutely no experience of the world sleb media apart from buying OK now and again when I've got a long train journey and a couple of hours to kill and I could have predicted the media coverage of it.

To say she didn't know this would happen is plainly ridiculous. She knows exactly how this all works, what to say in her column, what time to be pictured falling out of clubs to get in the papers the next day etc.. She is a pro, its her job.

I always liked Jordan but these rape\allegations disgust me. It is utterly cynical. She knew it would cause a shit storm in the media. And that there would inevitably be speculation about the identity of the rapist.

I though OK! couldn't get any lower after the Jade Goody death stuff - but it seems to have managed it.

This is a horrific crime peddled for our entertainment.

I had the impression that a list of "men KP has dated briefly / been linked with as 'close friends' but is no longer talking to" (aka suspects) could be fairly easily generated from her own autobiography (which, OK, I doubt she actually wrote herself but can't be entirely blamed on "the media") and previous interviews.

Hmm. I find it difficult to believe that she says anything to the media, ever, without thinking about what the consequences will be. It's her job, after all. But let's assume for the sake of argument that she didn't think. Still, she gave one interview where she said (let's assume because she felt hated by the media) "I was raped". It's a cover story and the media go crazy. So then, after she's already seen the media frenzy, she gives another interview in which she says "AND my rapist was a big celebrity!" but somehow does that without thinking about what the consequences would be?

If she were quite that dim or naive she wouldn't have a career at all.

According to the Daily Record (scottish paper) her alleged rapist is a very well known Scots celelbrity!

I don't think it's uncommon for people who have been assaulted to minimise it in order to avoid having to deal with it.

Personally I feel quite sorry for Jordan. Although I admit I only saw her on I'm a celebrity, I haven't watched any of the other stuff and don't read OK etc so I don't "know" her as well as others. I also believe this claim - many men around are rapists, many women get raped, and she mixes with celebrities. It's not exactly unlikely.

Every time I see her sad, embittered face I just think those poor children are screwed for life.
Whether you have been raped, abused, badly treated etc, surely you owe it to your kids, your daughter, to conduct yourself with dignity.

I haven't paid too much attention to this story, but as I understand it, she said she was raped, and then later said it was a celeb who raped her.

If she was only defending her vile boyfriend for his porn film then why go on to say the rapist was a celeb, as that is where all the speculation comes in.

The "celeb" claim of it is whas has driven all the speculation, and a lot of people she has been linked with (or not linked with) are now getting their fingers pointed at them, and that is not really fair on them.

I feel sorry for her, there seems to be a couple of incidents she has mentioned about abuse / rape, which is very sad, but I do think she needs to step out of the spot light for a bit - she seems to have lost a lot of public sympathy after her divorce from Peter, and I do wonder how many people would be disbelieving her (those who are now) if she hadn't lost some of her support.

It's quite obvious why she has spoken about it now and why she won't name the attacker. She spoke about it to keep media focus on her. She makes her living from being on the front of magazines which she achieves by selling her life, which has to be as packed with scandal/incident as possible. Hence why her son's disability was announced during a reality tv show - she met her husband on a reality tv show - she dates slebs and tells people about taking gareth gates' virginity while pregnant, she dresses up in wedding dresses and the paps take pics to start rumours she marrying that lump of meat she's shagging, etc etc. I don't doubt that she was raped. However she spoke out about it only to keep herself front page. What else does she have? Pete may be a crap singer but he makes a living doing it, she's a walking scandal and will only be interesting as long as she delivers more and more.

FWIW I expect she has been advised by lawyers not to reveal the identity as she could well be sued, perhaps she didn't think that far ahead when she spilled, but I doubt that.

I feel sorry for her. She's a damaged woman, she is destroying her body with plastic surgery, she has no self worth except what she sees projected back to her by lads mags and scandal rags, she is sexually disfunctional and narcissistic. She's a mess, basically.
