I think it is a rather nice send off,
Fitting.
Nice to hear others sing his songs

Michael Jackson's defense: "If it's a 35-year-old pedophile, then it's obvious why he's sleeping with little boys. But if it's Michael Jackson, it doesn't mean anything," says Anthony Pellicano. "You could say it's strange, it's inappropriate, it's weird. You can use all the adjectives you want to. But is it criminal? No. Is it immoral? No."

Says it all.

He was a freak and imo,he'd been dead for the last 20 years.

TDiddy · 08/07/2009 13:06

well the courts declared him innocent and the other parents were happy to take cash rather than take him to court (tells you something that). So who are we to declare him guilty?

ilovemydogandmrobama · 08/07/2009 13:08

Ah, shame California doesn't have the Scottish verdict of: 'not proven' which is what happened. That he wasn't found guilty, doesn't necessarily mean he was innocent. The prosecution couldn't prove its case for whatever reason.

daftpunk · 08/07/2009 13:08

TDiddy...i wonder how much of the pay off money went to charity??

slyandgobbo · 08/07/2009 13:08

Courts don't "declare you innocent", they just fail to find sufficient evidence to declare you guilty. Not the same thing.

slyandgobbo · 08/07/2009 13:09

cross-post with mrobama!

MrsMattie · 08/07/2009 13:12

Thoughts:

His kid on the mic - exploitative and weird.

Mariah singing to the coffin - freaky.

Jermaine's rendition of 'Smile' and the Heal the World bit - pukesome.

Stevie W and the Britain's Got (not very much) Talent kid were fitting.

Who is REAL dad of the MJ kids? They're white. Like, white.

Whole thing: made me feel uncomfortable. Thought they should have held off for a few months on a memorial.

Views on Jacko as a paedo? Dunno. Whole situation was weird. Kid's parents were money grabbing bastards. having the sort of money and power Jacko had makes everything warped. he could be an evil abuser who buys silence with money. Equally, he could be totally innocent and exploited by cash-hungry immoral bastards... their silence.

daftpunk · 08/07/2009 13:12

exactly slyandgobbo.....you've nailed it....."they fail to find sufficient evidence".....maybe because there was no crime...

daftpunk - i wonder how much of the payoff money was kept? They settled for money and if they kept any of it then they lose the right to say that he is guilty. The courts found him guilty and we don't know much other than MJ played with kids , kept a monkey etc. and was a bit strnage. We DO NOT know that he was a molester so you can keep speculating....

TDiddy · 08/07/2009 13:15

The courts found him guilty innocent.

Off to do some work now.

daftpunk · 08/07/2009 13:16

yep TDiddy....my guess is they didn't give a dime to charity...

poshwellies · 08/07/2009 13:16

He was the biggest 'groomer' going-picking on dysfunctional families, showering them with cash/gifts.

AitchTwoOh · 08/07/2009 13:17

agree with nancy66.

do you mean the footage of jordy chandler bouncing rhythmically on mj's lap and mj looking like he'd gone to a very happy place in his head, dittany? i've seen that. another

slyandgobbo · 08/07/2009 13:17
AitchTwoOh · 08/07/2009 13:19

so WEIRD that otherwise fairly sensible people are castigating the parents in this rather than the abuser. gawd, that was such a clever defence, they must've known that MJ fans have this gaping blind spot.

TDiddy · 08/07/2009 13:19

slyandgobbo - I was under the impression that you are entitled to say that you are innocent until proven gulity? Pardon my mistake.

AitchTwoOh · 08/07/2009 13:20

yes, sly, and repeats once again that not finding someone guilty is not the same as finding someone innocent. love the not proven verdict, very glad we've got it here.

AitchTwoOh · 08/07/2009 13:22

but not 'found innocent' or 'proven innocent', just 'presumed innocent'. utterly not the same things, so you did make a mistake.

TDiddy · 08/07/2009 13:25

Pendantry and semantics! He wasn't found guilty so his family are entitled to say that he is innocent. Isn't that how it works in the real world?

pigletmania · 08/07/2009 13:25

For me it was a bit cheesey, what about the people who do so much good work and our troops in Afghanistan, they do not get the recognition. However, this is Michael Jackson we are talking about, who is the king of pop and a musical legend, would you expect anything less.

daftpunk · 08/07/2009 13:25

lol slyandgobbo..i know the justice system is far from perfect..i know loads of criminals get away with murder (literally) due to insufficient evidence...but in this case there was insufficient evidence.... because MJ was innocent.

slyandgobbo · 08/07/2009 13:25

Yes, what Aitch send. It's not just semantics.

purplemonkeydishwasher · 08/07/2009 13:26

My DH made a good point the other day. The BEST CASE scenario is that he was like a child living in a grown man's body. He felt most comfortable with 'other' children. BUT he was an adult so could do adult things (like drink alcohol for example) and wanted to share those things with his friends. Except that his friends were children.
so even if he didn't abuse those children (and personally I think he did) his relationship with them was inappropriate.

slyandgobbo · 08/07/2009 13:26

urk, "said", not "send".
