I think it is a rather nice send off,
Fitting.
Nice to hear others sing his songs

This is starting to get a bit sick now. The obvious pleasure that you and your little following are getting from this, Aitch, does not make for comfortable reading at all.

You've gone on and on and on all day about the same bloody thing.

This man was acquitted by a court of law. He is now dead and cannot defend himself.

Surely he must be entitled tio have some peace now.

AitchTwoOh · 09/07/2009 18:16

booze and drugs and MONEY and staff, lulu.

sorry tdiddy, i think i was pretty clear that i wasn't quoting you directly. your point remains, it is fairly normal for an adult to have some sort of erotic something or other around the place. what's not normal is for that adult to sleep with young boys in his bed. one of the main planks of his fans' defence of him is that he's not like other men. well, it seems he was.

Lulumama · 09/07/2009 18:19

I am not one of aitch's followers

nor do i thikn i am sick for discussing something that is current and a huge issue

i have only been reasonable and not made any personal attacks

people discuss things to do with the deceased all the time

when do we discuss this? this part of his life and legacy is as legitimate a dicussion topic as his music

AitchTwoOh · 09/07/2009 18:21

lol bobbysmum, what brings you here again and again and again and again?

tbh i'm not finding it entertaining at all. i'm finding it depressing that celebrity has so warped our culture that people are prepared to accept any old shite so long as the guy's rich and famous. it's disgusting, really, quite depraved.

Lulumama · 09/07/2009 18:23

i think this whole thing proves how far reaching the cult of slebdom is.

that parents would allow their pre pubescent sons to sleep in the same bed ( and that is beyond dispute ) as an adult male.

and that he could get away with outlandish and bizarre behaviour no mere mortal could get away with, because he was Michael Jackson.

AitchTwoOh · 09/07/2009 18:24

arf, didn't see the bit about followers, lulu. what about the dp, tdiddy, rhubarb love-in, bobbysmum, no complaints there i take it?

like lulu (of whom i am indubitably a follower) said, people discuss things to do with dead people all the time. he was an amazing artist but he (imo) was also a child molester and certainly an abuser of his power wrt poor dysfunctional families. one does not cancel out the other. they're both capable of being true. i can handle that paradox, why can't you?

Lulumama · 09/07/2009 18:27

look, he died, and it was sad. really sad. he was 50. on the verge of a come back. he has left behind a devastated family. and fatehrless children. that is something i feel empathy for, seeing his family and children crying for him, he was someone's brohter adn father and son. but he also did a lot of things that were horrific

why do we have to rewrite history and deify him because he died?

AitchTwoOh · 09/07/2009 18:29

amen.

ilovemydogandmrobama · 09/07/2009 18:35

Who was it in the VT article that, 'extortion is not a defence to child abuse...' The episode is so grubby and no one comes out with much dignity.

The reason credibility is such an issue is that there is almost zero forensic evidence, so it's all circumstantial, which is consistent with most sexual crimes -- done behind closed doors, no other witnesses, etc

What would be interesting is whether or not the CPS here in the UK, given the same evidence would have prosecuted or would have tried to build up a better case? I don't know, but seems to me that the case was played out before the media, and don't think that would happen here.

Lulumama · 09/07/2009 18:39

i think the role of the media in the american justice system has a lot to answer for in muddying the waters

Fabulous send off!

Pan · 09/07/2009 18:55

Crumbs! Haven't you lot got anything better to do with your days??. I've just been and done a days work, keeping the nation on it's feet, and I come home to find you lot sloshing wine around talking turkey over each other!!

And where's my dinner??

violethill · 09/07/2009 18:57

Well said Pan!

AitchTwoOh · 09/07/2009 19:00

some of us have cooked two meals for the freezer, caught up on work admin and had a meeting with the bank... we women are very good at multi-tasking.

Lulumama · 09/07/2009 19:03

i;ve been to work this morning, done two school runs, been to the post office and bank, been to asda, made lunch and dinner, done the laundry, loaded dishwasher, washed pans, cleaned kitchen and had time to post on here!!

hope that's ok, pan

would it be ok to be on a thread all day talking about , say, i dunno.. manchester city??

this is interesting and compelling and bit more stimulating than normal conversation

Lulumama · 09/07/2009 19:04

ooops, forgot the

Rhubarb · 09/07/2009 19:39
AitchTwoOh · 09/07/2009 19:44

oh no don't fart rhubarb, that wasn't any sort of a dig, hand on heart. i have no objection whatsoever to you having strangers on the internet agree with you, that's precisely what forums etc are for. i just objected to being singled out as having 'followers' when the same could more obviously be said of you, dp, and td, who've been congratulating each other on your sound reasoning throughout. nothing to do with you, per se, i promise.

TDiddy · 09/07/2009 20:03

Just popped back to say that Rhubarb is brilliant.

AitchTwoOh · 09/07/2009 20:04

lol

TDiddy · 09/07/2009 20:06

...one of the most reasoned and balanced people that I don't know.

Metatron · 09/07/2009 20:08

I have read all the Orth articles, watched the clip of the tv awards with the bouncing boy, read all links regardless of the credibility.

Prior to all this I was debating with a friend how MJ the "asexual child" was able to be convincingly sexual in a very male way in his videos. What he displayed was a very adult male behaving in a sexual manner. Combine that with a a desire to be a parent and I really don't think we have a "boy trapped in a man's body" The only other person described as the "peter pan of pop" has never expressed a desire to have children.

The police reports detail a varied collection of erotica from porn to more high brow coffee table type books - hardly the stash of an asexual being.

He drank, he concealed his drinking using soft drink cans, he took drugs, albeit prescriptions ones in a dubious manner.

Quite frankly combining all the behaviour and you have any bog standard pop/rock star/actor/model/wannabe. Minus the kiss and tells by the ladies/blokes that is.

lisa marie interview

TDiddy · 09/07/2009 20:10

I can't promise that I would be "extremely physical" if I found someone sexually abusing a child.

However, it is not an accusation that should be made lightly.

Come on Rhubard, daftpunk, Pan, spokette and the rest of the reasoned gang, let's do a collective flounce.

TDiddy · 09/07/2009 20:12

I can't promise that I would wouldn't be "extremely physical" ...
