I dunno about a deep coma but between the nurse who was there when it happened, the paramedics and the hospital staff they all worked on my Dad for about 45 minutes before they gave up. I didn't realise they would try for so long.

He wasn't concious. Not sure I'd call it a deep coma, but I think to be honest that my Dad had gone within a minute of the heart attack and all they were doing was keeping his brain oxygenated. His heart was buggered though as the PM showed and there was no way they could've brought him back but they tried very hard.

Probably much the same for Jacko if not more.

Aw Michael Jackson

Not a huge fan of his at all, but I give respect to stuff like Billie Jean, Beat It, Wanna Be Startin Somethin and Don't Stop.

I actually feel sorry for him as a person and to me, his life is an example of why children should not be forced by their parents, to be famous.

I don't know what he did or did not do regarding the whole abuse allegations, none of us do. However, he has children and I give him a little bit of credit for him not allowing them to become victims of the press and for keeping them out of the public eye (ok, apart from hanging the baby over a balcony, I know).....admittedly in his own strange way...but still....

GypsyMoth · 26/06/2009 00:20

I saw him on his 'dangerous' tour in the late 80's. Roundhay park with Kim Wilde as support! Was a nanny back then and the boss provided tickets to take the older kids!

Qally · 26/06/2009 00:21

SGB I've read that being emotionally manipulated (and sometimes even feeling physical enjoyment) can make the psychological harm of abuse more intense, not less. If coerced or hurt physically there's less of a sense that it isn't "really" abuse, or that you consented really, whatever the law says. Manipulating a child into sexual activity is not "least harmful" if you persuade the child, because they feel they bear some responsibility. The damage from that can be profound.

No clue if he was or wasn't a paedophile. Just wanted to make that point.

Footage of that beautiful little boy, singing his heart out in the most natural way imaginable, always upset me even before this, because the contrast was so sad. What a miserably derailed, suffocating life.

MrsDanversAteMyIpod · 26/06/2009 00:22

Am about this. Was obsessed with him aged 11-12 ,saw him at Wembley for his 'BAD' tour.

Sad about his abusive childhood and all that happened as a result of that really.

Technofairy.........that happened when my mil had heart attack at my house. I kept the CPR going til paramedics arrived, was physically the hardest thing I've ever, ever done. All with the phone on my shoulder talking to emergency services on the phone for reassurance. ( those people are amazing) she died ten days later, but they said nothing would have saved her.

GypsyMoth · 26/06/2009 00:27

I was sent as the parents couldn't tolerate music! Saw Bruce Springsteen at roundhay too, and madonna and genesis. Don't live up that way now, have to go to wembly these days

poopscoop · 26/06/2009 00:28

very very interesting. on cnn news an interview has just takent place with the family lawyer who is at the hospital. He says that michael was on very high doses of painkillers due to his old injuries. And that compared to anna nicole smith that was nothing compared to the people around him who were in charge of his medication.

Hope this makes sense, typing in bed, and quickly.

The family have been greatly concerned about the medication he has been on.

FAQinglovely · 26/06/2009 00:29

Kerry - you're now showing as a friend on my list........

Technofairy · 26/06/2009 00:30

Poor you, at least I didn't have to try to do CPR. I would have been clueless. I can't begin to imagine how hard that must have been for you.

I'm so grateful that an off duty nurse was there when it happened, she took control and kept my Mum calm at the same time. She was incredible.

They are amazing indeed.

pickyvic · 26/06/2009 00:30

i think his life was so sad. i think he was just a lost soul, and while ive not liked his music for eons now when i was an 11 year old i had his face plastered all over my bedroom walls. i just find it sad and i really feel for his kids.

(ive just flounced from another forum cos they wouldnt know an intelligent conversation if it came and bit one of their bloody arrogant moderators on the arse....)

poopscoop · 26/06/2009 00:30

just re-read my post and sounds like shite!

The J family think there are people in charge of MJ medication and that he has been taking far too much, hence maybe what has happened today.

They say the controlversy about the medication given to anna nicole smith and that this is far far worse.

WriggleJiggle · 26/06/2009 00:31

Can I join the 'I saw him at Roundhay' group too ?

troutpout · 26/06/2009 00:32

So weird - dh and i were talking about him today.I as reading about famous people with autism (online)...and his name was listed as someone whom people have speculated may have asd.

poopscoop · 26/06/2009 00:32

Technofairy · 26/06/2009 00:32

Pan · 26/06/2009 00:33

I 'did' Bruce at Roundhay too! B in the USA tour. I mean, who WASN'T there!!

Technofairy · 26/06/2009 00:35

I think I've still got my t shirt and programme....

FlappyTheBat · 26/06/2009 00:35

LA coroner has just confirmed that he has died.

BreevandercampLGJ · 26/06/2009 00:36

No loss.

GypsyMoth · 26/06/2009 00:37

Hope the family don't fight over his estate!

GypsyMoth · 26/06/2009 00:38

No loss? He had kids...

FlappyTheBat · 26/06/2009 00:39

no loss, unless you had bought tickets for his concert.

wasn't a fan of his at all, but just goes to show you what a screwed up childhood can do to a person!

fortyplus · 26/06/2009 00:40

Someone has just sent me this - don't watch if you take Michael Jackson seriously and are starting the grieving process:
